If you want to play out from the back then it has to happen and they have to deal with it. We don’t have a midfield technically good enough to do it. Milan have been playing out much better than us, despite our press.
Pereira has swapped with Mata
Feels very disjointed at the moment. Think James for Mata and even Fred for Matic, game is too slow.
Just tuned in 20 mins ago and we look pretty shite. Just kept shape and trying to contain Milan it looks.

You get Gomez in this side or eve Dalot on the right and play Pereira where Mata is and we would look better.
Having watched probably 15 Milan games last season...I wouldn't feel confident saying we are better. Paqueta Kessie Caldara are all quality young players in addition to Piatek and Romagnoli, they have potential to be real quality if they are coached well.Are we actually worse than Milan?

I hate how this team is always unable to play out from the back. Every attempt just fizzles because one player ends up thinking for too long or placing a wrong pass. It is probably a result of amassing attacking players and midfielders with pace and/or skill but little football IQ. In certain matches, Shaw looks somewhat comfortable while playing out the back but that is pretty much it. Sincerely hope this team gets further revamped to bring in players who are smart on the ball. This team is crying out for clever footballers.
Not sure we're letting them, they're just looking a lot better at holding onto it than us, we don't have the technical prowess or composure to resist their press at the moment.

Milan is dominating play, its so hard to press playing this deep. Where is the playing on the front we have been promised?
Weird observation, but Ole seems to have gotten much more handsome over the summer.

Pre season friendly of course, but i’ve watched all our other games and this is the first one where we’ve really fallen back on some old habits. Completely relinquishing possession to the opposition and lack any sort of cohesion up front when we get it back.

What does Ole see in Matic to warrant so much playing time ? It boggles the mind.

We look a different team than in the previous games. It doesn't help that Mata, Matic and Pereira are doing nothing.

Midfield of Matic, McTominay and Pereira is bottom half of the table quality.

We need a right winger, desperately. Our attack is so lop-sided. On that counter, there should have been three players near AC Milan's box, but because we have no right-winger, we only have two. Think we are going to suffer if we don't play a proper right-winger.
