    Background draft

Emulating real life we are going to run a league style draft with all time players.

    DRAFTING PROCESS

To speed up the drafting process all managers will PM picks in rounds.

First round 3 GKs to be selected. 1 Star goalkeeper.

Star players will take precedence over none star players e.g

    Manager 1 pick - *A, B, C
    Manager 2 pick - A, *B, C
    Manager 3 pick - *D, C, E

Manager 1 will be successful in getting GK A.
Manager 2 will be successful in getting GK B.
Manager 3 will be successful in getting GK D & E.

At the end of the round, managers with unsuccessful picks will carry on until they have the same number of players as everyone else from that round.

All players picked by more than 1 manager, will be blocked, they can then be attempted at being recruited during the 1st transfer window.

    MATCHES

Games will be played once a week, with no match discussion between opponents. Each manager will submit a formation graphic, with a basic couple of lines about the style they wish to play, and any weaknesses they see to exploit.

Games will then be judged by a committee who will decide on a winner, with goal scorers and scorelines.

I'm going on my honeymoon for 2 weeks so sign ups will be open until I get back and then we'll start the drafting process.

Probably need a few things tweaking as well so I'll have a think about that over the next couple of weeks.

Just realised I'd already started this thread. Can start drafting from Monday if everyone is still in?

Yeah sure more the merrier. There are games, just no discussion or anything. Basic timesheets with an outline of basic tactics each week

Got excited for a minute we were rerunning that Classic Players FM @oneniltothearsenal organised (and left us pining for updates!).

It's very similar, just without all the FM stats. We'll likely judge games better than that engine can anyways

As I recall we were balls deep into a squeaky-bum title race with a couple of games left before climax.

I've got hold of two copies of FM since to try run it but completely forgot where the patch was and then I'm straight back to having no spare time for it. :(

Would love to see how it pans out over a few seasons.

Okay. I actually managed to find a save file for it I transfered (assuming Season 2 Mercado is correct) but it might be slightly behind what I already updated. Also I am madhouse busy atm so I cannot give any date and time on this (also we need someone to replace Tuppet as manager ) but I at least I can say its not permanently dead yet

but don't get your hopes up unless someone wants to take it over (its on FM 2017 btw)

Surely one of his aliases had a team as well? At least he couldn't vote multiple times

PS: almost done with my Panini collection, will send a clip when I find the time, bloody awesome!

Out due to this reason - "Games will then be judged by a committee who will decide on a winner, with goal scorers and scorelines."

@P-Nut How about a match day thread with a normal poll and neutrals comments but without manager comments beyond the very small OP?

This would be better. In fact just one paragraph with a formation image

Do you mean one paragraph for the manager? Or no comments at all beyond the manager paragraph?

No comments in the game from managers just one short paragraph explaining the setup in the OP

That's what I thought. Makes sense. Having neutral comments could be fun. It at least takes us away from the never ending transfer rumours

Ffs there will be million games in the league format, just let committe judge them....

This is how i understand it, once a week there will be a thread where committe will post results/short reviews of all games.

This. 8 matches a week for dunno how many weeks? You will be getting 1/2 votes by the end.

    Who is in the committee?

I'd probably put up 1 thread with multiple games (just formations, nothing fancy) and multiple choice poll.

Don't know who's in the committee apart from P-Nut and GSTQ. One mega thread for the week could work - the potential issue is lack of votes given the number of games which could hit 10 a week.

    @MJJ @Šjor Bepo Thoughts?

Yeah if we have one mega thread and people can maybe vote in the thread rather than a poll? That can work.

But will need a game thread per gameweek.
