Neymar on Mexico: They talked too much and now they are going home (Gone home too)

Undeniably a very talented player, who, at his best, is very entertaining to watch. But the dives are not helping his reputation at all.

My mates who don’t follow football know who Neymar is simply because of all the memes circulating around.

Messi used to toy with defenders as well, but I've never seen them on a mission to "punish" him or whatever so that's just bad excuse. he was never almost universally hated like Neymar is atm. sometimes, when I'm watching a game in pub, you can say from people's comments who belongs to Messi camp and who is Ronaldo fanboy. but what I'm witnessing lately is that pretty much the whole pub is against Neymar when they see him rolling on the floor and crying like a baby, and some of them actually wish he was injured for real. even the most hopeless Messi fanboys wouldn't want that to Ronaldo, but it's completely different story with this guy. he's a little bitch and there's no excuse for that.

He’s a cnut, not sure how anyone can disagree. We all want players to have fight and be competitive, but comments like this are childish and pathetic and any decent footballer wouldn’t come out with them.

He also gave credit to them for the quality of their football. That, of course, isn't relevant, as it wouldn't create a headline and would also not fit into the narrative.
True this. I don't know what the furore is all about. The guy was abused by the Mexicans and he endured it all and led his team to a win.

I don't see what the big deal is with what he said.

Great player with a winning mentality. Move on please.

This teatrical diver seriously irkes me. I hope Fellaini or Kompany break him as Zúñiga did 4 years ago. Let’s give a real reason to cry.
Criticize the post, not the poster...I've always disliked players with his attitude but actually this is pathetic to the extremes. You do know he's been kicked seven bells out of for all his career ever since he broke through, weighting about 40 kilos AND didn't change?

Exactly the type of attitude that we hated Southgate's Middlesborough and the likes on Ronaldo when he was young. Now it would be fair? As in Ronaldo's case, and I do know he wasn't this bad, it will only make him a better player. How about you show him by doing the talking on the pitch and stopping him fair and square? If there's one way to put some doubts in his head it would be this (if only).

And wishing somebody breaks his back is as human as it can be, sans wishing the obvious. You won't last long on here pal, if you proceed with drivel like this.

What a great human being you are. So, tell me, my dear Colombian friend: were you able to see the Colombian players antics yesterday from the top of your high horse? Did you wish them great harm?

I'm not exaggerating, Neymar is the most unlikeable footballer in my memory. Worse than say, Suarez - Suarez regularly looked like a fecking animal in terms of his output, whereas Neymar just comes across as 80% showpony, 20% actual talent. He's so far away from Messi and Ronaldo it's unreal yet he somehow feels like he's the third head of the trident at the very top table.

My mate in work summed him up perfectly (he's not a big fan of footy) - "He personifies every single cliché about modern footballers. It's almost like he's a comedy parody of a world-famous footballer".

It's like someone has drawn him like a cartoon of what an irritating, effeminate, pampered 'soccer player' would look and act like.
To me, Neymar looks like someone you would see in a porno playing a footballer. And not one the main cast, one the ones that watches his wife being bummed by the team mascot. Although after seeing his acting on the field, I may be being too generous with my comparison.

He’s provided some good material for advertising, if nothing else

I searched for Harald Schumacher and saw that he was voted the most hated man in France, beating Adolf Hitler into second
I see, never heard of this Harald chap before, just assumed the OP was talking about Michael who was hated, unjustifiably imo, by many people in Britain and the OP was alluding to hated people in sport.

If you had been around the time of the 1982 world cup you would certainly have known him. Too this day, one of the worst fouls ever seen in football, & incredibly France never even received a free kick.

Across the Universe....from Old Trafford.
Don't use the term 'poofter'
Neymar is not fit to untie the bootlaces of great Brazilian players of the past.

When the poofter does not get the call after rolling around he jumps up like a Shaolin monk.

..and Brazil have been average or worse for years.

Good riddance.

Should have been sent off. What a cnut. It's shocking to say that the World Cup is a better place without a player of that talent, but it really is.
