How come it doesnt mine fuel resources. I picked the FOB with the letter B under fuel resources as I thought it meant I would get more

They really are stingy with fuel
It should be. The whole resource thing is a bit weird and I still don't get it completely. The little boxes that pop up every now and then give you the numbers but basically you've got mining (pulling in raw material) & processing (turning the stuff in containers into the stuff you can use)....and then online & offline. I'm not sure if the rating for each material type relates to the amount it pulls in, how quickly it processes the containers, or both.

Just started the game and the first hour is a clusterfeck. Not a clue what was going on. Please tell me the game is going to improve.

It gets infinitely better. I'd heard the opening was the best ever, but I found it pretty bland and not representative of the rest of the game.

I'd say the true fun starts a few missions in, when you get items like C4 as it opens up so many ways to approach it.

I had a marathon session yesterday. Got up to about mission 15 and did a lot of the Afghanistan side Ops. Unlocked all buddies too.

I beat the first 31 missions but at the moment can't really be bothered to do the rest, and I already know the stupid ending. Really enjoyed it though.

Up too mission 39 now. What a great game. I'm going to get MGS3 and MGS4 next. Don't think I can be bothered with 2.

I wish I hadn't read some of the previous games stories as I'll know a lot of the twists. Also I watched peace walker on YouTube and that David Hayter's voice is a bit too rough

David Hayter is Snake!

MGS2 gets a lot of hate - most of which came from the fact that you played as Raiden - but I really liked it. I'd definitely recommend playing it, if you're going back to play through the series.

Mission 13 is a bastard. I Fulton the truck but can't escape the soldiers. Any suggestions?
D-Horse is your friend here. Set yourself a marker to the shortest escape route beforehand and aim for it, zig-zagging every now and then to avoid running into them when they get in front of you and fire.

Also, where are you fultoning the truck? At the airport or at one of the checkpoints? I've done it both ways, but found it easier to follow it to the final stop and hit it there.

I jumped into one of the tanks and managed to kill 3 of the bastards before the last one pulled me out of it (at which point you want to run like hell away as the tank will explode). That last one I managed to kill with my assault rifle, but only because he was already badly damaged from the tank blasts. I survived by the skin of my teeth. Fighting them on foot is a bitch.

If i'm fighting them, I use the .50cal rifle and kite them. A headshot will take all their shield and then two more will nail them.

I went straight to the airport with a rocket launcher. There's two buildings beside the truck and then the airport wall. If you stay between them then the enemies end up outside of the wall and occasionally come in where u can rocket launcher them. And you sprint behind the other building to get ur health back. It was really easy that way

You heard him in peacewalker? Sounds like big boss was dying.

Think I might go MGS3 > MGS 2 > MGS4

I'm hitting it on the road. It's just passed through the first checkpoint. I legged it to the far road and blocked the road with a 4x4. I planted some C4 too. I've tried a few different ways, I tried blowing up the first tank but the truck drives off if you do. Ive hijacked the last tank and tried killing everyone but I blew up the truck. The closest I got was by crawling behind the truck, fultoning it and running for my life. I got within 100 metres of my pickup and they gunned me down. Stealing the truck is useless because they just blow it up when you drive off. There has to be some way to lose the soldiers.

It seems to me that you guys are talking about the mission 16 with 4 skulls cause youtube shows mission 13 as completely different.

I've also got 100 Percent on this game. I never want to do another mission task again. 'Listen to the conversation this fecker is having with a prisoner' *Shudder*

Even though I don't think Sutherlands's performance as BB is stand out, I do think it was a better way to go given the tone of the game. Hayter's voice is over the top and in terms of actual acting in the serious bits, Kiefer's talents stand out, "I won't scatter your sorrow to the heartless sea".

Hayter is Solid Snake though.

Mission 45 is absolute bullshit. I want to put on the battle dress armour to give me a chance but there is no way of aborting the mission and starting it again. You're completely locked in.

You can cheese it using Walker as your buddy and/or crawling on top of the main building where they cannot follow.
I've tried the walker method twice and have failed. Going to try the hiding on a building method with Quiet this time.

The one hit instant kills are very annoying.

I did that mission first try last night. Fultoned the truck then ran like a madman to the tank. Drove that for as long as possible and then finished the last hundred metres or so on foot. I was about one hit away from death when I jumped on the chopper. Quiet was less than useless for that mission though.

I was just about to reply that you don't need to bother with the tanks, as they become unmanned once the skulls appear, so just Fulton the truck and burn away on D-horse. Glad you got it done.

Bit of a tip for people:- The prisoners you rescue that have 'Specialist' traits - Get them on Direct Contracts.

I realised the other day that a few items that I had in development had disappeared because Miller had dismissed the relevant specialist. They have pretty low stats, so once you're filling your units with staff that are ranked A++ and above, the specialists will get the boot and you'll have to re-rescue them again. If your waiting room is full, then they'll get auto dismissed as soon as you finish the mission, so you have to mess around getting rid of staff mid-mission so that you get a chance to contract them post-mission.

Finished it

Really terrible ending. So I'm just a random nobody and not the legendary big boss. What a joke.

Also please don't tell me that I've lost Quiet forever now. They remove one of the better characters who is also the most useful buddy. FFS!!! If I knew I would have made an online upload save to go back too, goddamn it

I've never played any of the other MGS games.

I'm tempted to buy this. Should I?
