My plan of PC + PS5 this generation is looking ideal.

I'm fairly sure Microsoft have enough money that they could just buy every major developer/publisher if they really wanted to if its that easy. it would destroy the industry, but at least they'd win the war.If I was Xbox, and if I had more money lying around, I'd go buy FromSoftware and CDPR too.
They're not going to pay 7.5bn for the company, just to have things "as you were" with the only change being games day one on game pass. ESO and Fallout 76 will stay on PS5 along with Ghostwire and Deathloop (timed exclusive), but there's no way they'll put any of the rest on the PlayStation. So is anyone salty about this? Because this isn't bad news. I don't see MS making all the games exclusive, they want to make money. Bethesda get to make better games with bigger budgets probably. Hopefully MS just let's them do their thing, like shut the feck up and let Bethesda print money... Win win. Huge news!
I got a message saying it's going up to £7 next month. Which is still fantastic value and will only get better.Gamepass on PC is great value at like £3 per month. Don't see that lasting for long
They didn't drop 7.5bn to lock down exclusives just to push consoles, they'll want timed exclusivity that's a given (and yes that probably annoys some people but what can you do?) but this is about making more money, money from XBox owners, money from PS owners, money from whatever device they can get their services on. Let's see what happens anyway, just my opinion...They're not going to pay 7.5bn for the company, just to have things "as you were" with the only change being games day one on game pass. It's about getting people into gamepass ultimately. They didn't drop 7.5bn to lock down exclusives just to push consoles, they'll want timed exclusivity that's a given (and yes that probably annoys some people but what can you do?) but this is about making more money, money from XBox owners, money from PS owners, money from whatever device they can get their services on. Edit: Look at Minecraft, still on PS4 (and everything else), even has PSVR support coming soon.
Minecraft was already released on those formats. They didn't drop 7.5bn to lock down exclusives just to push consoles, they'll want timed exclusivity that's a given (and yes that probably annoys some people but what can you do?) but this is about making more money, money from XBox owners, money from PS owners, money from whatever device they can get their services on. Yeah I'll have it at some point. Probably on PC. Best of both worlds. It's about getting people into gamepass ultimately.
I don't mind it. Just don't feck it up, let Bethesda do their thing and back them.Minecraft was already released on those formats.
A better example would be Obsidian. Once Outer worlds was completed, all their projects were behind gamepass only.
They not pushing consoles. They pushing gamepass. Sony does not have gamepass and will most likely never allow it on their system.
EA would probably cost a lot more than Bethesda, I have seen speculation today it could cost up to 3 times more. And getting EA doesn't guarantee you the football licenses anyway, its just a rights deal, same with Star Wars. It would get you a shit tonne of IP though, everything from Mass Effect and The Sims to Theme Hospital. The true game changer for MS would be if they could ever buy EA. Getting FIFA as an exclusive would be one of the few ways I can think of that they might be able to challenge Sony in Europe.
I believe so. Or near it. It's close to a 2 trillion dollar company.EA would probably cost a lot more than Bethesda, I have seen speculation today it could cost up to 3 times more. I say this is virtually impossible, but I never thought I would see the day one of the 5 big publishers gets purchased by a console - that is a full E3 press event gone! Sony goes toe to toe with Xbox and often comes out on top, but its easy to forget that Xbox is just a small division of MS, Microsoft could buy all of Sony Corp and never miss the money. Aren't they currently the 2nd richest company on earth?
And Bioware. And IO. And Nintendo. The only thing left for Sony to do now is buy bungie

‘Look to empower them, wherever they play’ - interesting line which could be interpreted in different ways.Tweet

If this deal means Tes remains multiplat but also gets a much bigger budget this is a massive win for everyone! Will still be multiplat on the big games getting way too excited some people. In it for the money not to score points you don’t ignore what’s going to be a bigger install base for an established game.
hopefully some of that 7 billion goes to creating a decent engine which isn’t full of game breaking bugs.
Yeah that’s what people are not understanding. There is no way in hell Microsoft paid 7 billion for these games to come to playstation. Any new big fallout game etc will be Xbox exclusive 100%. Maybe the smaller games might make it but Microsoft doesn't need the money they simply just want you on gamepass. Until Sony allows it on their platform you wont have access to them.
People will be more inclined to buy an Xbox, but more importantly, Game Pass. Assume it'll take a long time to repay them, but they no doubt want to build on their numbers. Once enough people are locked in and perceive it as great value, I imagine the price will start creeping up.I'm not understanding where the money for this is for Microsoft. If the PS5 outsell the next Xbox by the same ratio as the PS4 to xbox one then they've just halved their new acquisitions potential sales. I'm just kinda glad I hated Fallout 4 and Skyrim. If this had happened and they hadn't been released I'd be pissed off at having to upgrade my gaming pc as well as getting a ps5.
No way are console sales going to make up for the lost game sales by keeping it exclusive. If they had games for launch maybe but not without any announcements.People will be more inclined to buy an Xbox, but more importantly, Game Pass. Netflix has never been better for me. I prefer the content they produce rather than watching something that I probably seen that’s not made by them.Game Pass price will have to go up eventually, it surely can't be sustainable as it is right now. I know most people see it as great value but there's this slight feeling of unease I just can't shake, same as with all subscription services. I remember when Netflix had just exploded, thinking "wow, this is great. So much stuff, so convenient!". Now, several years and a couple of price hikes later I'm left wondering where the quality has gone. It's like everything on it is just about good enough to keep me subscribing, more out of convenience than anything else, but there's pretty much nothing left on there that's actually great.
I'm not saying Game Pass will go down the same route, but it's not impossible either. Once they've got you as a subscriber, they don't need to wow you anymore.
The point isn't the console sales. It's the subscription that will come with it for most people buying it.No way are console sales going to make up for the lost game sales by keeping it exclusive. If they had games for launch maybe but not without any announcements.
Is there enough PC or second console owners who will get gamepass to play them when they come out? No
Yeah, this is the thing: Microsoft can afford to take the short-term hit, and their main aim isn't to push the hardware anymore. Sony is at a disadvantage in the long-term, as they are a much smaller company, and can't really offer anything comparable to Gamepass.People will be more inclined to buy an Xbox, but more importantly, Game Pass. Assume it'll take a long time to repay them, but they no doubt want to build on their numbers. Its all about gamepass my friend. They want to be the Netflix of gaming that's why there is now xcloud aswell.I'm not understanding where the money for this is for Microsoft. MS are playing a game that likely extends beyond physical hardware, they've got their cloud gaming system up and a service model in place...I'm not understanding where the money for this is for Microsoft.
