Similar to Kounde. Though Barca did leave it pretty lateWow! Seems that Chelsea leaked this way too early.
Definitely, and if it's an English player from an English club, forget it.It has become impossible to get decent players for reasonable fees from English clubs.
Problem with this talented kids is they want game time assurances. Nobody want them to go but they need to accept they are third choice. Of course if they train and prove the manager they are better they will get their chance. But lesser playing time means their development become slower.Whether he’s ready right now isn’t the the question. With reasonable playing time he could very quickly develop into the sort of player Chelsea would drop £60m on. Buy back clause, if true, somewhat eases that annoyance but we’ve now lost 3 brilliant CBs in consecutive windows. That’s depressing, regardless whether people think he’s ready for Chelsea or not.
Tell us how you really feel
Everyone reported it at the same time, so I'm leaning towards a permature leak from Chelsea.

Apparently he played 10 games as LCB so it’s okay. Despite the fact Koulibaly is a LCB.Weird signing considering he'll be behind Chilwell. For 50 million you'd expect him to start surely?
This is where as a club you have to have the balls to play them though. Can’t have it every which way.Problem with this talented kids is they want game time assurances. Cho prime example for that. If he went to loan he would have developed lot sooner. But with limited game time he had his development became lot slower.

True. And even saying that surely the best way to play a promising young CB is as part of a back 3? Not much can go wrong if he has Thiago Silva and Koulibaly either side of him babysitting him. Seems like the ideal conditions for him to blossom. This is where as a club you have to have the balls to play them though. Can’t have it every which way.
It really is bizzare. This is similar to when Abramovich brought in SWP for big money when Chelsea already had Duff, Robben, and Joe Cole. Y'know for depth.Apparently he played 10 games as LCB so it’s okay. Despite the fact Koulibaly is a LCB.
Chelsea are just bidding for players utterly randomly
He’s been badly injured for a long time. Like will he be the same again badly injured.Don’t they have Chilwell?
A lot of money to spend on a position when they have him already.
Brighton did the same for Ben white deal with arsenal too if I remembered correctly. After cucurella where will boehly stops as his next target. Fofana or gvardiol. Probably de Jong it seems.Tweet

For what it's worth - this guy has been Tier 1 for Chelsea since the Boehly takeover.
Very good point.True. And even saying that surely the best way to play a promising young CB is as part of a back 3? Not much can go wrong if he has Thiago Silva and Koulibaly either side of him babysitting him. Seems like the ideal conditions for him to blossom.
Would assume Chilwell's recovery back to his best level isn't going as well as hoped and that's why the club have opted for another expensive signing there? Chilwell barely featured in pre-season and from what I've read (didn't watch any of the friendlies) he wasn't all that great when he actually did play.Don’t they have Chilwell?

Arguably the biggest part of our attacking weaknesses last season was our wingbacks got hurt - the dropoff from Chilwell / James to Alonso / Azpilicueta was and is absolutely massive. After Lukaku got hurt last October and when Chilwell and James were still fit we were absolutely slaughtering teams. It really is bizzare. This is similar to when Abramovich brought in SWP for big money when Chelsea already had Duff, Robben, and Joe Cole. Y'know for depth.
Of course, that Chelsea team was pretty much complete whereas this one has glaring weaknesses in the attacking areas that they really should be addressing instead. Still, as top 4 rivals long may they continue to overpay for backup.
You should have at least one memory, he scored his one and only last season against us.I’ve not got any memories that stand out about this guy, but is he worth £52m? He’s surely primarily going to be a sub behind chilwell? Unless he’s someone who can play in a back 3?
They aren’t demanding to be starters. The assurances they want is nothing more than reasonable game time - Sarr and Chalobah played over 2000 minutes combined last season. Colwill could easily eat into some of that and some of Silva’s minutes who will have to be managed even more than last season, and that would have been enough. Increase his minutes the following season if he proves himself. The idea that there is nothing in between outright first choice and getting rid of them is absurd.Problem with this talented kids is they want game time assurances. Nobody want them to go but they need to accept they are third choice. Of course if they train and prove the manager they are better they will get their chance. Even from the start of window we wanted to sign wingback covers. We need to sign proper wingbacks to challenge top 2. We also from the start going after central defenders. And wingers as well. Where it became random i don't know.Arguably the biggest part of our attacking weaknesses last season was our wingbacks got hurt - the dropoff from Chilwell / James to Alonso / Azpilicueta was and is absolutely massive. Getting in a versatile player who can play multiple positions (and who might be better than Chilwell especially as he comes back from injury) seems sensible. Having an alternative for Koulibaly at LCB also lets Koulibaly play in the centre when Silva needs a rest - especially in an unprecedented World Cup year it seems prudent to have options.
