Dont see any reason to loan him out. Better to keep him as a sub instead of a loan. We need to sell him outright.

No point in loaning him out. He is not a kid who needs training. And we are not here to do charity work and provide him gametime. He is one of our backup CB.
We sell him if we are getting someone else.

Mings got sold for 28m 3 years back. Chelsea paid 40m for Koulibaly. Villa paid 35m for Carlos .
Mings was 4 years younger and he is on normal PL wages… The market for such players is bigger.

Koulibaly is declining and was probably a big mistake by Chelsea, but still his pedigree makes him worth the gamble… Maguire has already declined and seems beyond recovery. No big club capable of paying both his wages and the 40M will be interested. The only market for him are loans to the bottom half. And they often can afford one or the other (the big fee -40- or the big wage), not both.

Selling him for 40m - 50m would be amazing. Im not even sure he will ever look like a good player again, he is a broken player and every opponent knows his weaknesses. These days he gets tricked by simple body feints every Premier League attacker can make... why would that change in a different team?
Tbf imo Maguire is a very decent CB. He's very strong, very good in the air, pretty solid and a decent passer. His problem is slow feet and slow brain which makes him unsuitable for our current style.

He'd look very good in a team that plays with a low line and a counter approach I reckon. As he did for a quite a period under Ole.

He also had a pretty good WC so imo it's not that difficult to sell him. Many mid table teams would love to have him I think. The true issue here is his 190k a week. He's not fit for most of the top teams same as us because most top teams now play with a high line. But the lesser teams simply can't afford his wages. And I don't think he'd agree to reduce his salary in order to move. So we must sell pretty cheap to compensate for that imo.

The only way I'd let him go to West Ham on loan would be with a guaranteed obligation to buy if they stay in the PL.

He's still easily worth 30Million IMO and would be a really good CB for a midtable PL club.

That’s not controversial. But I don’t think you actually read the article…

Rio also said he would confront ten Hag and ask him, “Are you trying to take the piss out of me (playing Luke Shaw instead) ?” Also said he would walk straight into the manager’s office and ask, “Are you disrespecting me ?”

That’s not only controversial it’s pure horseshit from Rio. Like @FrankDrebin said, could you see him stomping into Fergie’s office and saying such ? It’s just childish nonsense really and Rio should be smarter than that.

Rio needs to feck off. Great player, but zero brain cells as a pundit

Worth 35-40m still surely. So long as there's an obligation to buy I'd say go for it. Though as with McTom - We'd need some cover this season in his place.

Seems to be some rule that clubs can only ever enquire to loan our players.

I wouldn't even allow for that situation. If there's no one to buy him now then a loan only makes sense if it is essentially a purchase transacted at a later date.

It wouldn't be out of the goodness of our heart, if we are looking to sell, not making our first team over a converted leftback is hardly pumping up the value. He has 2/3 years on his contract at ~190k a week, if we can loan him out for 6 months and they cover his wages + a loan fee, that's not a bad way to recoup some value and put him the shop window. Not dissimilar to Lingard, who we had zero offers for prior to his Westham stint, we could have got some money but Ole decided to keep him around for reasons unknown.

They can feck themselves dodgy cnuts. They are perfectly fine spending money left right and centre to other clubs but when It's Man United of course they want to loan an 80m pounds player.

All them cnut clubs spending massive sums nowadays but always inquire us about loans. They wanna shaft clubs left and right with massively inflated fees.

Essentially big clubs are helping them by spending huge sums on overrated players but the cheap fecks wanna get players on loan for free!!!

Shouldn't his wages decline with his playing ability? He's not going to get a raise at another club. It's a choice of bench or play with a paycut

You don't loan an 80million signing out when you're just about to start a mad run of games. It'd be idiocy.

Bizarre. Even the youngsters who you imagine aren’t on crazy money like Elanga or Pellistri

No point in letting Maguire or McTominay go in this window unless we have replacements lined up. We're in the title race and both are still valuable squad members. Maguire has had plenty of critics, me included but he's as good a 3rd CB as you'll get.

I’d be amazed if we allowed any of our 1st team squad leave in January

To be fair I can understand West Ham could only afford a loan offer when they are still battling against relegation, they won’t be able to afford Maguire nor if he wants to play in the Championship

Yes, Woodward put it in. Part of his Disneyland approach. I mean, you can’t sell Mickey, can you? It anyone no matter how small.

Maybe we do, under the surface. Would be very happy if we signed a young DM and young CB that both have intelligence and promise

That is a sensible proposal. And in that case -- i.e. if he keeps them up -- he should go for 30-35m and no subsidized wages. We have tried to sell players before without any success. I am not too keen on passing on an opportunity to sell Maguire with that type of return. CB is the position where we have the most depth.

We have a similar agreement with Marseille for Eric Bailly where there is an obligation to buy if they qualify for CL next season,

Constantly at the STD clinic.
Hes way better as a squad option but to those against a loan, if he did go to west ham on an amazing run that would elevate his value for the summer

we have Shaw who can adequately cover at centre half if needed, as can Lindleof. If he had a decent loan spell at West Ham it might generate/increase interest in the summer from other clubs. West Ham could be a good option, he plays effectively for England with Rice as his defensive mid.

We should be getting rid of Lindelof before Harry but no club in the Premier League will take him.

But he’s not actually our third choice centre half though is he?

What is the obsession with Rice? He's not good enough. If he comes he is cover for Casemiro and I don't think he'll accept that
I could see him being cover for Casemiro, closing games at the #8 position when we're ahead and being the backup RCB. I'd turn that down if I was him and just try to go to Arsenal and count on Partey and Xhaka being older, or to Liverpool as Fabinho has played 500 games and appears to have hit the wall physically (and in their system Rice could play as a #8 anyways since they need defensive responsibility to let their fullbacks feck around and create).

But if he did come here and we sent West Ham McTominay, Maguire and 25M, he'd probably do well as Varane, Casemiro and Eriksen's backup and get a lot of games and improve overall as a player. But nobody wants to be James Milner.

Article…

He gives me shivers these days when he's playing and seems to unsettle the whole dynamics of the team. Poor bloke has lost all confidence and he doesn't seem to be relishing defending. Certainly, be a massive help to my health if moved.
