The team lacks bite today, and Pogba is the only one that is doing that (other than Williams at some points in the game).

Normally, McTominay would be the one that offer that "bite" or "on their face" plays, but he's on the bench.

We lack fighting spirit today and Pogba is the best one doing this but he couldn't pull off the play to compliment that spirit.

Did he even play today? I mean I saw him sat in the stands, and also go for a jog and I know he came on, but I can't remember anything from him at all. He was supposed to be our game changer from the bench today but nothing changed.

He wasn't the reason that we lost, but I'll never understand what all the fuss is about him when he can't influence games like these, which I thought was what world class players did.

No doubt he'll have a worldie against LASK and we'll get 10 new pages of adulation for him.

He doesn't have a good awareness. Time after time its what hurts him and causes him to lose the ball in the center of the pitch. Always thinks he has far more space than he actually does, which does lead him to thinking he's better than he actually is. More than anything, what he needed his whole time here but never seemed to get was the right type of coaching to become a natural in that midfield role.

We'll see next season, no doubt he'll be here but I'm not sure if he'll sign a contract, though I'm also not sure if he'll get the teams he wants to spend big on him. Yes he can be a great passer. Yes his dribbling is excellent. But he's just so relaxed most of the time which is not a good quality in there. Like you don't get the feeling that his mind is working a few steps ahead like the best midfielders. Hes a quality player, but hes not "the best midfielder around", and probably not in the top 5. Hes always had the raw attributes to be that, but the mental side of his game just isn't that.

Hes always wanted Madrid or Barca... hes not good enough to be a key player for them because he is just so slow on the ball so often. And his first touch really ought to be better when you look at the rest of his technical ability.

Anyway, hope he turns it on against West Ham and Leicester and then manages to stay fit next season. But with his raw talent, he should be a much better player than he actually is, just unfortunately his intelligence on the pitch isn't up to speed.

Shocking attitude, seems to lack basic awareness. Youtube footballer, will never be it for United.
What is it with our fan base where you all love to ostracise our most technically gifted & only legitimately world class player, yet will adore work horses who in terms of ability have no business even being at the club? Imagine this current lot in our glory years. You would have hated Beckham (Too flashy) & Cantona (didn’t work hard though) but you would have loved Nicky Butt & Phil Neville. Real grafters! That’s what we need in our team, vanilla work horses with limited technical ability! We’re sure to catch Liverpool with that, just need 11 Scott McTominay’s!

Our fans hold us back. They repel quality & welcome mediocrity.

Ability without application is worthless.

I feel sorry for him when he is playing like this. Similar to Lingard, it's hard to tell if he even knows it himself how bad he is at times. Looks just lost out there, like those aliens from Moron Mountain was sitting in the stands doing their thing. I've seen some basketball references used when talking about Pogba but on days like these I always think on Charles Barkley playing without his talent getting crushed by the little girls on that court.

I feel that he gets a lot of unfair criticism at times but I get it now, he has genuine fan boys incapable of objective thought with regards to Paul. Incredibly tiring. I just don't see how anyone would want or could excuse such a performance. It is what it is, and it sucks. If he is to sign a new contract, he simply can't let his head drop like that. He is supposedly talking to Greenwood about not getting too big for his boots, that he hasn't done anything of note yet. The thing is, if you want to have players and people look up to you, you actually have to be a positive influence. I don't want Greenwood looking at the way Pogba let his head drop at 0-3 and think that's what really talented hot stuff players have to do.

At 3-0 he'd given up playing with any intensity. That's generally not his strong point but you can see when he takes it down a notch. Most players were tired and demoralised but tried to hustle. I don't think he did
We have an important game in 2 days, he shouldn't have come on in the first place. Same with the other first teamers sent on to hopelessly chase at 3-0 down.

No. Our fans love someone like Bruno who has the work rate and quality. You mention Beckham? Are you kidding? He worked as hard as anybody. Pogba is talented, but he doesn't focus enough on the pitch and his mind just isn't working at the right speed to be a truly top player. Its been the case for his whole career. He has great moments, but he has so many sloppy moments where he gets caught out for not being sharp enough, or thinking he is better than he is. Off the ball he's always been way too casual as well.

