That's a very poor return for what he is paid. I know he plays on the wing mostly, but I don't see him assisting much either.
He's played most of those 26 games as striker. When Ole arrived Rashford was his CF. Then Lukaku came back from injuries and played some games as CF but he was mostly benched in favor of Rashford.

This season started and Martial only played 3 games then git injured. Rashford was then restored to the CF position. At least 20 of those 26 games have been played as a CF.

Needs a 3 week leave right now. Let him switch off and take a break from football. He’s lost any spark. 1 goal from open play in 17 games.

Anyone notice how he flipped a switch when Greenwood came on? Before that he wasn’t bothering to make 6 yard box darts or any insightful off ball running. As soon as Greenwood came on he felt the need to validate himself. He actually started making those runs. We almost scored twice because those exact runs.

He’s a small minded human. Lack of intellect. No capacity to think critically about his actions. He responds off the cuff to events around him (ie Greenwood coming on threatening his livelihood).

The best we’ve ever got from him is when he’s running on pure confidence. He’d still make stupid decisions but they were pulled off with confidence and the risk would pay off more often than not with confidence.

Otherwise, his baseline intelligence is so poor that his utility is wiped when he’s not confident.

Please give him a 3 week vacation. Keep him ‘injured’ from internationals.

He's better on the left. He's also hampered now as he's unable to be dropped due to injury/no depth. Under Mourinho he was dropped at times. It's just impossible to do now because the only people you can replace him with is someone like Chong who is not ready at all. It's an utter mess.

He never earned that contract nor that shirt. He never really showed enough ability to justify the hype. Weirdos just thought they can will him into becoming CR7 mark two just because he's English, came out of our academy and scored a handful of goals in his debut season. Remember that fella who had a similar trajectory at City? Binned ruthlessly and quickly in favour of another young but genuinely talented striker. That's what clubs who are serious about winning do. But that would cost actual money and we can't have that at Manchester "Cash Cow" United.

Gotta love all those blaming Ole for sticking with him though. While they're not technically wrong, as Ole more or less did make up his bed with how he treated Lukaku in favor of Rashy™, let's not try to pretend that not everyone and their mothers hounded one of the greatest managers of all time for not extracting more of this hack. You're not that clever with your transparent attempt at rewriting history here. As if sidelining him was ever a realistic option for whoever came in when the footballing Einsteins high up the board and across the media and fan base already decided that he was an indisputable first team player.

Some laugh at the Welbeck comparisons, and while I was never a fan of his either, I'd take a Welbeck of similar age any day of the week over this kick and run merchant. At least he was able to control a ball. Occasionally.

Spot on. 100%.

Very similar things I have been saying for well over a year. I do wonder about the media and our fans though, if an idiot like me could clearly see Rashford wasn't anything special. I was saying at the beginning of last season Rashford would be at a West Ham level club within a couple of years, we then gave him 200k a week and I really couldn't believe it.

Seems to have regressed from a proactive to a reactive player (waiting for the ball to come to him etc) - doesn't have the striker's instinct either. Believes his own hype too much.

5/10 today.

Guy needs to be dropped for a couple of matches. But for who?

I don't want a 17 year old striker to have such huge responsibility. Not sure if Martial still plays for United.

Garbage player, absolutely no skills, nothing but a pace merchant who can shoot decently, mid table quality at best.

I know I'm being harsh on him but it's time people started saying the truth about him, if he wasn't at United there wouldn't be this much fuss about him. He has some skills that should have been honed carefully but we have made him a superstar and it is backfiring.

He should have never been the number 1 choice, he should have gone on a couple of loans, worked on his shortcomings. He already thinks he's made it and looks like he doesn't work on his weaknesses.

City have a £50m buy back on Iheanacho. He’s the wrong type of forward for Pep’s system but they still rated him.

When he first burst onto the scene, it was his movement and ability to lose the cb inside the box that made me think we found an absolute gem.

If you were to watch tape of him now vs that first year to 18 months under lvg you wouldnt even know your watching the same player

He's changed his game and gotten worse

Believed a bit of his own hype and stopped doing what he was good at — which were basic things in and of it self but he was doing them very well nevertheless. Started fecking shooting from ridiculous positions and doing stupid tricks and flicks which just made him predictable — less is truly more at times. And on top of that, he received a 200+ K a week contract for regressing. We, as a club, do truly live in a bizarro land.

