NBA 2021-2022

Warriors shot 22% from 3,had 15 free throws to 31 and were -12 on the glass but somehow won that game. How do I explain this to anyone

The ring is done. Can't see the Boston team having the nerve in a survival game as long as the Warriors offense does not self-destruct.
They were down 3-2 to the Bucks and pulled it out and are 3-0 in elimination games in these playoffs. Not counting my chickens yet.

Warriors ain't Bucks (who were missing Middleton no?). Trust the Warriors finals experience, and their offensive capabilities. As long as that offense works to the point where Boston are under pressure of catching up I doubt they would be able to answer with their offense (unless they have that freak run like Q4 in Game 1). Always felt the minute their offense is under pressure, they start bricking it.

The Dubs bench outscored the Celtics 31-10 and 6 of those 10 came in the last minute and a half when the game was already over.

I've been permanently scarred from 2016. No chickens for me yet. :wenger:

Boston shot worse throughout the game. Too many turnovers (18) and their primary bench players scored 4 points.

Warriors had only 6 turnovers and Poole and Payton combined for 29 points in 40 minutes off the bench.

And the Celtics have not been gifting the games away.

Warrrios defense especially Wiggins and Looney is showing its class.

Add to that the lack of Celtics bench scoring and Tatum wanting to flop instead of making mid-range jumpers or driving to the rim. Celtics need to get away from this habit of trying to win on FTs

That said, this series is not done. Klay and Poole with some big 3 points in the 3rd quelled the Cs momentum.

The only game that was really gifted away was game 1 and that was by the Dubs. Celtics hit some timely shots it is true but the Dubs perimeter defense in that 4th quarter was pitiful.

Nobody should be writing off the Celtics or believing Game 6 Klay will just show up. This has been an extremely physical series, the refs doing some weird calls as they do, and a close series like many predicted.

Boston are a resilient group and continue to make it a game. Udoka let Brown and Tatum go for 44 minutes each tonight, knowing how important this game was. Still lost.

Game 6 should be another close and intense game, but can see a blowout by either team as well because one team's will might put them over the top to even up the series or end it. Looking forward to Game 6!

GS's defence was a sight to behold in this game, especially in the 4th. Almost exactly what the Celtics have been doing to other teams.

I love watching lockdown defence with that level of intensity more than any kind of free flowing offense, spectacular dunks etc.

I still think this goes to game 7. Whatever happens though, it's been one of the most enjoyable post seasons in years.

Oh, well… I did not intend to disrespect the Dubs, of course. It’s fine margins after a truly looong season for the Cs, and the mental fatigue is clearly adding on to the pressure of the occasion. Good luck to both teams for Game 6!

Think this is going to game 7 and I would think the same if the Celtics went 3-1 in game 4. Too much resilience in both teams.

I just want to thank the Minnesota Timberwolves for being a huge part of the Dubs success.

They passed on Steph in the draft - TWICE.

They couldn't work out a deal for Klay.

....and they traded us all star Andrew Wiggins AND a first round pick.

Tatum has been very, very poor.
Without him the Celtics getting blown out in the first half. Also the guy reaponsible for that run in the 3rd. He ran out of gas

Inexperience vs experience showing imo. Celtics started forcing the issue mismatch hunting and isos, but the role players tonight couldn't really score. And the FT, too many missed FT. Dubs just kept making the right plays when it mattered, Celtics made mistakes

Is Steph top 10 all time if he gets Finals MVP?
He is for me. And if they win the Finals he's a lock for FMVP this year.

Sorry but I still think Steph is overrated.
Do you watch many full games? Curry is kind of a player where, even when he has great stats, the box score doesn't always reflect his greatness. He's become above average on defense (not great, but passable for sure) but what he does on offense is just never seen before. And I'm not even talking about shooting, where he is without a single question the greatest of all time. It's his energy, his running around, movement off-ball, the way defenders have to take into account that he can literally pull up from the logo if they're not close enough, which in turn creates space for him mid-range, ... Should he win another ring and Finals MVP this season, he'll have the rings and credentials for sure, he'll have the longevity, the offensive records, MVPs, and one of the most important ones is that he changed the way basketball is played, his influence on the game cannot be understated and is quite possibly bigger than any other player since MJ or so.

