You can just see his ego and mood increase with every bit of positive attention he's getting. Let's see him crack jokes after we lose tomorrow (hope we don't). Narcisists are always charming when you lick their boot.
He was pretty charming when the Dutch press were wetting the bid a couple of weeks ago too. Enjoy the ride, you've not got many talented players these days and you're punching well above your weight.

Not happy about the lack of discipline and composure. Wish this was van Marwijk's squad; they at least coupled their shithousery with a sense of joy. They had fun winding up their opponents.

Only been beaten twice in regular time as a Dutch coach in three spells? Is that right? One was to a Roy Keane inspired Ireland , who was the other? Portugal that year?

Least talented Dutch squad I have ever seen. Done an amazing job to make them this competitive.

Well, what you gonna do. Many of the Dutch players did very well. Dumfries, Noppert, Virgil, Weghorst, and youngsters like Timber and Gakpo. There was a real resiliency there, some real toughness. Next tournament with a different coach will be another chance for a great group.

Defender to take first penalty, leftie to take the next...
Sometimes it's better to keep it simple

Quarter finals is probably what their level is. Good tournament for them in the end, just another penalty heartache.

This is LVG for you. Instead of going all in after the equaliser he prefered to go conservative and wait for penalties.. sometimes you need to be brave but his football was never brave so there is that. Sorry Louis but Cruyff was better player and better coach than you..end of the story..

Honestly not sure why they stopped going long. It may not be 'pure' but with the height advantage it was super effective. 30 minutes of balls up to Weghourst and De Jong could've created some chances at least.

Proud of our boys to get back in this. Happy for Weghorst he scored his pen. Fecking legend.

Insipid, sideways football, religiously keeping the ball on the deck or 2010 Stoke City with absolutely nothing in between.

Was the same with Koeman at Barca. Is this the new "total football"?

Yeah, they were quite limited in many positions. Some of their best work - the goal against USA, the free-kick tonight - was clearly the result of good work on the training ground for which Van Gaal must take a lot of credit.

Agree, especially in the attacking positions, I give a lot of credit to LVG for bringing this team to the quarter finals. The quality of attackers couldn’t compare to the previous generations( too far from it).

Think reaching quarterfinals is about right for Netherlands. Won their group as expected, beat USA comfortably as expected, lost to Argentina as expected, though much harder in the end. Is Louis going to retire now or?

1 shot off target and 0 on target before their goal is terrible though, as much as I understand pragmatism.

It was posted right before the goal TBF
Yeah sorry, I was being facetious!

They hadn't done anything in an attacking sense before then, you just so happened to post that just as they scored!

Starting De Roon over Koopmeiners and keeping Bergwijn in the team were sneaky terrible decisions.

Bottom line, Frenke de Jong and Memphis, who were lauded as our big stars both played a terrible tournament. And it's fine that you want to be pragmatic, but if you fall at the first real hurdle, you're pragmatism just gave us 5 shite matches and a pedestrian quarter final finish.

Not a dutch. But there is something endearing in a way that even if he has a prostate cancer he still wants to help his nation to go as far as possible in the world cup to the point that he hide it at first. Its hard not to like that.
