Correct, they do. A lot of them go there during the off season or when they haven’t been called up to international duty or have warm weather training camps. Also worth noting that clubs that have no control over their players or have terrible facilities allow their players to fly 10 hours to Dubai to ‘recover’. It’s fairly obvious where United fit under previous management.
Flying first class or on a private jet to Dubai for 10 hours is no problem at all tbh. I don't think it damaged Pogba any more than he was. Of course there is a debate to have whether it's necessary to do that. As fans, we have so little information on these things IMHO, speculating about its negative/positive impact is a bit pointless

I think we bought one of the best prospects in world football and in theory we should have known what he was good at and what his limitations were with him having been at the club for such a long time previously. He initially was worth that kind of money and hype based on the player he could or should have become. He was also usually our best player when he was on form for the first few years and sporadically after that.

The thing is we clearly wanted him to show some leadership on the pitch and I think he failed to do that apart from on a few occasions. We wanted him to develop to play an expansive box to box game and he failed at the defensive and concentration side almost totally. His injuries also ruined him. All the stuff about wanting to leave the club and finally the stuff on the documentary (which I haven’t seen to be fair) but it doesn’t sound like he came off well which is unsurprising when you’re saying a massive contract and endless patience with injuries isn’t showing the love. I’m glad he’s gone but I still hope he does well for himself in a much easier league. No doubt he will if he can stay fit.

There are injury prone players but taking yourself away from your club and following your own treatment schedule just isn’t optimal.
It’s actually way better to do that if we’re talking about serious injuries. Especially if we’re talking about United — out medical team is far from brilliant.

It does get you out of sync with the team, which is another question though.

You are out of sync anyway. Injured players are on a different schedule.

You seem to be arguing a point I didn’t make. I didn’t say football had the best medical departments in the world, I said amongst the best. How much further along can one multi million pound facility cure a torn hamstring over another?
Any proof that heading to Dubai helps a player recover from a pulled thigh muscle quicker than players who stay at their clubs? Because Pogba didn’t recover any faster than Initial timetables suggested. Can it help keep him injury free because, again, Pogba isn’t proof of that as well. Has there been any benefits from Paul heading out there at all? Just one?
If they were that good why doesn’t clubs send all player who are out for a while to Dubai?
It’s really easy. You don’t get the best equipment (that costs ridiculous money) and you certainly don’t get the best doctors working full time for a football club on a chance that they’ll get a couple of difficult injuries per season. All the best specialists work in hospitals & clinics all over the world with a steady stream of patients.

He'll get 4 assists in a game early on, press will gush, he'll then become anonymous while missing half the season with injury, no one will watch Italian football so his reputation will survive off that one game.

God forbid France wins the world cup, he'll be talked about as a GOAT midfielder.

Two pages of dunking on a injured player, that doesn’t even play for United. Crazy
An awful lot of bitterness in this thread.

If anything it just shows his body is failing him, rather than him not wanting to play over the last few seasons.
Yeah it's a bit much isn't it.

I'm glad he's left, but can't help feel bad for him how his career has panned out and how this new start for him at Juve has been scuppered so early.

The obsessive hating on ex-players, managers etc. is a really bad look, I know all footy fans do it but seeing your own fans do it doesn't feel great.

Very injury prone, it seems every season he is out for a number of months with a big injury. At 29, unfortunately for him its only going to get worse!

Unless he discovers some secret techniques to staying fit I think he'll retire at the end of his Juve contract.

His off the pitch antics were bad enough but with his recurring injuries too.. safe to say I’m very happy he isn’t here anymore.

Hardly surprising. He spent almost 2 seasons injured, while playing for us. It has been obvious, it will keep getting worse.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
Former Manchester United lads in Serie A right now:

Juventus: Angel Di Maria, Paul Pogba
Roma: Josè Mourinho, Nemanja Matic, Chris Smalling
Inter: Henrikh Mkitharyan, Matteo Darmian, Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez

Guess Matic is the only one who played well for the majority of his United stint; the other ones were just expensive flops or simply not good enough for Premier League..
Really? Matic was good for his first half a season, after that he was generally poor with a month or two or good performances each season. Smalling and Pogba were both far better for us than Matic was in terms of consistent performances (obviously Pogba fell away badly in his last two seasons, but overall he's still comfortably ahead).

He is out of shape and the tough training period in the pre-season was too much for his body. Of course, the point is what he does now: stay in Turin and work on his conditioning… or fly off to Dubai and the US to entertain his media interests. You all know the answer, so do we. :wenger:

He thought preseason was dining and eating steak with Salt-Bae and shooting hoops in Miami with LeBron.

So rumors are injury is severe that he may miss the World cup as well. Huge blow to his career if true.

He's had his fair share of lower muscle injuries between thigh, hamstring, ankle, and now knee. As a tall and relatively gangly person similar to Pogba, he's gonna have to change his physical stature a little bit to accomodate his injury potential if he's going to continue to play at a high level. More lengthen and strengthen, try to introduce that flexibility throughout his lower half. Long road ahead for him.

Imagine in an alternate universe we’d signed him to the bananas deal we were supposedly cooking up under Ole? It’s literally the exact same boom bust cycle as his time here. Hype at him signing and now supposedly more committed than ever - one of the most expensive and overhyped players in the world - gets injured - comes back and looks leggy and quite poor - eventually gets fit starts to look good - injured again for another few months and so on.. I’m glad we decided to look elsewhere. 6 years was long enough.

Hopefully he can recover but if not it's a shame as it could be his last WC.
I am sure he will be able to play in 4 years he will only be 33 which is completely fine for a midfielder especially in international footballer which is a lot slower.

Out of curiosity I wonder if he is out who they are going to play in midfield? Guendouzi?

Would be a shame if he missed the WC. He was excellent at the Euros from what I recall.

If he had been a consummate professional who did his best and took his club seriously, but was regrettably plagued by injuries, people would have sympathy.

With his injury record, I don't know if he'll make the 2026 WC. Hopefully he does.
