It's as simple as it gets - they just got a shitload of cash and they needed a world class striker; he was their only option with Suarez, Lewandowski, Aguero, Cavani etc. being unavailable (and Ibrahimovic being too old to build a team around him).
Icardi? younger and a similar level player who has many years ahead of him.

I think a lot of MUFC fans are a little irate that we got Pogba, who has not made much impact or taken us to another level.
Meanwhile, Juve took the Pogba money and bought Higuain who has made immediate impact.
He may be fat, but he is better at finishing that most, if not all, of our attackers.

Juve are currently leading their league and are still in the CL, due to face Barca, soon.
MUFC, by comparison, are in 6th place, in the league.
Nope. Higuain's reputation long precedes our move for Pogba. Especially here on the Caf.

Don't get me wrong. I think he'd do wonders for most teams in the world - he'd score bucket loads against 95% of the oppo teams - which is exactly what we're struggling to do. Scoring goals against, and putting the smaller teams away.

Inter won't sell him to Juventus.
Even for 90 million euros and a transfer request? Big Italian clubs regularly make transfers to each other. They do what they deem best for business and that would've definitely tempted them.
Same level, yes. But he's the best of the lot right now. Has been for a season and 2/3
Debatable, hence they are on the same level as him. Don't see how he's been better than Sanchez this season.

They rejected 60 Million plus bonuses from Napoli.

Inter and Juventus don't do business with each other atm. As for Icardi, i'm not sure inter would have sold him to anyone even for €90M

60million isn't 90 million(higuains price to juve iirc). Also doubt he'd put pressure on them to move to a smaller club.
Icardi pushed for the transfer. GdS reported Napoli made 70 Million bid and offered Icardi huge contract, 8.6 Million per year but Inter rejected everything.

So for a team that rejected 70 Million from Napoli, it won't be hard to reject additional 20 million from the club they hate the most.

He wanted a better contract, so yeah he was pushing. Eventually he got what he wanted, new fat contract with inter

As for Higuain, he's one of the best players on the planet, top 5/6 at doing the most important thing in the game. Why do people find a rich club in great financial health that is in Win Now mentality signing him "strange"?

You mean top 5/6 in his position, right?

His big-game bottling reputation is overblown by a certain group of fans of a certain player. All strikers miss chances, even in the biggest games. Hell even Messi missed a one-on-one in the same World Cup final. And the Copa America final chance wasn't easy at that angle, especially when you're as dumpy as Higuain and are struggling to reach the ball.

Is it?
In copa america final he didn't just miss the 1v1 chance he also missed in the penalty shootout.

So he joins the likes of Marco Van Basten, Diego Maradona, Cristiano Ronaldo, Franco Baresi and Roberto Baggio in missing in a major penalty shoot-out.

I agree that he's got some work to do to fully deliver at the business end of a major tournament or European campaign, but that's something which is shared by most players in that sort of second tier.

Look at the players who've been ripping up Serie A though: Past Prime Dzeko is on about a goal a game right now, Middle Aged Luca Toni was top scorer and Immobile ripped it up before and after leaving Serie A but flopped at Dortmund and Sevilla. Even Gervinho was putting up elite numbers in Serie A.

Bet Napoli fans are absolutely sick to the sight of him at this stage. Doesn't help that he keeps scoring against them.

Dzeko past his prime? :wenger: Toni sure, 2 seasons ago. Immobile bombed because he never bothered to even attempt to learn the language, he didn't want to be there, period. Gervinho wasn't putting up elite numbers, he was very good for one season, under the only manager he's ever been good for. I could mention how Ranocchia is doing very well now at Hull, in Italy he was a joke. Of course serie A isn't what it used to be(otherwise 36 goals in serie A would have made him the best in the world, period), but still, it's 36 goals. And it's not just the number, but the manners in which he scored. And he's doing it again for juventus this season

Well no doubt 36 league goals is still impressive, but Ibrahimovic managed 38 league goals last season and now he's moved to the PL he's on 16. Higuain would undoubtadly have a harder time in the PL and imo would probably hitting Ibrah type numbers, maybe scoring 20 in a PL season, no shame in that but not head and shoulders above the best in the league. The other thing is Higuain for all his quality, is pretty lazy.

I do think Dzeko's past his best at 31 and gervinho managed something 10 goals and 10 assists, one of their leagues best performing wingers. Cuadrado is another player who put up top stats in SA moved and didn't get a look in.

Not anymore. That's how he went from second tier WC striker to third best pure #9 in the world. Sarri had a lot to do with that

Dzeko is having the best season of his career. Hardly past his prime. As for gervinho, yeah he was great, for one season. Cuadrado never put up great numbers

94 million Euros.

For this waste of space that disappears when you really need him.

World cup finals,Cops America finals, champions league finals.
But he scores braces against Eibar and Catania.. Evens itself out :)

How's he so fat even after a full season? Even Rooney manages to get himself back in shape by this time of the year

I cannot remember Higuain impacting a set piece final, ever. That free header could have been a lifeline for Juve. Poor miss.

He was shite but so was Dybala.
Yes, but Dybala was playing deeper because of him. Higuain only broke Juve attacks upfront.

I know it's difficult to drop your goal-scorer, but that's what Allegri should have done today. Marchisio should have started, Pjanic in the hole and Dybala-Mandzukic upfront.

Higuain makes their game too static. Works in the Serie A but not here.
