What a stupid idea...
Yeah I agree. Casual soccer fans aren't coming out to see the likes of Sevilla or Valencia or even Atletico. You would but how many hardcore football fans are there? You need to sell stars to the US audience to get the general soccer enthusiast to show up. All the stars in Spain are in 3 clubs.
This is what I’m guessing will happen. A glorified friendly.Whatever happened to the premier league's plan for a 39th game played in the US/Asia? I'm sure there was a lot of talk about it a few years ago
Will there be any games not involving Real or Barca?Relax, this will flop when they see empty seats in all games played there not involving Real or Barca.
A couple of people have said this now but given the calendar for UEFA competitions is released very early into the season it won't be hard for La Liga to arrange these fixtures well away from any midweek commitments. This is going to go down like a lead stone for the clubs who have travel to the US at the weekend, then play CL games in Europe in midweek.
Lmao
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_39I don't see the PL doing it. Honestly. Just feel that the people who run our league, despite not being completely "100% for the fans", have some form of connection with us and won't do the match abroad shit.
No it hasn't. That's ridiculous.La Liga sucks balls and has for since the early 2000s. They're desperate for their shit league to survive so of course this was going to become a thing.
As others said it’s not about the stadium being filled. And i think starting off the tickets will be dirt cheap- it’s about getting people aware and hoping their kid gets hooked on a team and starts following them.Relax, this will flop when they see empty seats in all games played there not involving Real or Barca.
Yet the vast majority of the English public don't want your sh*tty American Football League games, ripping up our pitches.First you take our NFL games. This is only fair. Manchester United vs Liverpool at MetLife Stadium. The NW Derby sponsored by Arby's.
Aren't they going to be at Spurs' new ground with a retractable pitch when it opens in 6 years?Yet the vast majority of the English public don't want your sh*tty American Football League games, ripping up our pitches.
The club is called Manchester United. It belongs in Manchester.Like the idea. Football has gone global and top clubs have so many fans all over the world. On this way, you give them an opportunity to watch their team without needing to cross the ocean.
Of course, I wouldn't like if they overdo it, but if teams like Barca, Real (and in future United etc) have one home game away in some other part of the world (when most of fans are for that team, so it is a 'home' game anyway), I don't see the harm. In fact, it is beneficial.
US football doesn't rip pitches, there are no scrums it's not Rugby.Yet the vast majority of the English public don't want your sh*tty American Football League games, ripping up our pitches.
The club name is Manchester United, so okay to play a couple of games in United StatesThe club is called Manchester United. It belongs in Manchester.
How does the Red Devil All Star Kickers sound? The club is called Manchester United. It belongs in Manchester.
There are more fans and revenue that goes to the club outside of Manchester than in Manchester. It is a global club, whose owners are Yankees, the manager is Portuguese, and the best players are a Spanish, a Chilean and a French. The club is called Manchester United. It belongs in Manchester.
Fixed, get it rightYet the vast majority of the English public don't want your sh*tty National Football League games, ripping up our pitches.
Yep, it sucks. I can see why foreign fans don't mind or fans who don't go to the games, but us Mancs who go to watch United don't want to lose out on a home game at Old Trafford and I'm sure the majority of Spanish fans who'll miss a game of their own feel the same. The club is called Manchester United. It belongs in Manchester.
Key word is might, probably won't as it'll have to be discussed between every club and would be a logistical nightmare for this season. Not all clubs in La Liga will vote for it to happen, the lower clubs are on a strict and small budget and this wouldn't help as they won't get the mega bucks like Barca, Real and Athleti will, look at the TV deal and how uneven it's spread between each club. The article states that some games might get played this season, so supporters would have already paid for the season tickets.
All the UCL and Europa League trophies? Or you were talking for Euros and the World Cup which was won from a team whose majority of players played in La Liga clubs? The unprecedented 3 tournaments in a row.La Liga deserve everything they get.
What is football turning into....There are more fans and revenue that goes to the club outside of Manchester than in Manchester. It is a global club, whose owners are Yankees, the manager is Portuguese, and the best players are a Spanish, a Chilean and a French.
I am all for keeping the history of the club, but it won't do any harm if one or two matches in a season are send to some other continent. If a couple of top reds are annoyed, well so be it. There is a waiting list for tickets as are other casual fans happy to get tickets instead of them.
Dwindling relevance, finances and levels of competition. All the UCL and Europa League trophies? Or you were talking for Euros and the World Cup which was won from a team whose majority of players played in La Liga clubs? The unprecedented 3 tournaments in a row.
From a tribal into a global sport? What is football turning into....
Wanting Manchester United to play in Manchester = top reds. There are more fans and revenue that goes to the club outside of Manchester than in Manchester. It is a global club, whose owners are Yankees, the manager is Portuguese, and the best players are a Spanish, a Chilean and a French.

Yet they twat your beloved EPL clubs every time they face each other.Dwindling relevance, finances and levels of competition.
People who would boycott watching United cause a hypothetical one out of around 30 'home' matches are played outside of Manchester.Wanting Manchester United to play in Manchester = top reds.
Premier League was indeed extremely competitive last season when the winners finished 19 points ahead of second place having accumulated 100 points.Dwindling relevance, finances and levels of competition.
