That's only Europe. What about his 10 goals and 3 assists in 15 CL appearances?

These are probably the same people that say “Pele was only good because the Brazilian League was full of farmers.”The kid would be great in any league, no doubt about it. Of course if he doesn't score in the Premier league or La Liga, then it doesn't mean anything.
It seems they consider the French league as the equivalent of the Armenian league.Mbappe has obviously been a world class talent. Those who said before hand that he wasn’t, and that he needs to prove himself etc were just denying the obvious.
It’s like the idiots who called Kane a one season wonder.
Seeing him for ten seconds the first game I saw him, it was utterly obvious. He is insanely good, hope his career is free of injuries a la Messi, Ronaldo - and not like Bale, Owen, Reus, Shaw etcMbappe has obviously been a world class talent. The thing is, if you know which qualities you should pay attention, you can recognize the level of the players no matter where they are. Example:It seems they consider the French league as the equivalent of the Armenian league.
A shame for you maybe, I'm glad he went to Paris and plays for his home club. It'll mean a hell of a lot more to him to have a chance to win a CL with PSG than with Madrid or any PL clubs. The kid has plenty of time in his career to try other leagues anyways. The French League is pretty bad but Mbappé is still impressive.. it's just a shame than he didn't join the Premier League or La Liga instead of joining Paris
He had his pick of clubs, every side would love him.The French League is pretty bad but Mbappé is still impressive.. it's just a shame than he didn't join the Premier League or La Liga instead of joining Paris
One of those names is not like the others....Seeing him for ten seconds the first game I saw him, it was utterly obvious. He is insanely good, hope his career is free of injuries a la Messi, Ronaldo - and not like Bale, Owen, Reus, Shaw etc
Yeah, bloody BaleOne of those names is not like the others....
YesGenuine question. He is a proper world class talent, sure. But is he, as of now, a proper world class player?
I'd have to say yes right now, for the simple fact that whether it's Ligue 1 or the Champion's League, more often than not he comes off looking like one of, if not the best player of the game. He has to show up against Real Madrid and for France in the world cup to confirm that though. His young age is what's brought a lot of the hype because of what he was already achieving, but it also breeds a reluctance to accept him as anything more than a world-class talent right now.Genuine question. He is a proper world class talent, sure. But is he, as of now, a proper world class player?
Yes, he's the the best French goalscorer in 2017 ahead of the likes of Benzema, Griezmann and Lacazette with a truckload of assists on top.Genuine question. He is a proper world class talent, sure. But is he, as of now, a proper world class player?
Without a doubt, yes. The kid is so good already, his decision making is really impressive for his age.Genuine question. He is a proper world class talent, sure. But is he, as of now, a proper world class player?
I'm struggling to comprehend how he is ahead of Neymar on this chart. Neymar has more goals and as many assists as him IIRC. I'm not sure how expected goals/assist really work, but you would think Neymar or Lionel Messi would be higher than Mbappe.Yes, he's the the best French goalscorer in 2017 ahead of the likes of Benzema, Griezmann and Lacazette with a truckload of assists on top.
He's already one of the scariest footballers to face 1 on 1 and among the very top players for creating chances for himself and his partners.
This graph of expected goals and expected assists shows he is already in a class of his own:
This season his finishing has been a little worse than the previous one but if he keeps producing like in his latest games and contributes to his teams successes he's a potential top 3 player in the world and may be a Ballon d'Or candidate sooner than expected.
It's per 90minutes, an averageI'm struggling to comprehend how he is ahead of Neymar on this chart. Neymar has more goals and as many assists as him IIRC. I'm not sure how expected goals/assist really work, but you would think Neymar or Lionel Messi would be higher than Mbappe.
Expected goals and assists add the % of scoring when a shot is taken according to a statistical model.I'm struggling to comprehend how he is ahead of Neymar on this chart. Even so, Mbappe has just a sliver less minutes than Neymar, it's not enough to cover that kind of a difference, however...It's per 90minutes, an average
...I guess this makes a bit more sense to me. Neymar fires off more shots than Mbappe, but the difference is not very big with Neymar averaging 4 shots/game compared to Kylian's 3.3. As far as penalties are concerned, I can definitely see that being taken out of the equation for Neymar, but I don't think he's scored more than three so far in his career with PSG IIRC.Expected goals and assists add the % of scoring when a shot is taken according to a statistical model.
As I mentioned Mbappé missed a few easy finishes that could explain the difference with actual goals. There could be other biases like penalties not included in the dataset.
My fault, I deleted my post instead of editing it.I'm sure there was a post here a minute ago.I tried to quote it but it said permission denied or something
Ah it's back, it's Xg so it's basically the amount of times they are in position to score or play a pass that should lead to an assist.Even so, Mbappe has just a sliver less minutes than Neymar, it's not enough to cover that kind of a difference, however...

I'm just surprised the disparity is so big when Neymar's had a bigger output even if we take the penalties out of the way. Either way, you can tell Mbappe is very much deferring to Neymar, similar to the way the latter did with Messi in his Barcelona days. I'm just surprised that, despite that, he's so much higher on this chart than Neymar (not to mention Messi/CR7).
Ah, now I understand it better. So it's nothing to do based on their output or shots but based rather on their positional opportunities. So really Neymar comes out looking better as a scorer and Mbappe better as a passer, which makes sense given their relationship on the field. Thank you.Ah it's back, it's Xg so it's basically the amount of times they are in position to score or play a pass that should lead to an assist.
Being low on the xG with a high goal stat would show a really clinical striker, alternately a high xG with low goal return would show a really wasteful striker.
As for the expected assists, it's the same but team mates being clinical or wasteful.
Put it this way: if he were 25 instead of 19, he'd be widely considered among the 10/15 best players in the worldGenuine question. He is a proper world class talent, sure. But is he, as of now, a proper world class player?
At the risk of sounding ridiculous, when Mbappé is at his best only Platini and Zidane are arguably better among french players, he makes football look incredibly easy.Put it this way: if he were 25 instead of 19, he'd be widely considered among the 10/15 best players in the world
I think that is hyperbole at this stage but he is a top top talent. Madrid will regret not going balls out for him when either they buy him for much more or don't get to buy him at all.At the risk of sounding ridiculous, when Mbappé is at his best only Platini and Zidane are arguably better among french players, he makes football look incredibly easy.
Jesse Lingard not shown as he is way up off the top right corner.Yes, he's the the best French goalscorer in 2017 ahead of the likes of Benzema, Griezmann and Lacazette with a truckload of assists on top.

feckin' hell. That's insane praise. I have to start watching this kid closely now.At the risk of sounding ridiculous, when Mbappé is at his best only Platini and Zidane are arguably better among french players, he makes football look incredibly easy.
That's hyperbolic for sure but I really don't see anyone who gave that impression of superiority, he has the rare ability to play at a different speed mentally and physically.I think that is hyperbole at this stage but he is a top top talent.
