We can have a good summer transfer window on a reduced budget with careful recruitment. I'm willing to give Ralf and the management team this summer to see what type of signings they bring in. Hopefully with Pogba, lingard, martial, cavani, ronaldo, henderson, bailly, tuanzebe all going it should free up transfer funds and the wage budget. Then it comes down to us recruiting the right players. There are plenty of very good players out there for circa 50mil or less (nkunku etc).

The problem I have is historically we have not been good selling or buying in transfer windows.

If Xavi can work with limited transfer budget and wages, so should the new manager. The issue is the expectation of the board, the fans, and the Neville/Keane/Rio Pundits.
The biggest issue is we don’t have a creative guy like Laporta coming up with smart inventions to wriggle through. Barcelona are always doing something weird ; there will be news saying that they can’t register anyone due to FFP then sign 4 new players.

Also don’t see any players on our squad taking wage cuts in a way Pique, Alba(?), and some of the others did. Probably the inverse with our lot!

Although saying that, we’ve got a fair players we can try to sell to bolster — issue is that whether we can get them out as most of them are very undesirable down to wage demands and current performance level.

Our two main targets seem to be Pochettino and Ten Haag. They don't/didn't have massive budgets at Spurs and Ajax respectively.

And the expectations should be adjusted to reflect where we are now as a club. This isn't an overnight job to get back to the top. Realistically, we need someone to get us closer, so that when Guardiola finally finishes with City, and this Liverpool squad passes its peak, we're there.

That's the goal, because there's no way we're catching them at the levels they're at now.
It isn't an overnight job but that doesn't mean the expectations aren't high.

Player wages need to be slashed by 75 %.
This. It’s actually insulting how players come here having proven very little and get paid a fortune just to call themselves a United player.

Phil Jones and Dean Henderson are picking up bigger wages than most of the actual world class players in their position playing week in week out for other teams.

Not surprising. Can't keep dropping massive sums on useless players.

We need to be ruthless with our outs though. Raise funds however we can, trim the squad, slash wages, and then be smart with signings. Get some of the free signings in for midfield with Kamara, Kessie, Brozović all being available. Mazraoui is available at right back. Spend a good chunk on a striker.

The following probably shouldn't be at the club next summer:
  • Ronaldo
  • Cavani
  • Matic
  • Mata
  • Lingard
  • Bailly
  • Jones
  • Henderson
  • Pogba
And then all the other randoms who are loaned out like Pereira, Chong, Tuanzebe. Keep martial for now. Keep Amad out on loan. Should be able to raise 40m from that group along with the massive wage savings.

As we can't do it all next summer, use a squad of:
De Gea
Dalot Varane Maguire Shaw
New DM
Bruno Fred
Rashford New ST Sancho

Heaton
AWB Lindelof Mengi Telles
McTominay
Hannibal Van de Beek
New Winger Martial Elanga
So at bare minimum, we still need 3 players this summer after getting rid of all those above. I'd go for:
  • ST: Gerard Moreno/Tammy Abraham 30m
  • DM: Kamara - 0m
  • Depth attacker: Antony - 40m
Ideally we can sell Van de Beek and replace with Bennacer or something, but not happening.

It makes sense, the club is a mid division team so the transfer market will reflect it, They've thrown big money at players it hasn't worked has it.
So why not just get players young ones who want to play rebuild from there, there's is way way to many money grabbing cnuts at OT, these guys can feck off, and use there overinflated wages on young guns with quality there out there , time has come now for UTD to stop being the cash cow for Agents pushing there has been players for 1 last big pay day.
A different approach is needed .

Agree with those you've put as out, it has to happen, cannot keep doing this, the club needs to go back to its roots big time, the trouble there is the Glazers like a pin up player no matter what.

You won’t be getting Abraham for £30m. I believe we sold him for £35m, so Jose would want a profit (probably a big one) if he was sold.

I do wonder if United are trying to sign boot fair scum simply because they don't have the money

Net spend is at about £40m and no big-money incomings seem likely as things stand.