And let's stop calling him a legitimate world class player. He hasn't played like one since he joined the club. Supremely talented, yes, but his mentality/intelligence on the pitch holds him back from that level as he just doesn't think quickly enough to go with his feet. You see Bruno with his qualities, how quickly he decides what he's going to do, how quickly he sees passes and goes to play them to up the pace. Pogba dicking around on the ball needing to always dribble past someone is what holds him back. He doesn't have the vision or more precisely, the spacial awareness of a truly top midfielder.

I've also been perplexed by this attitude for over a decade too. People that legitimately have skill are ostracized while people that try and donkeys are applauded for "trying hard"

Why does he get so much excuses?
It's not a A or B, Pogba or Butt and Neville. Literally nobody is saying we should have 11 Butts (although he was a great servant to the club and a good player) but Pogba always seem to have a good excuse here from what I've been reading in the sense he's incredibly talented and technically gifted. Does that mean we can't call a spade a spade and say he had a bad game when he indeed he did have one. And not mention but with Matić or Fred or X player he couldn't do any better? Or just say world champiol like that's an end of a discussion.

Nobody is praising grafters over technically talented players, nobody is applauding them as opposed to Pogba and the like. When he has a good game he should be praised but when he plays badly or he's really not up for it he should be called out, just like any other player.

Summed up perfectly.

Man gets subbed on when the team has already lost the game and gets crucified

Why are people still calling him 'our only world class player'????

Are you honestly saying he's better than Bruno because from what I have seen he's already been surpassed. Bruno delivers every game almost not one game in 3 or 4.

Pogba obviously still is one of our better players it can't be denied. But I think people are right to question his mentality and attitude. Harsh to do that for yesterday as he wasn't to blame for that defeat but generally I have been very disappointed with how he's played in a red shirt for the ability he has.

Bruno is the new king in town.

Haven't you heard? Bruno is crap. The Caf cycle is complete.

Bruno hasn't even played UCL football let alone dominated at International level, he has a long way to go before getting the tag "world class". He played less than 6 months in a top league.

Its very hard to come on in a game like yesterday's and make a difference. The team were shot by the time he came on.

From what you have seen so far are you really suggesting he's not going to take to those competitions like a duck to water? He's been a revelation. No chance is he flopping if we make the CL. He's just a gem of a player.

Pogba hasn't really ever dominated at CL level either. He's done okay.

I haven't suggested that. Read my post, Bruno has a long way to go before getting that label. He hasn't excelled yet for Portugal when he has played and he hasn't even played in the UCL. No one said he will flop but you don't get the label world class by played 6 months in the PL

Fair enough but from what I have seen so far he's now our best player. Pogba clearly still one of our better players too though. He wasn't to blame yesterday.

Given his technical capabilities, Pogba is erratic in dealing with pressing opposition. That said, he too lacks support as the front 4 are too far away. I think we need a 'runner' in our midfield, a duo of Matic/Pogba is too immobile.

Not sure what your definition of domination is, but Pogba has played and won the World cup and played in the UCL consistently for Juventers and played a key role in their run to the final a few seasons ago.

He didn't dominate either competition though. He did well nothing more. There were 4 or 5 better players for France at the world Cup. Griezmann and Mbappe were the stand out players. It's madness to even say they weren't.

I'm not blaming Pogba for yesterday. I'm just saying Bruno is a better player from what I have seen. He is far more consistent for us. He's only been here less than half a season and probably been the 2nd best midfielder in the league since August behind KDB. That's just incredible.

Pogba sadly doesn't fully take advantage of the immense quality he has. He coasts through too many games and that's never changed. I don't think he's been that great since he came back. Probably had his bets game vs Villa where he managed to get a goal too. Think he's been steady in the other games. Yesterday wasn't on him though obviously. He didn't even start.

Yeah I do agree. I'm not a big fan of Pogba to be honest. I was just making the point that he has played at the highest level and has more experience than anyone else in the Utd squad.

Sancho barely had an impact on CL or International stage yet and some of our fans think hes worth spending 110m on. So its swings and roundabouts.

