The temporary close of the poll was not "rigging" it. Plus it was re-opened anyway so anyone that wanted to vote for CR could just vote for him now. "Rigging" has very different connotations. Such a bizarre thing for the "CR Brigade" to whine about. The poll's been open for ages again so if CR really had more votes, he'd have them. There is just no rational talking to fanboys like the Donald Trump of CR7 fans.
How is it not rigging when it was closed when Ronaldo was winning the historic 3-peat then reopened on a United forum when Messi trashed Liverpool then closed again when he bottled the 2nd leg?

Sure, but an accusation that is taken to civil court? Whole different story. The fact that he won’t step foot onto US soil because of the case speaks volumes
If you’re rich enough, someone can accuse you and take you to civil court

So why isn’t every rich person accused multiple times of that crime then? There’s plenty of dudes out there who would make Ronaldo look like a pauper.

It's also a great way to take the accuser to the cleaners if they don't have a leg to stand on. In any case rape is incredibly difficult to prove, so I don't think we'll ever know the truth of this one.

Very low percentage conviction rate, yes.

You do have to get to meet them first to make any accusation. Have you ever met someone who has 11 or 12 digits in USD? I haven't

As great as Ronaldo has undoubtedly been, it still baffles me when some people claim he's the greatest footballer of all time.
It's a way of saying that he's the greatest and "most clutch" goalscorer of all time which might not be entirely correct, but on top of that at least in parts of his prime his dribbling was great to good etc. However he falls short in the areas where the other GOAT's excell.

Its the basketball equivalent of saying the greatest dunker of all time is the greatest player

Because it's not affecting the overall vote totals in any way. Unless you actually believe there was some mad rush of Cristiano fanboys signing up to Redcafe just to vote in this poll then disappearing when they discovered it closed, anyone that wants to vote in the poll can vote. That's not "rigged".

What's actually more telling is how the percentages shifted right after United signed CR, which means that some of his votes are just people voting for the guy on their team.

And Messi is just a consistent hazard according to you.
You’re not too clued up on things. Here’s something that may help you. I’m here to help.

https://www.espn.com/soccer/chelsea...rd-can-be-as-good-as-messi-says-cesc-fabregas

Pay particular attention to what Fabregas (someone who knows a lot more about Eden Hazard and Lionel Messi than you) says about what Hazard has to do to to reach Messi’s level. In fact, I’ll help you out and quote the relevant part because you probably struggle with reading English:

“When asked Monday whether Hazard is capable of reaching the kind of heights Messi has touched in his career, Fabregas told reporters: "He can be one of those for sure. He can be up there [with Messi] for sure. He's had a fantastic season, I just want for him to do it again next year and to be even better.”

‘’Do it again’. I.e. CONSISTENCY. OVER SEASONS. OVER YEARS. What in fact did Hazard do the next season? He went 30 matches without scoring a goal.

Putting you on ignore now because you’re a troll.

Just want to see Scholes hit a volley.

Doesn't matter if it's you who said it or Fabregas. Hazard is nowhere capable of Messi and no its not just consistency.

That's not true. I mean it's just a poll so I don't care but at one point this got locked at 50% because Ronaldo was winning. Like I said, doesn't matter its just a fun poll but wanted to point out the fact.

When the poll between CR and Pelé is 86% in CR's favour it means something it's not working like it should.
Similarly when a poll on a United forum favors Messi, something is not working like it should. :smirk:

Sorry but that’s a moronic take. I’ve already said Ronaldo has a great mentality but a rape case doesn’t exactly scream role model does it? This is in regards to people saying he’s a role mode. That’s why it was brought up.

I’ll say. There’s not one thing that CR does better.
I know Pele was good at alot of things, but that’s quite a bold statement to make, and quite unnecessary to be honest.

For example, Ronaldo is good at a lot of things too, there could be a lot of things they are at around same level during their respective peaks (finishing, heading, long shots, athleticism, tricks etc), while there could be some areas Ronaldo are even better at (mentality, longevity, pace etc).

