New Gillette ad

I think he plays up to it yeah. He’s not as bad whenever I’ve seen him interviewed off stage. In fact Richard Herring is probably worse.

I agree. I also think it's possible, though I haven't personally, one could hear some of his lines and think 'will you just feck off?'. A bit like this Gillette ad I suppose.

So will Gilette also stop testing their stuff on animals too? Or is that one pc bridge too far?

I understand the message but I don’t get what it has to do with shaving? Or is it just a general campaign by the company?

There is no group of people in this day and age who are as gifted in making themselves out to be a victimized group, when they are the furthest thing from being victims, than white males. This thread alone is evidence of that, even more so for the wider internet.

The ad makes no point of race being an issue, yet multiple people in here talking about “it’s a crime to be a white male these days” and “white male bad”

To be fair to white males, their white privilege just gives them ample time and resources to go on the internet with their MacBook Air and shitpost on reddit.

Also does anyone here know an actual white male person that is offended by this add?

In real life, no. The white guys I’m friends with in real life are all pretty good people. It makes all the more strange to me to come on the internet and see the “it’s a crime to be a white male” type of people around.

My post was aimed at highlighting the stark contrast between the perceived victimhood they profess, and what reality actually is. I wasn’t trying to paint them as an entirely homogenous group who all think they’re victims, but there is a significant population, online at least, who are convinced of this, despite all evidence to the contrary. That’s probably why these views exist mostly online, because it’s too ridiculous to say in real life.

I couldn't agree more on the subject of white males acting like victims. It's ridiculous beyond belief. There is literally not a single group of people in the history of the universe that has it better than the white male in western society.

Louis CK did a great bit on that. Still sucks Louis CK isn't cool anymore :(

Ahh okay, your bit about the MacBooks came across as a bit sarcastic, so I was wondering if you were agreeing with me or not

White guys aren't victims, but I do sense it's popular nowadays to either make fun of them or wind them up. However, I also understand it may be deliberate to create controversy or publicity, which MTV for example aimed at with their 'Dear White Guys' video.

I think its in direct reaction to a minority but still a movement of males (not just white to be honest) who have started campaigning about the apparent abuse of their rights

Women in leadership
Womens pay
Roony rule

All these initiatives has create a group of males who want to fight against them because apparently it is not fair on them, those are only a few examples.

Way too modern for me. I'm from the era where best thing a guy could have is a vivid memory.

Ha, ha same here mate. If I ever forced myself upon an unwilling female I'd have to ask if she'd mind waiting an hour or so for the viagra to take effect.

As for the advert, I'd say that Gillette are preaching to the converted. The vast majority of males in the civilized world accept that violence, oppression, & mistreating the opposite sex are wrong. Now if they could get the same message across to those countries who practice Sharia Law, where violence is commonplace & women are treated like dogshit, then I'd say they really were trying to make the world a better place as opposed to a globalist company cashing in on what is a highly emotive subject. Besides, those males who beat the Sharia drum generally grow beards anyway, so there's little financial incentive for them to push this agenda too hard in these countries. Or am I just being a tad cynical perhaps ?

I didn't like how they portrayed the message. Like some kind of "What not to guide for men" - felt very condescending. But any publicity is good publicity and Gillette played a blinder here, I don't know anyone that buys them but I'm sure they will increase sales off the back of this.

I was trying to be sarcastic in a way to put the point across that white males are so privileged that they have nothing better to do than whine about their rights on reddit. :nervous:

It's a play on their long running slogan, "Gillette the best a man can get". Can men get better an so on.

They're mass deleting comments and downvotes from YouTube  Absolute tossers

This thread is awesome

I thought the ad was a bit cheesy and not executed well although I like the sentiment behind it.

Not sure why some people are outraged... You want men to be abusive thugs?

You would be surprised.

To be fair I have been trying to get my wife to cook the barbeque for years. Now Gillette says I'm not allowed to shave unless she does it I think she is going to have to submit because she hates beards.

I don't know what all the fuss is about.

Thanks Gillette

I just saw the ad and pretty much agree with the first page replies... good message, wrong execution. Also couldn't help but laugh out loud when the black dude stopped the white dude from catcalling women.

Good Ad, maybe very dramatic in a way, but the message is clear.