Tbf to Mourinho, I was critical of the fact that during his time here, the confidence of the attacking players, Rashford chief among them, was run into the ground. But here we are again, under a manager who has bet the house on him.

My suspicion is that in a few years, when the story of this awful period is written, Rashford's lack of development (or at least in relative terms) will be one of the things we really regret. I think, despite the last year or two, that if he worked with someone like Guardiola or Klopp that he could be absolutely brilliant. As it is he seems like he's being indulged and pressured in equal measure, neither of which seems to be doing much for him.

Needs a coach to bring him back down to earth, realize he's not Neymar and simplyfy his game, focus on the assets he does have and hone them.

Speed? Yeah, but defenses figured how to shut that down, so he's gotta develop new assets.

I'm not that concerned that he's in horrible form as he's 21 or 22 and players his age aren't the most consistent.

The issue I have is how is he going to get his form back! He's always too reliable on sexy goals- goals from outside the box or finessed shots and all. He hardly is involved in those dirty goals- resulting from chaos in penalty box. He doesn't make any runs into the box, hardly has ever scored from 6 yard box, hell can't remember him taking a shot from that range as well! He's never making the run to come ahead of the marker and is never at the end of any whipped or floating cross. If he can't score these goals, then I'm sorry to say, but he would not score more than 15-17 goals in a season even in in his peak years

Don't recall him scoring many outside the box.

You don't.

Key moment for me was that Dalot cross that resulted in our only chance of the match. Mata makes a near post run, opens up the middle of the box. Pereira is running to the far post where the ball was eventually cleared. Rashford isn't even inside the box.

He's shockingly bad and not even making the CB's work for it like Lukaku did during his poor patches.
Noticed this, no anticipation of what is coming and no instinct on what to do.

How can he assist when he decides he doesn't want to pass?

Overhyped.
Was never really a world class player. Not buying a striker and only trusting Rashford to be the sole #9 was sucidal to begin with, more than half the caf called it, dont know how Woody and Ole were unable to see that.
Rashford just doesnt have that killer instinct, thats really hard to develop, comes naturally.

Wow. Under a decent manager, his days are numbered at this club. Jose was heavily criticised for only using him as a bench option for a while. The media (including the United ones) have hyped him much beyond his abilities.

Head down running, very irritating.

They lived in their own bubble, I think an outside perspective wouldn't hurt at all.

@shamans This is what we were talking about on whatsapp. Making that simple run inside doesn't need to be taught, it doesn't particular coaching. Rashford is just clueless

Little sympathy for Beanz, it seems. I said in the summer that acting like a feckwit would come back and bite him (and Lingard) on the arse in the event of poor form.

He’s one player that can have no complaints. Ole has given him the opportunity of a lifetime and he’s wasting it. His demeanour on the pitch is terrible, too.

Of course, he can always comfort himself in the knowledge that he is one of the 00.12%...

Ole took a massive gamble that didn’t pay off by trusting in Rashford. Though to be fair, Martial is his preferred striker and his injury has been a massive loss to a team that already struggled for goals. I honestly don’t think we’re that bad, but just can’t score, which is an enormous problem for a football team! I feel that if we had a decent goal scorer (Vardy would be a good choice), we’d have picked up far more points and wouldn’t be in this crisis.

Hilarious that Ole put him on 250k and shoved our only goal scorer out of the team.
Supposedly because Lukaku wanted to go... That's just a crazy excuse for me. A player leaving doesn't mean you have to let him if you have no replacement ready. Agreeing to this decision in particular will be the end of him at the club.

Spent 900m

Let's not act like we don't fecking spend

Huge difference between a gamble and just plain sucide. Our attack was shite to begin with and to gut it furthur was sucidal.
Not to sound too pessimistic but I dont reckon just a single addition would solve anything. Refuse to believe that Woody who inept as he is did not see this coming.

If we had any sense we’d replace him in the summer. He’s been awful for ages.

Because he was reduced to a bench player which is exactly what Rashford should be at this moment. Well, that's what I've read.

Not playing well, like the rest of the team. Looks under pressure and feeling it.

I do wonder is he fully fit? Doesn't look like he's firing on all cylinders.

Still he's a talented player and we've less and less of the these days so, you know, let's cut him some slack.

I’m convinced it’s partly due to that horrible fecking haircut that he’s been sporting these days. What’s all that shit at the back of his head?