And regarding longevity, for example, Ronaldo has already scored 300+ goals some time ago after he reached 30 yrs old, and still in top goalscoring form even at age 36, while Pele had less than half the numbers since reaching 30, and was no longer relevant at around age 34. And this is one area where Pele clearly wasn’t better.

Not saying which one of them is better, as it’s very hard to compare across different era, especially when both of them have dominate in their own for very long period of time, and have similar amount of output and success throughout. But to suggest there not one thing he does better, is abit too much and uncalled.

Honest question, do you know what you're talking about? Because I admit that I have no knowledge of these things and intuitively I could imagine both are the case: It could be a completely different situation because Messi was out of contract but it could also be the other way round since he still was a Barcelona player until recently, triggering some kind of exception or something similar. There are many laws that leave some room for interpretation.

Moreover, I noticed you come across very angry in the majority of your posts. I don't know if that's intended or not, but I think you should relax a little once a while.

Oh look @Zehner, I knew what I was talking about.

Hence the dismissive tone at the gullibility of people believing an unemployed person wouldn’t be allowed to accept 200k /week, because last time his employer gave him 2 million /week.

I swear some peeps are so ridiculously gullible it’s mindblowing. It was obviously always a law regarding the renegotiation of existing contracts, as it’s makes no sense whatsoever otherwise.

Do you honestly that believe that clubs can have players play for free?
No.

I just know he absolutely could have accepted a much smaller wage, if he’d wanted to. I never made an argument as to whether or not he should.

This absolute drivel that a Spanish employment law prevented him from accepting more than 50% wage reduction when he was out of contract and therefore unemployed was the only thing I had an argument against, it was quite clearly utter bollocks.

He’s not better at any of those things. Pele could run the 100 metres in 11 seconds. He played 1300 matches in 80 different countries over a span of 20 years.

By the time Pele got to 30 he’d already played over a thousand matches. He crammed a lot more into his first 10 years than Ron did. So you’re not comparing like with like. Ronaldo is basically the same age now as Pele was when he retired and he’s still played about 2-300 games less.

Pele’s mentality is better than CR’s because he never failed anywhere or in any competition, unlike CR. He took over major tournaments as a teenager, which Ronaldo was unable to do.

I do accept however that CR is good at a lot of different things.

Leo himself said that he was ready to cut his salary twice: "I reduced my salary by 50%, and they didn't ask me for anything else. The rumors that after that I was asked to give up another 30% of my salary are a lie. This did not happen, it is not true. We did everything possible, but I couldn't stay. I have always been honest with the fans. There are a lot of rumors around, they are often false."

This has nothing to do with my post. Was he able to play for free, yes obviously, was he able to say “I’ll play for a Depay wage”, yes.

Should he have done so isn’t a part of my argument, I’ve just always maintained that obviously he could (not should) have accepted a wage that would have allowed him to stay, and you muppets all started crying that “the league wouldn’t allow it”, “Spanish employment law wouldn’t allow it” etc because it made you feel warmer inside.

It’s odd because I know Rooney and Keane would’ve fecked right off if they didn’t receive their big wage increases, it’s just a regular part of life.

He said he was never asked for additional reduction. I understand you are merely arguing that the 50% law was rubbish. Would you mind sharing again where that law was disproven? Not saying it’s not bogus but I’m just curious

I don't know, how can you be so sure? We are comparing players across 2 completely different era, its really hard to claim for sure that one is not better than the other at anything. Sure Pele did play more games if counted those friendlies, but then football back then were in general physically less demanding than what we seeing today, its not exactly the same game back then and now, so the only thing we could do is to compare how dominant they were over others from their own era. For example, at least in terms of longevity, I think both Di Stefano and Puskas age better and last longer than Pele back in the old era. While Ronaldo ages better and last longer than other footballers in modern era too.

Anyway, I've always hold Pele in highest regard too, so there's not many I'd intend to argue against. Just that, at least its fair to say, Ronaldo does age better, so he must be better at "something" too.
