I haven't seen anything of him, but a mate of mine was banging on at me to back him each way for top scorer at the World Cup a couple of months ago. He trades on Betfair full-time, so he's up at all hours watching all sorts of leagues.

You do realize that Hernandez, Owen, Welbeck and Diouf were not on the bench yesterday? And that Macheda is 18 and has just come back from injury?
And what's your point exactly?

We added our 7th striker and yet. We would still prefer a limping Rooney against a top side then any of the alternatives left.
And it will continue like that if we keep signing shit, we need a fecking class striker to partner Roo or play on his own.

Do you think Chacharito or whatever will play on his own against Chelsea or Barca, is a better chance of esmufc being the team's gatorade provider that the other happening.

Yepp if all the EPL defenders go missing then this boy will truly start scoring hat tricks in England. I mean if he is given acres of space then this guy knows where the net is.
You say that like every goal in the premier league is scored with the striker halfway up a defenders arse! Good players find space, it's not always easy to tell from YouTube clips if the defenders just crap, or been outwitted.

Hernández signed for Manchester United on April 8, 2010 subject to a work permit being granted and a sportsmens bet with Manchester United Manager Alex Ferguson that Michael Carrick could not keep his mouth closed while making a pass.

and

In his first Torneo Bicentenario, he scored 5000 goals against Toluca. On January 23, Hernández scored twenty two more goals against Tigres.

and

"I cannot wait to play alongside my personal friend carlos vela." The youngster was not only signed for his footballing skills, but also for his cooking abilities, specialising in tacos and fajitas which were sampled by Sir Alex Ferguson himself during his trials at the club.

Javier's celebration is well known in Mexico when he scores, he pulls his shorts down and gets it out.

Welcome to the club for him. Looks a good player from those videos with some good dribbling skills. Its a shame some don't seem to realise that this club thrives on making heroes instead of buying them.

This reminds me of the Forlan signing which I think would have gone better than it did if we were playing the way we currently do. I for one am glad to see that he seems to play on the shoulder of the defence and I look forward to watching him this summer.

FM Stats.
Has him listed as 5'11 when other stories have him as 5'7 - 5'9.

So, I guess we need to take a couple points off each of his stats to get a true picture of how good the lad is.

His volley attempt at 4:43 was very good, and i think that was the only shot he had that was off-target during the whole vid... Good signs IMO :)

Very interesting to see us sign our first Mexican under US ownership.
Does anyone think he would have been targeted by a MLS team if the Glazers hadn't stepped in?
No, Chivas is a far bigger team than any of those in the MLS.

If he clicks, it'll be marketing genius by the Glazers. There are a lot of Mexican ex-pats in the US.

I hope the lad never sees this thread, No one was hoping we'd get someone like Villa or Aguero this summer more than me but that is off now and we should all be getting behind a promising young talent, at least until he gives a reason not to.

Got a good feeling about this kid. I'll ask my Mexican friend for his views and post them here if he knows much.

Two things from the YouTube videos I like -

1) His humble, joyful celebrations. He seems ecstatic everytime he scores and often gestures in gratitude towards the teammates that assisted the goal.

2) He scores with both feet and his head.

We do seem really overstocked in many departments now. There's surely gonna be some departures in the Summer.

Strikers alone -
Rooney, Berbatov, Owen, Diouf, Macheda, Welbeck, King, Hernandez, W. Keane, Cofie

Berba and Owen look like they're hanging by a thread.

No, if any team was going to get him it would have been Chivas USA.

That being said, I have watched him play in a few games and I always came away impressed. He has to be a lock for the WC, even though he has only played in 4 games. All of my Mexican friends rave about how good this guy is and they are all Club America fans.

In the past couple of months I know there were a few teams interested in him( Wolfsburg, PSV), never heard United was after him though. He definitely has a lot of skills(good ball control/finishing) and is pretty fast, but I do wonder how he will adapt to the playing style.

Magical Manchester United.
Out of the blue, hope this kid turns out to be a good signing. Welcome!
We now have Rooney (24), Berbatov (29), Owen (30), Macheda (18), Diouf (22), Hernandez (21), Welbeck (19) as our strike-force next season. I wouldn't be surprised to see Welbeck and Diouf both going out on loan (again), Hernandez getting a run-out in the Carling Cup while Kiko stays as our fourth choice striker. After all Fergie seems to have high hopes for him and considering his abilities I think he's the most likely to make an impact.

Either 2/3 of these players will go out on loan or will be sold. I wouldn't mind seeing Berbatov stay but I guess it's not impossible he will indeed be sold in the summer if a decent offer comes in and we can cut our losses.

I like our transfer strategy even though we could do with an excellent addition in the middle.

If he gets turned off by this thread then he's going to have massive problems surviving in the English game with the media, the fans, and everything in between.
