Feck me, the standards are in the basement at this point.
Literally the effect of Ole. He's so likeable but now all that is asked for is just vibes. I fear for the same 10 years no league title (whilst spending more than anyone) that Arsenal was ridiculed with.

Can some one create a poll to see what is the expectations from Ole this year. A trophy and good run in CL and PL is what I expect. We can create few more scenarios and see what is the general consensus is

Agreed. Moyes was sacked 10 months into a 6 year contract. Mourinho was sacked the same year he got a 2 year extension. Managerial contracts only influence how big the pay out will be and buy managers an extra couple of weeks at most.
You don't really know right, no one does. They might have sacked Moyes earlier if he didnt have such a contract, maybe not as well.

What's interesting is that no one cares about contracts given to Jones, Mata, Grant, OGS as if it isnt the same money that can be the difference between signing a player for the first team or not.

I bet this contract was signed even before EL final but they knew they would be stupid to announce it after the terrible loss, so let's wait till we sign Sancho and everyone is happy.

United and mega ass stupid contracts. No better love story.

Tuchel is great and I think that Chelsea team was better than ours is.
Yet in the 1 match Tuchel and that Chelsea team needed a ref refusing to call a blatant handball to get a draw

Also Ole is 2-1-2 vs Tuchel, so not really a good look for the "great" Tuchel given that he supposedly had better teams than the "PE Teacher" in all those matches

Beat la Liga champions, Real Madrid, Porto(Purtugese champs?), The English champions..yeah very easy path indeed.
Never said it was easy. The opposite in fact. I'm saying it was a doable run for a team that wasn't one of the best sides in Europe but they would have to play well to get there. Chelsea go out way before the final if they play Bayern for example.

he was gonna manage this year anyway so all this outrage is utterly ridiculous, a manager can be sacked at anytime and we've done it consistently, Moyes was sacked in his first season, Van Gaal was basically sacked right after winning the FA cup, Mourinho was sacked less than a year after getting an extension.

I see that good old Redcafe member, straw man has reared his head again.

In my time here I’m yet to see anyone of our fans say they don’t want him to succeed, the expectations of mists of his defenders is on the floor. We lost to Villarreal & all you saw were posters degrading a cup we can’t win at full strength instead of asking how the feck he was out managed so comprehensively in the same tournament 2 years running.

‘reds desperate for him not to succeed’

Head to heads mean feck all. Look at Ole's record against Arteta for reference.

Woodward has done nothing but hand out abysmal contracts since he got here from Rooney to De Gea. This is yet another but as always our fans eat it up at the time.

Absolute debacle. He has proven absolutely nothing.
Subsequent Top 6 finishes…

CAF:
WE SHOULD BE FINISHING HIGHER! & BE IN FINALS OF CUPS!

Ole comes in & finishes 6th, 3rd and 2nd & a EL final & several semi finals.

CAF:
STILL NOT GOOD ENOUGH! WE SHOULD WIN EVERYTHING!

Makes sense. No point having his contract up in the air going into the season.

With Sancho and if we sign Varane he has to win something significant this season or be out the door regardless.

OGS is not the right coach for a club of that size. In a league with Pep, Klopp and Tuchel at clubs with comparable budgets he's not going to make you a serious contender. If rebuilding is his only job then ok, but 3 more years is a looong time for that.

The 3 years is just a safety net in case he wins the PL or CL next season, and PSG come calling after booting Poch out the door

It's this funny thing called progression, amazed you haven't heard of it.

Are you genuinely happy with the idea of the club forever finishing top four and getting to semi finals and never winning anything?

Nobody is happy with that. It’s about living in the present not being naive and understanding we are making progress, there’s a ways to go yet but progress nevertheless.

Would Tuchel have won much with this team/squad?

Ole big problem is getting rid of the dross left behind by previous managers. We have spent a lot on the squad but wasted so much pre Ole.

Tuchel inherited a lot of decent players. Ole might have inherited the likes of Shaw but he was considered a massive flop when Ole came in.
This right here is worth every penny of Ole’s new deal. What an absolute steaming heap of dung. So glad we don’t line up like that anymore.

Just wish they waited this season before committing a LT deal.

Hope it works out for us.

dark days indeed, maybe Mourinho had a point about getting 2nd with that lot being his biggest achievement

I remember straight after that defeat thinking at least we're going to sign Willian, Sandro and a CB before the start of next season.... Grant, Dalot and Fred is not what I had in mind

Crazy offering him a new deal, but I suspect this was done a long time ago and was due to be announced after the Europa league final, but that was put on hold due to shitting the bed.

Pressure is on now. No more excuses as he has been backed and if we don't put up a challenge he needs to go.

Yeah no doubt, he probably signed it not long after January, and it's telling it's not even announced until the day after Sancho.

Shows you they realise it's not exactly news that's going to thrill the vast majority.

The same reason I think we can beat City and Liverpool.
Have we beaten City in a genuine trophy on the line match? I can't remember off the top of my head.
You are not taking into account the mental block we have when we are actually competing for a trophy. Winning when the pressure is off is not the same.

He'll be sacked after next season, imo.
Maybe. I think he is gone by Christmas if they sign Varane and they aren’t challenging for the title.

Then again he has been extremely lucky to be managing during a pandemic, just look at Tottenham (sure they’re a mess) but you can see other managers are hesitant at moving Country.

In terms of what he has done since he has come.. brought Bruno? That man singlehandedly kept Ole in the job. Not really sure what else he can claim to have achieved really.

Absolute pathetic straw man argument.

People argue they want him gone, yes but don’t create arguments that don’t exist.

After the Europa league loss to Villarreal, a journalist askEd Ole, if the season has been a success. Ole responded no. Last season was easily our best season since ole has been here. Even with his own word, it is obvious that we just rewarded mediocrity. At least Ole knows that expectation should be higher than last season

Given how early they sacked Moyes, it could only have bought him a month or two at most.

Of course. The manager who won a major title is actually not that good and the refs were just bad. I've definitely not heard that said about every successful manager ever.

I'm pretty sure Liverpool had a good record against us when they were 4th or 5th and we were winning league titles. I'm pretty sure Wolves did the double over City in 19/20 but I doubt Guardiola cares much. OGS also has a good record against City but who won the league last year?

No one outside of the most biased United fans would seriously argue that Tuchel isn't a significantly better manager than OGS.

No idea what straw man means at all.

and nope not finding any quotes for you. Find them yourself.

People can’t talk enough when we lose, yet can’t be seen or heard when we win. That’s not backing him to succeed

But I’m sure you’ll disagree and say straw man more
