It's pretty trite, but the basic sentiment is correct, IMO.

It's such a cliché thing to say.fecked up mentality for a fan of a club cause at the end of the day you want your team to go through (or to win) whether they deserve it or not

so by that logic pool deserved to win the league last year??
Not with fewer points than United they didn't.

I understand the statement. In our case, if we don't win the league title you can point straight to the head-to-head results.

The team with the most points at the end deserves to win the league.
Is correct.

But it is always especially disappointing to when you are beaten by your main title rivals.

It is not a question of deserving to win it, it is only a question of how easy it will be now to go on and win it. A draw would have made our lives a lot easier.

When the season is finished, all thats is really remembered is who lifts the trophy.

If Arsenal win the league this season, then they will deserve it, despite loosing to us twice and Chelsea twice.

O come on, Chelsea is a good team, but the refs have been really shit for both the premiership matches... thus the statement is untrue...

If we can't get more points than them over 38 games, then we don't deserve to win the league.

Now that would be a better way of phrasing things with us as a direct comparison to Chelsea.

If we cant get more points than them over 38 games then the refs probably fecked us over.

If we cant get more points than them over 38 games and the refs for some reason changed the habit of a lifetime and didnt feck us over, THEN we dont deserve to win the league.

I think any sentence including the phrase "deserve to win" is likely to be flawed.

It's silly because you won't win all the games you deserve too and you won't lose all the games you deserve too...Since a league seasons over 38 games, pinpointing one result is just simplistic and dismissive

I remember when we lost the league to leeds. Our side was better then theirs though the league won't tell you that at the end. We had a messed up fixture pile up. It was too much for us and so another example of how things other then football can influence the outcome

It's then a test of the squad/endurance/dealing with injuries in a short space of time and the squad was smaller then. People say that though because it's a defensive 'stance' that means they don't have to think about it. They don't want to think about it.

It's like 'things even themselves up'. It's nonsense. No one actually keeps score....
