So 2 and 3 are worth watching?
Alien 2 is excellent in a completely different way. It's a James Cameron action-fest while the first movie is more of a sci-fi thriller/horror.

3 is a step down but still good

4 is a bit poor imo. But if you're gonna watch the first three, you have to watch it anyway....

Personally my favourite is the first one but many people prefer the second one (usually people who prefer action movies over thriller/horror) but both 1 and 2 are superb movies.

Alien is great, one of my favourites. The second one is not my kind of film, it's just a shoot 'em up. The only other one I've bothered to watch was Prometheus. Like others I was dying to see it after the trailer (what a trailer it was). I didn't dislike it as much as others here did though. I was definitely disappointed with the plot but I think it's a beautiful looking film and it's pretty intense, Fassbender is great in it too.

Don't know how anyone can say The Thing is rubbish. I watched it again recently and it hasn't aged badly at all.

I haven't seen a decent horror film in a while. The Babadook was pretty good though and I'm looking forward to seeing The Witch.

I actually prefer 3 and 4 to the second one, I recognize it's a good film, just not my cup of tea. And the kid annoys me.

I'm in bed watching The Changeling. It's rather creepy :nervous:
Not really a horror movie.

I watched Ouija a few months a go. What an absolutely shit film. It was so predictable, I started calling shit before it was happening.

This is one of those times when if I could i'd reach out of your monitor and slap you. Aliens 4 better than 2? feckin ell. :p

What I will say about this thread is that I have not come across one exceptional horror film. The type of film that results in leaving all the lights on at night time.

I would however love to see someone approach a Horror film using Oculus VR. It would require a significant amount of work to make it happen given that you would need to allow say 180 degrees of vision but to allow the viewer to have that vision would make the experience significantly more frightening as you'd be able to be distracted a bit more, perhaps see something in the corner of your eye, which I always think is more frightening than actually seeing it square on.

It would be a very interesting experience.

Just remembered one, it's not got great reviews on IMDb but I thought it was quite good and creepy/scary called The houses October built or The houses of Halloween in the uk, check it out.

They've already done 360 degree porn on VR headsets...

Not seen all of those, seen a few of them and nope. Don't do anything for me and I try and watch them in the dark in silence too. /shrugs

Perhaps I need to have some drinks beforehand?

Imagine how awesome a horror film would be with a headset though? Think it would be better than any other genre tbh. You could watch it a few times and look different ways and spot different things and have different jump scares. Would be awesome.

The Houses October Built. I like that one but for some reason others hate it. I feel the same towards Grave Encounters and The Last Shift. Scared the shit out of me.

Which ones if you dont mind me asking?

The best way for me to watch a horror film is on a laptop with headphones on... have you tried that?

These ones. I'm a sucker for a movie with "The". I either watch by myself on a tv in the dark or on my computer with headphones.

mate watch Ringu. I don't know if it still holds up but when I saw it, it scared the shit out of me... and I wasn't even that young at the time. I enjoyed the experience so much that I haven't re-watched it because I dont want that feeling tainted in case the film hasnt aged well.

It sounds a bit too much like a plasticine penguin though.
