Lets just say I'd be more opposed to 100M+ for Rice than I'd be for <=50M for Mount.
For the fecking last time, when people get it through their heads that Wout was signed as emergency cover in January when it was difficult to sign anyone.I'm split between it being naivety or arrogance, thinking the likes of Weghorst, and now Mount, is good enough to get us competing for the title again.
He was talking style wise, not ability wise, I still can't believe there are people who can't differentiate those two things. You genuinely believe anyone telling you that Mason Mount is the closest thing to Modric?
Don't pretend like Weghorst wasn't a preference of Ten Hag's.For the fecking last time, when people get it through their heads that Wout was signed as emergency cover in January when it was difficult to sign anyone.
How were they the closest things stylistically? My question wasn't narrowed down to ability so I don't really see why you would frame it that way.He was talking style wise, not ability wise, I still can't believe there are people who can't differentiate those two things.
That's amazing!, He seems always in pain when playing.Fernandes is a machine. Hasn't missed a single game in his career through injury.
It's the CAF, people will convince themselves shit is gold when united are linked to a player or when a player breaks put from the academy. This “tactical flexibility” stuff is a joke, right? He’s not a no.8 because he absolutely lacks the passing range and positional discipline to play as an actual central midfielder. He’s not really a no.10 because he’s nowhere near creative enough, and his average league goal tally is 6 in the 4 seasons he’s been a mainstay at Chelsea. He’s nowhere near quick nor good enough at dribbling to play as a winger. He’s also (of course) not a striker.
Being pretty mediocre in a bunch of positions doesn’t make you “tactically flexible”.
Everything is a preference, how does that negate what the previous poster said?Don't pretend like Weghorst wasn't a preference of Ten Hag's.
WTF are you on about? You said Weghorst was signed for a title challenge. Of course he was selected by Ten Hag but that's because there were limited options in January.Don't pretend like Weghorst wasn't a preference of Ten Hag's.
We were in a title challenge when we signed Weghorst?WTF are you on about? You said Weghorst was signed for a title challenge. Of course he was selected by Ten Hag but that's because there were limited options in January.
Only as a long shot, there were no other options and we needed a striker because Ronaldo fecked off.We were in a title challenge when we signed Weghorst?
Very speculativeOnly as a long shot, there were no other options and we needed a striker because Ronaldo fecked off.
It was a a year or 2 ago. It's not what I believe, it's just an opinion. You genuinely believe anyone telling you that Mason Mount is the closest thing to Modric?
For years now we've all been saying that what this team is crying out for is an unathletic, sub-80% passer who can't beat a man.
Feck off, no way.Greenwood. Easily.
Well, why don’t you just tell me your preference names based on the graphic that you want to use rather than going circle criticising the argument because your criticism hasn’t conclude anything.I'm not criticising you for not knowing anyone, I'm criticising the argument. I don't personally have access to something like wyscout, or whatever to screen on metrics, but it's not hard to do something like the following:
This graphic was 2022 I believe, but the point is it's fanciful to suggest the profile just doesn't exist and start an argument from that position. I see the same sort of arguments in the Kane thread.
Cafe in a nutshell these days.Greenwood. Easily.
What position do you see him playing?I see the anti English mob are out in force again.
Mason Mount isn't a bad player at all. It's only the price that worries me with this one. I have seen enough of him at Chelsea to think he could definitely be a decent player for us. Not writing him off because of this season as Chelsea have been an absolute car crash.
Last few years he's been one of their best players.
You are correct about the date and FFP. If an acceptable offer came early, I think it gets done quick.I have a feeling that we're just being used again to get a new contract but if Mount is really saying no all renewal attempts from Chelsea- this could be a transfer that gets done early.
Chelsea need to sell some players before June 31(I think, not 100% sure on exact date) so they can balance the books for the 2022-23 season for FFP. If they can't get other sales through in time for the amounts they need, selling Mount might be something they have to do.
They have been quoted asking unrealistic fees for most of their players linked for sale - like ~£25m for Loftus-Cheek from Italian clubs
aye but they’re feckall alike style wise eitherHe was talking style wise, not ability wise, I still can't believe there are people who can't differentiate those two things.
They are nothing alike though, whether we are talking about 2 years ago or Modric from his Tottenham days. That opinion is fairly strange especially if it comes from an analyst. It was a a year or 2 ago. It's not what I believe, it's just an opinion.
I might have mixed the Modrić part but he did say Mount is a type of the player who usually doesn't come out of the youth system track in England. They are nothing alike though, whether we are talking about 2 years ago or Modric from his Tottenham days. He is typically the type of attacking midfielder that come out of youth systems in England. A powerful attacking midfielder with decent technique and limited creativity or dribbling skills, he is basically a better version of Kevin Nolan.I might have mixed the Modrić part but he did say Mount is a type of the player who usually doesn't come out of the youth system track in England.
I edited the post.He is typically the type of attacking midfielder that come out of youth systems in England. A powerful attacking midfielder with decent technique and limited creativity or dribbling skills, he is basically a better version of Kevin Nolan.
He isn't a version of Kovacic either, he is no version of any player that is a high level technician. And it's an attacking midfielder that is subpar when played deeper.I edited the post.
None of the prominent English midfielders are anything like Modric though so he may well be the closest. Much like how a bicycle is closer to a Formula 1 car than a tub of ice cream. They are nothing alike though, whether we are talking about 2 years ago or Modric from his Tottenham days. That opinion is fairly strange especially if it comes from an analyst.
Liverpool would sign Mount in a heartbeat imo, Klopp would turn him into a monster, I don't get some posters Liverpool won trophies with Wijnaldum, Henderson and Fabinho in midfield and Mount is better than Henderson and Wijnaldum by quite a distance and we want to compete for those same trophies it's not like Mount is some abomination he is a good player who probably in his career has had one actual coach and he won the CL with him whilst being an integral member of the team70m for a squad player! No thanks. Reminds of someone Liverpool would sign before Klopp arrived.
