Aw that's sad - always enjoyed his commentary and he seemed like a very nice man. RIP

Shame. So many great games with his voice. (Please insert obscure and barely relevant fact here in tribute to his commentating style).

When it flashed up on my phone I assumed he would’ve been in his mid 80’s, 77 is no age to die these days. RIP.

RIP used to love listening to this guy in cup games and on MOTD when I was a kid back in late 90s early 2000s

Surprised he was 77 I expected him to be older.

Thanks for the memories :)

One of my favourite commentators. Always remember him when we beat the "invincibles" in the FA Cup in 2004. Him and Lawro were a great team.

Sad news, few if any was better on the mic than Motty, brought even poor games alive. Throw in the chuckle he'd always give. RIP to a legend.

Very sad news, an absolute legend and gent. One of the few who added to the experience of watching a match.

always associate him with Trevor Brooking as a pair, thought they were brilliant together. RIP
