The guy is ridiculous and it's painfully annoying.

But, this is a City side who haven't even played with a proper striker for large parts of the past few years but create an insane amount of chances. You could have put any of the top level number 9s up there and they'd score goal after goal.

Had they got Kane last season, it wouldn't have been a case of, well, at least they didn't get Haaland but more talking about how Kane's ridiculous and it's painfully annoying.

One positive about him though is he is likely to inspire a whole new generation of proper strikers, which have been sorely missed from the game.
Yes so true. I'm tired of inside forwards and false 9s.

The people who claimed that he was making City worse
He was affecting their balance or something, ignoring the fact that some key defenders had been injured.

Those people in the beginning of the season who said he was going to be a handful and something we haven't seen in this league for a very long time or ever, have been proven correct.

He's just a physical beast with the top top instincts and ability of a pure CF. Fair play to him.
Just shows you those farmers league people are idiots. A great player is a great player anywhere.

We spent 80m on Casemiro and more than 70m on Antony, in one summer.
That's not how FFP works. And even then, the difference for us, playing by the rules, is that even if that was enough to attain Haaland (it isn't), it would come at the expense of no Casemiro and no Antony (or RW of worth) plus leave us with a spent budget for that window.

When you're not playing by the rules, constraints don't apply, and when you have an infinite budget, you can have an artificial xi, squad and Haaland on top. Whether isolated as a sole transfer or as part of a bigger picture, we are not in that financial field. Not even close.

Once City entered the fray for him, he was not attainable for anyone else but PSG, difference being, they actually follow FFP so couldn't have added him to the squad anyway. It's a broken transfer on an unprecedented scale.

Moderately decent player, but it will all be irrelevant when City are kicked out the league, have all their achievements and trophies since the takeover stricken from the records and are cast into the depths of hell, metaphorically, and are left to languish in League 99 for the rest of time.

While his scoring was not at the usual level yesterday, the Arsenal match made him look an overall better player to me. His contention of the ball deep in midfield followed by that pass for KdB's first goal was a huge contribution to deflating Arsenal early. Most of the game he looked as threatening as ever, although he just couldn't get it past the keeper. Two very important assists and in the end the goal for himself made this a well-rounded performance.

He's doing exactly as I expected and that's pretty depressing.
He's in perfect environment to break all the records too. It's a bit deflating for other strikers I can imagine. Normally it would take a freak of a season to score that number of goals and this looks like business as usual.

He's like 1.95 tall and a professional athlete. Yeah he's got an ugly face - should probably grow a beard - but i'm pretty sure the moment his shirt comes off women will forget what his face looks like

He's no longer looking like a shark stranded in a dancing hall, is he. City has done the transition, morphed into something new. And better, by the look of it. You could tell yesterday Arsenal knew in their heart of hearts they were beaten before the first kick on the ball was made.

Wishful thinking. People console themselves with trophies being stricken off but I just don’t see it happening - they’ll weasel out of it somehow.

He has tied the post WW2 record for most goals in all competitions for a top flight English club, with 49.

1 more would put him at 2nd place all time (any time period), only behind Dixie Dean's record of 63 in all competitions.

He's 14 away from that with potentially 11 matches remaining. He has already created history and has a chance to make more.

The next goal has to be to break Shearer's and Cole's EPL record for goals in a season (34 goals in 42 matches). He's only a goal away from that.

Is it me or has he developed his build up play. These last 3 games I've seen he's done well in that department. The ball to KdB for the first was a peach.
I think you'd have to see that as also a collective adjustment - they've come together and adjusted to each other, managed to integrate not just Haaland but also Grealish, and have changed as a team. Stylistically, they are now looking quite different to the past couple of seasons - still an emphasis on control, pressing and ball retention but they go vertical and direct much more frequently and to much greater effect. More multidimensional, less predictable. Can't say I relish the prospect of United meeting them at Wembley for the cup final, to be honest.

Didn't Messi score over 90 goals in one season?

Said before, might as well start looking at non-penalty goals instead. Dixie Dean's record of 63 goals is falling within the next 2 seasons

Well, it's a good thing he's just a glorified poacher and can't do anything else on a football pitch, otherwise he'd be unstopp... wait...

Why are we suddenly talking about haaland banging people and being ugly or not?!
Desperation. Many here wanted him to fail, for obvious reasons, and a lot of the early posts in this thread look really silly now.

7 assists in the league so far. Not bad for a tap in merchant.
Assists combined with created chances, big changes created, final third passes and through balls Is how you judge the creativity of a player not just assists alone, an assist can be just a 5 yard pass to a player who goes on a 40 yard mazy run, or a simple pass across the box to an attacker facing an open goal.