The only way you can call Curry overrated for me is if you place him into a top five with MJ, LeBron, Kareem, Magic and Bird - after those guys there's a tier break for me, but I haven't seen anyone place him as high as top 5. You can easily make a case for Curry to be better or have a better career/legacy than the likes of Duncan, Shaq, Kobe, Robertson, ... And it's incredibly difficult to compare him to guys like Wilt or Bill Russell of course.

Really thought Boston was pulling away with it midway through the third Q when they had a 5-point lead or so, those 3s by Poole at the end were huge in that respect. However just a very sloppy fourth Q by Boston (combined with very good Warriors D of course), dumb "fouls", bad decisions and poor shooting. If they click they are still clearly superior as a team compared to the Warriors but they just can't seem to hold that up for long enough during games.

Hopefully they come out strong in Game 6, but either scenario is fine by me now, a Warriors championship or a Finals Game 7

Not since the lockdown season. Only really 4th quarters now. I've always felt he was kind of flaccid in the big games and in the big moments. I'm sure his stats suggest otherwise, I'm not sure. I can't fathom him being in the same conversation as Duncan or Shaq. I'd take Durant over him too.

What a shitshow from the Celtics offense AND great defense from the Warriors in the first half.

0-12 from three to start, and what - 3 from 7 from the line? 18(!) - 6 on turnovers in the game as well.

Some great defense from Celtics (at times, at least), but both Draymond and Wiggins (again) stepped up big time. If anything I'm surprised this didn't turn into a proper blowout. How the C's were only down 11 at half time is somehow a positive.

Game 6 is a proper toss up now I think. The Warriors are full of confidence, but I think the Celtics will shoot a lot better.

Nail biter!

The turnovers are the killer for the Celtics as well as the Warriors being able to turn up the pressure defensively at key moments in their home wins. Golden State shot 22.5% from 3 and Boston took more than twice as many free throws (they're missing too many of those) but Boston turning the ball over 12 more times (Tatum, Brown and Smart collectively had 10 assists and 13 turnovers) just meant that Golden State got more shots in total, including being able to get to the paint in transition.

27 years for us ffs.

When I see Dubs fans online talking about "it's been too long", I just want to smash their heads into the wall
What you guys don't understand is that the Dubs were historically bad for ages. When they won the title in 2015 it had been 40 years since their last one. They went 13 seasons from 1994 to 2007 where they didn't even make the playoffs and then after the "we believe" team upset the Mavs in 07 went another 6 years without any post season.

This so called dynasty stuff is all new to us. For years we just wanted to be competitive. Now we're taking advantage of something I never thought I'd see in my lifetime. It's like Leicester winning the Premier League but then going back and doing it again and again or in basketball terms, the Kings suddenly becoming the Lakers (present team excepted of course).

Would've been a massive blowout if Curry hit his shots. The one time I watch an NBA game in the middle of the night and he has his worst shooting game ever

Celtics were poor and hard to watch. They barely pass the ball.

The great thing about that top 20 all-time is that it's so subjective and there's really no right or wrong unless you're gonna make outrageous claims. Like I said earlier the top 5 is pretty fixed imo but everything from 5-20 is kinda up in the air, although I feel there's another significant tier break after 20 or so.

I am curious if the Celtics go back to drop coverage on Steph in G6.

Let Steph get 40 points and force him to beat them but making it hard for others on the Warriors to score.

Trying to defend the motion offense tired them out by the 4th quarter and they are always going to get blown out if one of Klay or Poole get hot.

Frankly it’s a bit boring as well. Steph Curry’s legacy will always be far bigger than whether he is 8th or 11th on this subjective list

For people who actually follow the game. I think most casuals will refer to him as "the guy who shoots a lot of 3s".

Funnily enough I think that top 5-10 are the most difficult, the salt of this conversation is players' ordering.

On a side note, yesterday I saw that AD was "bragging" about not touching a basketball since early April which made me realize that I don't actually have any argument to rate him outside of potential which shouldn't be a thing at his age.
