Being a Norwegian, I don't know any City fans but some of my friends and co-workers are Arsenal fans so I'd rather City win it than Arsenal.
City have also bought their way to success, they're a nothing club. Similar to PSG. Whatever City win, people won't care because it's just fake success. Arsenal on the other hand I grew up hating (also because of friends supporting them).
I can understand why people from Manchester would rather Arsenal win PL than City, but I don't think it's that odd to prefer City to win it than Arsenal, especially if you're not from England where nobody knows any City fans.

I'd rather see Arsenal than City... I started supporting United in the mid 80's...
In this scenario you're talking about wanting Liverpool to win. LIVERPOOL... which would also help them in their fight to get european action next season. There's a possibility they'll miss out and I'd love to see it happen!
Liverpool are 12 points behind the CL places. Top 4 was dead for them weeks ago. Get a grip.

English teams who have won the league three times in a row:

1x Huddersfield Town (1923-24, 1924-25, 1925-26)
1x Arsenal (1932-33, 1933-34, 1934-35)
1x Liverpool (1981-82, 1982-83, 1983-84)
2x Manchester United (1998-99, 1999-2000, 2000-01 and 2006-07, 2007-08, 2008-09)

I guess if City win it this season there's a good chance they'll win it four times in a row with that to aim for.

Sky invented football in '92
Not really true though, when the Premier League was first formed in 92 Sky had nothing to do with it and the clubs had agreed to accept an offer for the rights from ITV however Lord Alan Sugar who was Spurs (who by the way were the first club to float on the stock market in the early 80's) owner at the time had other idea's and convinced his friends at Sky to make a bid that ITV couldnt match and blow them out of the water.

I absolutely detest how this thread even exists.

Imagine hating Arsenal more than Liverpool and City.

You're not Utd fans. You're Spurs fans lads. Absolute plastics.

If you don't know that Liverpool and City are our biggest rivals by a million miles then you never will.

Embarrassing the lot of you.

All of this. Couldn't agree more. Absolutely bizarre, weird that people want City to win it over Arsenal. Inexplicable.

I can at least respect Arsenal as a club. They didn't exist because of some oil billionaire. They have an honestly good squad full of players no one expected them to make this kind of a push for a League title.

My question is WHY THE FECK do utd fans want City to win the league again and again and again. "Because it means nothing"? Stupid thought.

I want Arsenal to win the title and I shouldn't need to explain myself, since I also understand others' points of view who want City to win the title instead. We're all looking at this through different lenses and we all have different opinions about each of the teams. It should also be self evident that a lot of Manchester based supporters would prefer Arsenal to win the title.

1. possible 3 in a row from City
2. possible treble for City

If City go out of CL vs Bayern, maybe just maybe I'll lean towards them in PL, though Pep would match Fergie's 3 titles in a row record.
So what? City have been scoring 90 points regularly and even hit 100 and 98, basically blasting past SAF's best ever points total. Did that cost you any sleep or devalued our/Fergie's incredible PL record? Hell, Liverpool have done high-ninety-point seasons a couple of times!

Even if City win the quadruple some day, it'll mean nothing. The media will make a meal of it, sure. But with the financially doped squad they have, to me it's just the same as doing the treble, which we did first.

If you think it's the ones who want Arse that have to explain themselves, you deserve a ban for cluelessness

Give over. Who gives a shite if Arsenal win a league title. It hasn't been a serious rivalry in over a decade, mainly because we've both been pretty rubbish.
That's what I find interesting here. People treat Arsenal as a rival to United, but what's the basis of that? That decade (not even?) that things were close in the 2000s? Has this rivalry ever existed before or after in both clubs' 100+ years of history?

While City is a true historical cross-town rival of United. It may often have been a low-key rivalry because of City's level in the league (or outside of it), but to me, this seems much more 'real' as a rivalry than 'we competed for titles and had heated matches for a couple of years 20 years ago'.

It’s like people keep repeating this to themselves until the believe it.
They’re on for the treble and they’re still having to give tickets away to fill their stadium.

United have won a league cup and might win the FA cup and Europa League and they’ve got enough demand to fill Old Trafford 4x over, at least

They’re a small club with a world class team

This. Otherwise I’d love to see Arsenal bottle it and send their insufferable fans and manager into meltdown.

History won't care about that.

Simple....it's not that I want Arsenal to win it. It's that I don't want City to win it. No other team in EPL history has won 3 titles in a row other than us. If City win this year that will indeed be 3 titles in a row. So that means that I cheer for Arsenal to get it done. It's better than City doing a "three-pete". In fact, the only way I'd ever cheer for City to win this year is if Liverpool were the ones top of the league right now...

Proper club that has built their team in a natural organic way and any success they have is far more of an achievement than anything City do.

2 ways to look at, City's success doesn't really hurt as a Utd fan because they aren't really City anymore, Arsenal being a proper rival and a club I respect should mean I don't want them to win, but nah, feck City anyway.

Between the guy saying he doesn't understand why Mancunians don't want City to win as it's better for the city's economics, and this thread, there's been some razor sharp satire on here today. It's meta as feck.

You can want neither team to win.

Why is it so hard to understand that..

And yeah, if City win again, they will equal our record. And if they keep collecting titles, they will catch up and even surpass us. No, feck City winning the league. Titles are titles. They go into the records and into the cabinet. And feck it even more if their win is delivered by Liverpool win. No way.

It was more than just for a couple of years, from 97 until 2003 (oh and half a season in 2007/08 when Arsenal fans thought they were in the title race ). Oh and the pen shoot out in the FA Cup final 2005 was heartbreaking for us. It was a proper and intense rivalry.
But in the grand scheme Arsenal should not matter much now. They may as well win the title this year because most probably City are going to win the next 2 anyway.
