Conversely you might win the league in 2-3 years if you actually focused on building a side over time instead of demanding short term players to be ready to challenge now.
Down that road lies mata, sanchez, Di Maria et al
Down the road also lies Liverpool.
We've signed players who've already peaked (sanchez, di maria ). On the other hand Liverpool have signed good players that were relatively younger but approaching their peak levels - Mane signed at 25 yr old, Salah (25), van Djik (26), Robertson (24). They now have a spine of great players, playing at their peak levels, around which they can nurture talented young players.
Similarly, City too had a spine of David Silva, Aguero, Komapny and Fernandinho around which first de Bryune and now Sterling and Sane have come good.
We dont have a spine of high class mature players. If we have enough money to blow 100 million on a 19yr old who "might" come good and then also go out and buy top level talent for all problem positions, then its fine by me. But if the money is limited (like it always is) then we have to prioritize.