I want the best for United. I don't care who is the best player. I think theres a few on here who seem to put Pogba before United. Not saying you're one of them but there are some. It's so strange.

Bruno has lifted us so much. Pogba never has had this impact on our team.

And other way around is there are people who put their ego or e-ego ahead of United, which means they have to shit on players they are not fan of no matter what. Not saying you are one of them but there are few.

Honestly mate it’s a joke. In one of my own group chats with mates there’s some shouting for Pogba to be dropped for McTominay against West Ham because McTominay “works hard” & I’m having the same argument in there as I have on here! Our fans obsession with having a side full of grafters with no killer pass between them holds us back.

Ive also noticed a ton of xenophobia in our match day fans over the years (just to clarify I am not talking about redcafe here) the black foreign players (Pogba, Martial & Fred in particular) are abused & criticised even if being a standout performer in the game, while the British players, especially the white ones, are rarely if ever given any stick. In all my years of going the only one I’ve heard get any real stick from the fans was Tom Cleverley in the Moyes season, and even that was nothing like the abuse I’ve heard Pogba, Fred & Martial receive this season alone. Even Rooney in his late stinker years didn’t get anything like Pogba & Martial get in terms of stick. This has been going on at OT for years yet I’ve never seen anyone publicly call it out. Apologies for going on a little rant there.

As for Pogba he can be a very frustrating player, but our fans treatment of him has been outright abysmal & there is undoubtably a double standard for players like him & Martial compared to Rashford & McTominay.

I like Pogba and want him to stay. I just don't think he's as good as some on here do and seem to think because he won the world cup he's better than KDB who hasn't won one. He's nowhere near as good as KDB. It's quite a big gap for me actually. Bruno is probably closer in terms of ability AND consistency. Pogba's ability has never been the issue. He just doesn't show it anywhere near enough. If he did he'd be a Balon D'or contender.

Him being better or not better than KdB shouldn't be any problem. We are not judging him against KdB and other players, we should judge him on what he brings to this team. It's not like they are even playing same position.

One bad game and KdB fans are out in full force defending how can he play as 6, on the other hand the expectations on Pogba to play multiple roles at once is ridiculous.

I think he's been disappointing overall since returning from injury. He's had his good moments but drifts in games too often and will lose the ball in bad positions in most games.

KDB fans? I'm a Utd fan and don't like it that City have a player that good. He's miles better than Pogba. Which club in the world would want Pogba over KDB? Zero. That's how many.

There's people on here who still call Pogba the best in the world and better than KDB. It's nonsense. He's just not close.

But no one did right now so why bring it up?

It really shows how deeply you are prejudiced against Pogba for you to bring up such arguments in his performance thread. What does KDB have to do with how Pogba is performing... I would expect an oppo fan to bring that up randomly to score points but for a utd fan its hard to understand what points you score by denigrating your own player.

Again I dont get this comparison. KdB plays more like attacker than midfielder. I didn't call you KdB fans, I said KdB fans defended his poor performance saying he was playing as a 6, that's Pogba's role too but somehow he should be attacking, defending, controlling the tempo all by himself.

I don't care which club would want Pogba or KdB. Why should anyone even care about it and I don't know why you keep on comparing him to KdB.

Odd thing to do to shit on our players. Compare him to the player who is better than our player just because you don't like the said player, and then shit on him.

Why? So because im a United fan I have to be blinded by club loyalty. Paul Pogba is a good player. He's one of our better players for sure. But he won't be ever world class in my eyes until he starts performing week in week out like KDB does. That's why I bring him up. He's got the ability to do it. He's just never been consistent for us and people on here make excuses for him.

Bruno has come in and shown consistency without knowing the club, players or league. That speak volumes.

Calling him a good player is shitting on him? Thats what he is. A good player. World class players do it week in week out. He doesn't.

Other than Aston Villa and Southampton, in which games since the restart has he lost possession in poor positions?

Admittedly I haven't been keeping a specific ledger on this so perhaps it is a bit of confirmation bias. That said, do we not expect more from a player of his reputation and talent level than what we have seen since his return?
