We should be getting rid of Lindelof before Harry but no club in the Premier League will take him.
I’m with you. But Shaw will get the real minutes before him anyway so I’m more relaxed with Lindelof keeping the bench warm.

Maguire? Loan with obligation to buy for 45m. Job done

Actually I hope Maguire does stink up a fuss. Easier to get the oil tanker out, you'd hope.
In Reality if Maguire is on his way out the door, good, cause it will take him at least a week to turn round and he will be gone by then. side note BBC FA cup coverage at the moment being compromised by porn noises in the background.

Can’t believe I’m going to say this but surely we can’t afford to lose him in January. Loads of games coming up, Varane is unfortunately it seems only a stone throw away from an injury. Just seems like you would keep Maguire and Lindelof as back ups till the summer then look at it again.

If Maguire wants to go there then let him go, even on loan. My condition would be that they pay all his wages. With Shaw showing himself to be excellent in the CB role, I think we'd be fine without him and we wouldn't have to tediously watch him take the captain's armband every time he comes on for the last 3 minutes.

Please send him on loan, I'd feel better about seeing a youth player warming up than him. We need to try and get someone to bid for him and that isn't going to happen while he plays for us.

Geebs this is not even remotely realistic. He was barely even worth that when we bought him!

I could see him being cover for Casemiro, closing games at the #8 position when we're ahead and being the backup RCB. I'd turn that down if I was him and just try to go to Arsenal and count on Partey and Xhaka being older, or to Liverpool as Fabinho has played 500 games and appears to have hit the wall physically (and in their system Rice could play as a #8 anyways since they need defensive responsibility to let their fullbacks feck around and create).

But if he did come here and we sent West Ham McTominay, Maguire and 25M, he'd probably do well as Varane, Casemiro and Eriksen's backup and get a lot of games and improve overall as a player. But nobody wants to be James Milner.

People are throwing money around like it’s going out of fashion. Lesser players than Hazza are going for more than 40m. What’s the point in us offering bargain prices when nobody else is? We have to get better at selling.

So right. It feels so forced!!!

Almost like when you have to sleep with the ugly chick so your friend gets the girl he wants... taking one for the team ;):lol:

Sure…. But 45million GBP? Only if GBP stands for “a Golden Blunder Points! In the real world, good luck with that ;)

He would play with Casemiro

No point in loaning him out. He is not a kid who needs training. And we are not here to do charity work and provide him gametime. He is one of our backup CB.
We sell him if we are getting someone else.

We need the money though. If West Ham or someone is willing to pay his 200k a week salary maybe with a loan fee, we should use the money elsewhere.

We're not short of cover at CB. With Shaw excelling in the position we now have 5 CBs. McTominay plays CB internationally and can be used there too.

Why would we loan him to West Ham anyway, even if we thought Maguire was worthless? It's not the amount of money I'm referring to, it's the club taking him on loan. If West Ham are on their way to drowning, we should be throwing them an anchor, not a life vest. Maguire doesn't suit the ETH system, but he would help West Ham.

Or is this entire thing a wind up from West Ham, asking to loan an 80 million pound player? They're basically saying he's worth nothing. Like saying I'd like to bang your girlfriend for a dollar. It's not really saying what we think it's saying.

This wouldn’t make any sense for us and, I’d argue, for him as well. He’s behind Varane in the pecking order and Varane is injury prone plus we have loads of games. There’s no shame in being Varane’s backup.

He’s not behind Martinez/Shaw because ten Hag really likes left footed players in the left centre back position so he’s not even an option there!

I don't think he's ill at all, so why he's not playing gives huge question marks over his future.

I think he could play a role in the squad but now Shaw is playing LCB which makes me feel Harry's days are numbered I just hope we fetch a good fee for him, and I hope he hits good form and lights it up elsewhere.

Hang onto Maguire until the summer, then sell him.

How hard was that?
How is this going to benefit us? He's barely started in the league & is mostly limited to making cameo in the last 2 mins of the game. Even with Martinez out, ETH prefers effing LUKE SHAW in center back. The pecking order for CB seems to be: Varane, Martinez, Shaw, Lindelof...(gap)... Casemiro, McTominay ... (big gap) ... Jadon Sancho, Antony, Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire (end). He is just not trusted for reasons obvious.

Isn't this the time we get rid of him for what he's worth & invest that in an up & coming CB?

No point in a loan, unless it is with an obligation to buy. Else, we'd rather hold on to him

Putting unrealistic values on players who earn well above their market value in terms of wages is not getting 'better at selling.'

It would cost us 40m to buy a replacement and in todays market market, England captain, PL proven, must be worth 40-45m
I agree. Letting him go for 25-30m or less would be a mistake. Not like he's a shite player. He could be plenty useful to some team in the PL.

They can feck themselves dodgy cnuts. They are perfectly fine spending money left right and centre to other clubs but when It's Man United of course they want to loan an 80m pounds player.

All them cnut clubs spending massive sums nowadays but always inquire us about loans. They wanna shaft clubs left and right with massively inflated fees.

Essentially big clubs are helping them by spending huge sums on overrated players but the cheap fecks wanna get players on loan for free!!!
Up to a point, West ham wouldn't pay what was wanted for Lingard either after a very successful loan with them.

But yeah, Club does need to be harder in negotiations and Maguire, whilst he isn't suited to the football we now play, would slot in pretty well for Moyes I think.

That is a sensible proposal. And in that case -- i.e. if he keeps them up -- he should go for 30-35m and no subsidized wages. We have tried to sell players before without any success. I am not too keen on passing on an opportunity to sell Maguire with that type of return. CB is the position where we have the most depth.
Yea that was my thinking. Kind of a win-win. I think West ham will stay up anyway so very high chance the deal happens.

I can see why West Ham can't agree to a guaranteed purchase if they got relegated (And the player wouldn't move to the Championship).

Can't let go players now unless replaced. We need him until summer. Same with AWB and McT.

If any team wants to buy one of your players, the first thing you do (more so the fans than the manager) is look at their team, and identify a player you would want in exchange. West Ham want Maguire, and amongst their team, Rice is arguably the most interesting player, hence why people are automatically saying, if you want Maguire, give us Rice. In reality, it is very rare for swap deals to actually work, so usually it is usually best just to focus on a one way deal, and as a standalone, are we happy for Maguire to go to West Ham? On loan I think is a stupid idea. For a decent fee, this may be our last opportunity to get good money for him, on the back of his strong showing at the WC, as he will lose value sitting on the bench for the next 6 months. However, can we afford to lose squad depth if we have a genuine shot at winning the PL this year? Bringing in another player instead is always a risk, particularly mid-season, and it is good that we are having the opportunity to try out Shaw at CB. I think we will see where we are at the end of the window points wise and with injuries before making a decision.
