Smalling's timing was perfect, not of the tackle, though it was, but the moment he commits to Ali, had to wait and defend the shot and the pass to Kane together and did it brilliantly. Not sure what's crazier, Smalling breaking that up, Alli not passing to Kane for a sure goal, or that he didnt look to initiate the foul with a leg out.
Messe Lingard has always had good control. It's just his finishing that needs work.
He’s always been tidy on the ball, that’s all he’s consistently great at really. That, and he can finish.
Thanks for the reminder ladsAlways has IMO. He's just more consistent.
We're also pressing the ball like demons and playing it forwards with positivity. There are certainly negatives but I'd take this every day over the Brighton game or even the Leicester performance. This is the nouveau United. Miss sitters and fecking fall asleep at the back with the occasional brain fart.
Not talking about pressing the opponent. Our problem at Brighton was not pressing them. I'm talking about being applied in your game, in your passes and wanting to play.So you are telling me that they have instructions to press high up the pitch and most matches they just decide not to?
Haven't seen much Pool, so can't say about them. But City are in their own league with it, Spurs are horrible but not nearly the same as City imo.People go on about City and Liverpool's tactical fouling (rightly so), but Spurs are up there too. Although they don't make much attempt to disguise it - thugish.
