Vinicius decision making is...questionable at times.

Luck!? No! We see the return of the pressing in Zidane's gameplan and the difference is amazing. La liga's title is Real's to lose now.

Last two Madrid games were very good. Looks a completely different team.

We did finally press really well and look organized, and our fitness levels looked really good for the third game in a row, which bodes well

That said, we didn't create much and both goals were lucky - the first with casemiro's marker slipping and the second of course the ricochet off oblak's back. Atleti didn't play well at all but still had two colossal chances with Lemar and Saul. Lemar in particular was another big lucky moment because it was an open goal - and varane played well but at this point it's really worrying. We can't play a CB who's liable to gift our opponents a goal every game...

Also with Fede coming back Kroos needs to go to the bench. I'd like to see more of Rodrygo, too

Btw also weird game management by Simeone, taking out Joao Felix who was giving us trouble so early in the second half...

Well, this certainly makes la liga more interesting.
We`ve done well in the bigger games, and with this win over Atletico, makes the league quite open again.
That said, they are still in the lead by a decent chunk, and we need to find some consistency in your everyday match, otherwise Atletico will take it.

Open title-race, as of now.

The core of this Madrid team is still class, they'd win the league quite easily this year if they had bothered to invest in the squad.

But all it takes is Ramos, Carvajal, Casemiro or Benzema to miss part of the season and they'll be in trouble again

To win at Sevilla, then the so crucial match against Mönchengladbach and now the derby is really impressive.......their league schedule looks "pretty easy on the paper" for the next 11 matches and if they can stay on this level for the most time then they will be soon back at the top of the league.

Just Ramos being away is enough to make them fragile again. It’s crazy how fragile Varane seems when his captain is not there.
They cannot keep relying on their old guard forever.

I think Barcelona desperately needs Camp Nou full of supporters. They suffer a severe quality drop without their supporters. They need either the booing or the cheering, some sort of guidance. They play in an empty Camp Nou as if it were a training ground in the outskirts of the city or something. Messi has played miserably all 2020 in all those empty stadiums. His fire is gone. Though he scored today and got his team three vital points.

Camp Nou is more known for tourists than for a fierce atmosphere...

Kroos scores a typical Kroos goal to give Real Madrid the lead. It was coming, too, especially after the Raul Garcia red card.

That counter has been very good.

1-1
If I have to be brutally honest, Real Madrid were terrible in their defensive transition. Yeah, they were pressing, but once the ball was lobbed back to Inigo Martinez, they had to fall back into shape. Unfortunately for them, there was no one but Vinicius who was anywhere near Ander Capa, and him giving up on tracking back + Ramos's indecisiveness contributed to that goal.

Yes, you are absolutely spot on. That was clearly Madrid in lazy mode in defensive transition.

They outplayed us. With 10 men for almost all the game because of that madman raul garcia, and still

Saint Courtois saves it and then karim ends it. Feeewwwww

Pity athletic don't have prime Aduritz and Guerrero now. The team is really good, the defenders are all top, they have good midfielders, they're just awful up top

They need to find a way to steal Oyarzabal from Real Sociedad

Nah, that was real madrid in defensive transition without Casemiro
Funnily enough, I was thinking the exact same thing. Kroos is basically playing where Casemiro's supposed to be, and he's completely out of the game with that one long pass from Inigo Martinez. Casemiro would have read the danger instantly and recovered back to his position. Ramos was basically going into the area where Casemiro would typically be, anyways.
