My guess would be Sherwood until the season end, and then review how he's got on.

The votes on my home Spurs board are pretty evenly split between Hiddink and de Boer, with other possible candidates well behind although that includes a couple of unrealistic options who probably haven't received votes for that reason.

Of the two I'd prefer de Boer, but I think nothing will happen until the summer and so we'll see how Tim Sherwood gets on in the meantime.

Laudrup was comfortably winning one poll I saw, in the Guardian or somewhere.

I don't understand why anybody thinks Tim Sherwood is up to the job. With so much at stake it seems like an unnecessary gamble.

He's only got 24 votes (5.6%) on my Spurs board so far, compared to 94 for Hiddink and 90 for de Boer.

It will be interesting to see if this debacle has further ramifications. Joe Lewis is rumoured to have been keen to sell up for years with Levy persuading him that he should hang on for the premium price that Spurs would attract with CL football and a shiny new stadium mooted.

"I've got to be in the frame"

What an odd comment by Spurs caretaker boss. Er, no you've not?!

Chris Hughton might be an option. He's done well at Norwich and did well at Newcastle prior to that. I'd say he'd jump at a return to Spurs as head man.

Is this a wind-up? He's struggling for his job at Norwich, and the chance of him getting the Spurs job is probably 1,000/1.

No wind up. What exactly do you expect from him at Norwich? He's kept them up playing good football. Without huge amounts for money spent I'd say that is a good job.

You do realise he spent £35m this summer and virtually all of the players have been woeful.

Have you ever watched a Norwich game? They play horrendously tedious football.

Hughton has under-performed with Norwich this season, they spent quite a bit in the summer.

I wouldn't call it 'good football'.

Similar spend to Cardiff, West Ham and I dare say a good few of the lower league teams. I dont think he spent 35m more 30m but that's splitting hairs. I have watched them and they play with decent wingers and are lacking quality in midfield but who in the lower league isn't. Hooper, Redmond and Fer have actually performed quite well. Van Wolfswinkel has been a bit of a let down but could yet deliver for them as it's only been 5 months. Woeful football wouldn't be how I'd describe it but that's a matter of taste. So you don't rate Hughton then. What of his Newcastle work?

Yeah I don't mind the football they play. I suppose that's taste. Can't all play fantastic expansive football through the middle of the park.

It is a lot for a club like Norwich. Sure Jesus, it's a lot for a club like us!
Yeah it's a lot for one player but for 7 players? That's what 4.5m per player. Which good players cost 4.5m these days?

I think it's fair to assume Norwich would've hoped for a better return on £30 odd million in investments, regardless of how many players were purchased.

OK that's fine but what do you think is expected of him at Norwich? You think he isn't doing a good job at even keeping them up or he's not because in his first year of real investment his team hasn't delivered?

With the money they invested I was hoping they'd be further up the table by now, I want to see Hughton do well so have paid attention to Norwich this season. He can turn it around, but he shouldn't be considered for the Tottenham job based on this season, no way.

Surely if Hiddink is a realistic option he's the best choice by miles? Wealth of experience and successful almost everywhere he's been.

Hughton isn't an option. A lot of Norwich fans want him out and his sides have been booed off several times this season alone. Not remotely good enough for Spurs.

Fair enough. Just seems to me that after a few appointments that havent worked for spurs maybe one closer to home who understands the club might be the route to go.
