Blinds who from the truth? me? Are you actually sticking up for this vile woman? Fair enough it's a trans woman but this post is confusing and comes across Trumper like
Look I dislike Trump (maybe not as much as you) but people like you are the reason that when I argue with “Trumper” on their “fake news” agenda I realised they have some truth in it. It is people like you that keeps giving credibility to the other side. You are promoting fake news and think it is OK. Do better or be ready to get ridiculed, not different when we ridicule Trump for his outlandish take.

Oh my god, arming teachers is such a fecking ridiculous idea, Thomas Massie is so fecking stupid. At Sandy Hook and this latest one in Nashville, that would mean kindergarten teachers and 3rd grade teachers walking around strapped all day long. It's just insane. We just have to vote these Republican cnuts out of office and get gun control enacted.

If you want to know why sane people align themselves less and less with Tories/Republicans, this is a peak example of why. An issue like that should be about common sense and nonpartisan, but Republicans like Massie just have zero common sense. Idiots like him should not seat in any form of parliament at all.

What will Republicans say when a teacher shoots up their class? Arm the kids?

The head teacher immediately ran to the source of the gunshots and was killed, a little girl even tried to activate the fire alarm and was also killed. May they all rest in peace.

Why do they all pose with their guns it’s so weird

I’m sure those guns will protect them from tyranny like they say they need them for, be really useful against tanks or drone strikes.

I see that the right are getting their marching orders (not good). Obviously the ticker in the screenshot below expresses the direct opposite of the reality. Entire disgusting 9 minute segment (which I won't post) is introduced with the lines "The trans movement, it turns out, is the mirror image of Christianity, and therefore its natural enemy. People who believe they’re God can’t stand to be reminded that they’re not." Essentially trans people are the work of Satan. I think this may get very dark, very fast. Real dangerous time to be LGBTQ now.

Their line about their right to have armos so they can be able to defend from government if they try to take their liberty is as funny as its crazy.

That's going to get people killed.

I'd be wary of initial speculation purely because of the notion of a trans conspiracy that's permeating the right side of the political spectrum recently. It would simply be used to take the spotlight off of yet another mass shooting.

The root cause of these events is easy access to firearms and the normalization of carrying guns in public. A shooter's motivations are largely irrelevant if there is interest in stopping these events from occurring.
I don't think it is. I believe it's a powerful force multiplier though.

This was like two cops, wasn't it? At Uvalde there were like 800 cops in the building before they did anything.
It was really horrible to watch, because they had no choice but could well have made things worse. I don't know anything about policing in general and even less about American policing, but felt for them when watching that video. Bear in mind they probably have minimal firearms training, and certainly not enough to handle a situation like that.

Who had minimal firearms training?

Cops in general. Which is fine, because their job should not be hostage rescue.
I believe they receive almost six times the training on firearms vs. de-escalation in the academy & have two mandatory training refreshers a year. No doubt the majority of them are in the range with definitive frequency. They have plenty of training.

Negotiators are also cops, just with more time in the career & specialized training vs. front line police.

I'm not pooping on them. They were heroic and did a great job. I'm just saying, they weren't trained for that and you could see it from the video. Specialist units train for this 24/7. These guys had no flashbangs (why?), no overwatch, and nobody in their ears telling them the building layout. Literally no force protection. If the target had a hostage there or traps it was likely to result in dead kids and possibly dead cops. They were lucky it was a [another] demented psycho with lots of big guns, but one day, one of these incidents will be live and bad. Chechen attackers literally did this to draw and kill first responders. It happened in Syria with hostages, and I see no reason why it's not going to eventually end in tragedy here. Once the Ukraine war is over and some of the psychos come home, it's probable not possible.

When marines clear a building, they kill everything inside and ask questions later. The SAS/Seals have got in quite a bit of trouble for that [killing unarmed civilians] in Afghanistan but it's generally been recognised as the only safe route without calling on specialist units.

The Covenant police did exactly what they were trained to do, move as quickly as possible to the active shooter. One could see them start to clear rooms on the first floor, but then changed tactics when they realized the shooter was on a higher floor. That was textbook.

The whole zeitgeist re: mass shooter response was completely changed after Columbine. Before 1999, the police doctrine was to wait for specialized units you mention to get to the scene & then assault, but that just gave time to the shooters & the loss of life was egregious, much occurring after the arrival of the first front line police on scene. Immediately, training changed; even if it was just a single cop arriving in scene, they are supposed to move towards the danger to engage as soon as possible. It does bring into possibility being ambushed, etc., but the training is the training. Perhaps it will morph in the future if a quick response is taken out through guerilla tactics.

That’s what made the Uvalde massacre so egregious; they all had the training, multiple units were on scene with comparable weapons from the off, but nothing was done.

Yea I definitely was not criticizing them in any way! (except perhaps not getting a flashbang out the car on the way in?) You could see how nervous they were and they did a great job. - I don't think it will morph, because as you say, they don't have a damned choice. Loss of life would be too egrerious. There's no real answer to it. Was just expressing how I felt bad for them, walking in to perhaps shoot a kid or teacher accidentally or have some disaster on their hands without knowing their full hand.

I think you're kinda lucky (ironic word) that most of these psychos are losers who just want fame and gaming style kills (possible exception of the old guy in Vegas) - It's also why I don't think that guns are the 'root' of the problem. Because this phenomenon barely happens anywhere else in the world. It's not ideological or anything, just a real disdain for the value of life? I don't know how anybody could ever get there really.

Didn’t think you were besmirching them at all, sorry if I sounded like you did. I think the nervousness was initially due to not having a commander there, I think they were all of the same rank. One of them began to take control & give orders that were followed. But one could definitely feel for those guys, especially the one who just had his service pistol!
