What do you expect him to say? We were trash those games and said it, even on this forum the team got thrashed. He wouldn't be doing his job if lied and said we played great after those performances.
I don’t expect him to say positive things all of the time of course, especially when we’re genuinely awful but when we have Liverpool legends digging the knife into us in the studio, it doesn’t help to see Scholes knee jerk along with them. Some positivity from Scholes even in the darkest of times would go a long way.

Really? I mean saying that Scholes is critisizing because he is jealous of Pogba's money is not stupid, daft and incredibly petty?
It’s not petty. Scholes drew the first blood. How the 2nd party retaliates after irking him is totally out of your hands. If Scholes didn’t want “petty” responses, he should have taped it shut.

If someone shoots you in the knee because you made silly jokes of his mom, it’s totally justified.

Fantastic players. Scholes is the best midfielder of his generation but he’s useless as a pundit.

A good player does not necessarily make a good pundit. If Scholes can take digs at Jose, why can’t Jose take digs at Scholes?
Because one's job at the moments is to be a pundit and the other to be a manager.

Pretty disgusting comments from a man under pressure, won a game and now getting his sly digs in acting Billy Big Bollox.. when he next loses/draws don't expect any sympathy.

Feck off Mourinho. Paul is a United legend and deserves his opinion and to make a living for his family talking about the club he represented and played for many years winning us loads of trophies. Scholes always has the club at his heart when he comments.

It is as if Mourinho can not help himself. Will make a host of reasonable comments and then slip in the extra bit, demeans everyone involved and sours everything he has said. Very, very hard to like Mourinho, for most of his career Utd fans saw him as an odious character, how do you forget that and take to him simply because he becomes the manager of our club?

It's nothing different to what SAF has said in the past. No-one on here would have appreciated SAF's personality if he was the manager of another club either, but since he was ours he was our cnut.

And now all the focus is on Mourinho and do you really think he cares?

I don't know many players who don't like Mourinho and that is the only important part for me.

Should probably point out that there was a good 30 seconds of Jose describing Scholes as a phenomenal player between those quotes. Before the money comment he said something about not everyone being able to be as good as Scholes, which explains why he used Scholes wages specifically in the 2nd quote. Taken out of context like Luckhurst has presented it makes it seem far worse than it is.

It's a bit stupid and unnecessary. It doesn't matter if Scholes is a good pundit or not, he is paid to voice his opinion and Jose doesn't have to agree with him. That attack on him feels a bit childish and it's not like Jose and the team don't deserve critic in the recent weeks.
Mourinho is also paid to protect his players. He’ll use every weapon at his disposal to rebut what he perceives to malicious commentary about his players. Other clubs also have ex-players but we hardly hear them slagging off their ex-employers like our lot

Then Scholes should comment on the game and leave the personal attacks in his courtyard. “Pogba can’t control a game” - that’s just baloney.

Take it to the bank.
Don’t assume you can control what someone’s reaction will be after irking him. The last person Scholes wants to trade insults with is Jose.

Yeah sadly seeing his worst sides now. He is very easy to dislike. When you get the added dire football it is getting worse. At Real Madrid things did really get far too bad and he has never really been great after it. Being a bad guy might not be a bad thing for a manager, but when you are cruel and vicious and not getting any results you can see why things can turn bad really fast for him.

I really do not know how Scholes' comments could be controversial. It is really ridiculous how thin skinned Mourinho is.

Paul Scholes loves the club

why is he not calling Park Parker out for his hateful comments on his Eurosport blog?

Just because Scholes is on the telly having an opinion!? so elitist..

You have to be the biggest Jose fan on the CAF.

Scholes said exactly what people have been saying for months and even before Pogba arrived. Jose has acted like a child yet people will find away to pass the buck on.

Even when we win a game and buzzing.. Mourinho always manages to bring us down with his antics.. can't help himself can he!? always has to be in the media and talked about.. it is like he needs attention 24/7. Such a child.

Mourinho has always been acted like a spoilt brat with no interest in anybody but himself. Great manager but not a particularly likeable person, there is a reason he tends to turn everyone against him eventually.

I saw that thread and there wasn't an uproar about Scholes' comment.
His comments weren't bad per se. He informed the other hosts that Pogba wasn't the type to run games and had a different role in Juve among other non-flattering comments. I think Jose doesn't really like being second guessed on how he uses players. Same with when he was irritated with old Trafford for groaning at the decision not to sub Lukaku

Good on Jose to defend the club and his players. I also have a feeling that there is an agenda by the class of 92 to get Giggs into the job. Scholes is also upset that he did not get the job at United and Ricky Sbragia got the job of the U23.

No I disagree with this. His media work and commentary is putting more pressure on our team. He has no right to earn a living by damaging our current team. Paul Scholes does not own Manchester Utd and if he’s going to continue his punditry then he’s fair game.

I am okay with both comments by both parties.. Pogba played not so great recently, its a pundits way to comment on tv about it. Scholes being a united legend carries more weight and so Jose has to come out and defend his star player. The words used by both parties were bitter and thats how these things go.. perfectly fine in a highly competitive profession. Go on both of you ! May be it bring the best out of everyone and eventually the club will be the winner in this spat

My light bulb blew earlier today and I had to go to the shop to buy another one because we'd run out. I was livid to be honest and from then on the day was a right off.

Scholes says Pogba needs to play further forward to be at his best. He plays further forward against Everton has a great game Mourinho criticizes Scholes anyway.

Some people probably need to watch the video footage first.

And a special shout out to Martin Keown, he really is the bitterest of bitter. Petty delusional cnunt was claiming Mourinho had lost he players and would struggle to make top 4 just two days ago.

As you can see from 04:15 onwards, Scholes just sat there when Keown was spouting utter bollocks. Only a massive pushover of a manager would accept nonsense like that being said about his team.

I say rather ignore what the media says. He can rather say something like "people in media talk a lot and things have not gone as well as we want recently, although we are working hard to turn our form around. Things are obviously not at the very best at the moment since we always aim to win, but the effort is there to work and improve all areas of our game".

Watching the full clip makes it seem a little less angry. He’s very calm and measured and doesn’t come across as disrespectful as the most controversial snippets make him sound.
Sounds fine until he goes off on a tangent about Scholes becoming a manager and being 25% as good as him.

There’s literally nothing to be upset at. He was cheeky, with a twinkle of the old Jose arrogance but he couldn’t have gushed any more over Scholes the player. One sentence about Scholes the pundit.

Could easily have made an article about Jose talking about Scholes in the highest regard but I can’t see it getting too many clicks.

You expect Scholes to interrupt him? And why didn't Mourinho go after Keown?

This seems the real reason. Always it’s bad comments against team , last year and year before when rooney was messing in field very less negative comments on rooney since they are mates. It’s very convenient to jump on mourinho and get him fired so that they can state give it to giggsy till end of season. Co92 should just stop saying too much negative things about united just to look neutral in front of others.

What did Scholes say wrong? Only negetive and its his own opinion, was that he didn't think Pogba is 100% fit. If anything hes having a go a Mourinho for he says more than once Pogba is not being used correctly. Gives Pogba praise in that piece.... Mourinho is a cnut who can't take any sort of questioning of his methods. I've heard several of you say the exact same thing Scholesy said in that vid.
