We have enough depth in our squad to have two or three of our 1st team players on the bench and still field a strong team. I'd say Ibra is the main one as he looked to be tiring against Stoke, plus our tactic is likely to be a counter-attacking game, which means he'd be doing a lot of work up front probably on his own or with little support.

Liverpool's result shows the game could be far from over.

Hull will not be taken lightly away from home. They do have a good team and will only miss Snodgrass dearly. We will field a good team and get to that final.
    De Gea
    Valencia Jones Rojo Shaw/Blind
    Fosu-Mensah (waiting to see this)/carrick
    Herrera Pogba
    MkhiT Zlatan Rooney

Pretty clear Young now only counts as an attacking full-back, like cover for Valencia.

Hull were extremely unlucky against Chelsea, when they were denied the clearest penalty you'll ever see, which could have landed them a draw.

So I expect two tough games against them (this and the league game) which means we need to cut out some of our recent wastfulness to get the result we need.

It'll be a full strength lineup, Jose will desperately want silverware in his first season, even if it is "only" the league cup.

Full strength tonight, rest players against Wigan. Now we are in the final of this I see FA cup as the most disposable competition we are in, not that we shouldn't give it go, just that it should be lowest priority I think.

I want a strong lineup tonight. Wigan have strung some wins together but they're a second division team that is in relegation territory. We should beat them with a 2nd team lineup.

Tonight, I want a strong side and ensure that we get to the final - no screwing around. Martial didn't feature in the Stoke game, so he would be the first man I'd put on the team sheet. Put Mkhitarian on the right and create some movement to get in behind Hull's wall. I do not want Fellaini starting here.

Expect a comfortable result in both games this week.

That and Wigan are absolutely shite. We should be taking them apart at home no problems.

I can see Jose making a few changes but not too many, same for Reading. He will rotate like the last time I guess

I have 11 channels that show English football and not a single one bought the rights for the league cup

we are more likely to rest players against Wigan than this match. Perhaps bring off some of our key plays at 60 min.
The Premier League match v Hull on Wednesday is very important.

I think it's the other way around. This is almost a foregone conclusion. José won't want a replay against Wigan so he'll play a stronger team.

I'm all for resting key players against Wigan. Powell will be on a mission to complete the task he started in pre-season of killing our entire squad.

I think it'll be pretty much full strength tonight, although I personally wouldn't mind seeing a few players rested. Only question mark for me is who plays on the left - think it'll be Lingard but hoping for Martial.

For some reason the only player I really want to see tonight is Fosu-Mesnah, perhaps Tuanzebe judging by Mourinho's comments that could come in the next game or so.

So long as we don't do a Liverpool with the squad, we should get the job done. Team selection is anyone's guess but I've gone with a 2-0 scoreline to United.

Think we need some quick counter attacking players like Rashford and Martial on the pitch as Hull will have to throw lots of players forward to have any chance of getting something from the tie.

Luckhurst: TFM travelled to Hull, Pogba & Herrera the other confirmed squad members for tonight. Young out of the squad 4th game running.

Securing a place in his first final as United manager (a final he actually led the team into himself) on his birthday while the scousers are experiencing another meltdown... Happy birthday, Jose!

No expert, but isn't unnecessary to play counter attacking? Wouldn't it be easier to control the game and let the opponents "chase" the ball - therefore a strong lineup (players that can "keep" the ball) would be prefered to avoid Hull from scoring.

Chasing the ball isn't counterattacking. Counterattacking is the concept of looking to exploit the opposition when you win back the ball and they have committed men forward.

From MEN (take with a pinch of salt):

    Anthony Martial out?
We mentioned it earlier but it sounds like there will be no Anthony Martial in the starting XI tonight. That will be a blow after he was omitted from the squad at Stoke at the weekend. It sounds like the front three will be Ibrahimovic, Rashford and Lingard.

Ok, what the feck is going on?

Yes I know. I said that Hull should "chase" the ball. Why win back the ball when you'd mostly have the ball yourself - could be a ball possession like 30-70 percent maybe and if so I fail to see how much of a counter attacking one could have. But like I said, I'm no expert so I might be thinking wrong.

I am sorry, but how the feck has Martial supposedly not taken his opportunities with both hands? Bullshit.

But didn't Mourinho say that Martial would be considered? Doesn't this just mean that Mourinho still shows that Martial isn't "safe" and must fight for his place.

I still think that he will play today.

We'll batter them for 90 minutes and score a goal near the end, if we're lucky.

You must have a low opinion of Martial if you think he's performed anywhere near what he's capable of. That's the problem.
No what I think is that in recent performances he is starting to pick his game up. Slowly he will get back to his best but that's not possible without actually playing games, which he is getting very few of. No one else is as good at what he does and we need to stop messing around with squad selection and pick a solid team that consistently plays- one that includes Martial.

He's scored 2 goals in his last 3 starts and was one of our most threatening players in 2 of them and wasn't near our worst in the third.
