Michael Oliver

Ole should come out with the same stuff Nuno did and say that this cnut doesn’t belong in the EPL and should most definitely not referee our games. Absolute cretin.

It’s not surprising we have a very bad record under him, it’s quite clear he hates us and without VAR he never gives us that penalty either.

I'm finding it hilarious seeing all the rival fans claiming we only won because of the referees, as if Oliver didn't give absolutely everything to Villa, the penalty was actually the only decision we did get.

Soft or not, was the correct decision.

Regardless it doesn’t take away from the mess of a game he had. Grealish is the new Eden Hazard. He falls to the floor the ref gives the foul. He didn’t even blow his whistle when Villa took the quick free kick and scored from it.

He gives you a penalty for Pogba tripping himself up and you're all moaning about Grealish getting the odd free kick

Did you see the match or only the highlights?

Yeah, the penalty was a bit soft, but there have been plenty of worse ones given and it was VAR reviewed

Other than that he gave them everything and Minge took out Pogba in a way that will result in a freekick 11/10 times

Grealish running into Bailly long after the play, and he gor nothin. Mings elbowing Pogba, 5 yards from the ball - nothing. Supposedly he’s ranked as one of the best refs in the PL.

Some sketchy decisions, like the no call on Mings, but overall Oliver is a standard issue English referee.

I know most fans often feel the ref was hard on their side after a game, but he didn‘t even try to disguise it this evening. Did anyone see the bit when he gave them a cheap free kick (narrows it down!) and looked like he was trying to get them to play it quick before we got into position? It was near the sideline second half. It was almost uncomfortable how obvious he wanted Villa to get something.

Absolute shite refereeing performance. Literally only had to breathe on a Villa player and he’d blow for a free kick. Hardly a surprise he gave us a pen for that foul. The standard he’d set for contact with player and blowing the whistle, that was basically a stone Waller of a pen. I normally never notice referees but I’m sure this is like the third time this season I’ve noticed him being really annoying reffing one of our games.

I would like to see the people moaning about the pen, staying on their feet after that getting that contact.

Do you think Pogba wanted to kick his own leg and fall over? The contact with the defender made him do that.

Matic should've been booked way earlier just to counter a little.

Have people never been ankle tapped before? It’s literally the best trip up move in the World, it an actual fecking rugby tactic too, that’s how effective it is. You’d almost have to defy the laws of gravity to remain on your feet.

It really a thing of beauty, I suggest those who haven’t, go for a run with anyone tomorrow and do it, they’ll hate you, but you’ll be laughing your head off all day.

Really did a number on martial and his good centre forward hold up play, several times when martial was fouled and no free kick was given.

I was livid at that one near the end. Martial was on the edge of the box, gets tripped and he just looked the other way.

100%.

I actually did it to a friend in school as a joke, and still remember it 15 years later because I felt so bad about it.

same it was infuriating! Martial holds the ball up so well and draws those fouls to ease the pressure and then the referee does you dirty like that!

He's a Geordie prick still sour about 1996, was it ? Shouldn't be allowed to ref another game for us, tries to shaft us every game.

Here I thought this was quite a pro-United performance by the ref and what he let them get away with in terms of fouling. Then you read this thread and start doubting your own eyes. Did VAR even look at the Maguire handball at the end? Thought the penalty for United was correct though.

Yeah yeah yeah Pogba was caught and should have had two penalties, plus how does Mings stay on with the elbow and the Maguire assault yet the only players booked where utd players. Your on a utd site stop the wumming

wasn't exactly stone wall. There are times when that wouldn’t be given, hence it’s a bit soft.

It's stonewall, I'd suggest having a closer look, if you're running past a defender and that defender hits your leg into your other leg, you're not going to be able to keep running, making it an obvious foul.

Incredibly frustrating how he kept letting free kicks get taken too quickly when players were still talking to him. Poor control of the game.

I have had a CLOSER look.

Ive said it’s a penalty, but soft. I suggest you look at the definition of stonewall penalty and google some videos, and you will see what one looks like. The fact that there’s a lot of debate about it shows that it’s not in anyway stonewall.

Pogba should have been given a penalty after the elbow from Mings. Mings elbow is a red card. VAR?

It wasn't anything like those nothing fouls on Grealish the difference is he gave all of them to Jacky Boy.

That penalty was a pen nothing else.

What the... it was a huge penalty, clipped the leg falling to touch the ground.
Only clearer penalties are direct aggressions.

I really do hate evry single one of his performances that I watch, I honestly believe he is completely out of his depth in the PL and the FA should review his performances and demand a lot more of him.

In a word: Amateurish
