When I thought about "who did we miss today?"... Giggs was the first name I thought off, but yeah, Scholes would have been useful as well. There's no way he could have been made things worse then they were anyway!
Really? You're pinning you're hopes on a player who's very much past his prime against a midfield who are years younger and fitter.would definitely have made a huge difference today.
Err both Giggsy and Scholes have been past their prime for years now. Still doing pretty well.Really? You're pinning you're hopes on a player who's very much past his prime against a midfield who are years younger and fitter.
This isn't Wigan at home where we're 3-0 up with 15 mins left
no im not pinning my hopes on him. but however many times hes been overrun against certain teams this season, i can honestly say ive never seen paul scholes come on and not at the very least help us keep the ball better. people forget this is the same scholes who THIS season van persie praised beyond words, and made over 130 passes against tottenham. we failed to string any passes together in the 2nd half, in my opinion, there is not even a small chance scholes would not have helped in that regard.Really? You're pinning you're hopes on a player who's very much past his prime against a midfield who are years younger and fitter.

This.I think it would have been even worse with Scholes playing. His legs have long gone, I fail to see how him desperately chasing Ramires round would have helped our side.
I was actually thinking the same thing. Said we should bring on scholes to help us get the ball under control when we couldn't seem to pass the ball in the midfield at all, before remembering that he was still injured.I thought today was the kind of game where his influence is missed, his ability to control the tempo and calm things when in possession was what we needed to settle down and stem the Chelsea momentum in the 2nd half.
Wrong assessment mate! Scholes didn't really need to be chasing younger legs and still made a positive influence to calm nerves, keep possession and execute perfect passing. With Scholes, it's seldem about running blindly or chasing around opposition like Tevez or Ji sung didI think it would have been even worse with Scholes playing. Think he got injured and was out for a bit. Though he is back playing with the reserves. What happened to Powell?
I highly doubt SAF is thinking like this. I'd be willing to bet on Scholesy featuring quite a bit in the run-in.Sadly, he's finished.
Hopefully he gets a run out at OT before the end of the season.
People like you thinking this way is exactly why we bottled it last year - there is still plenty of potential banana skins left, we could easily drop 15 points if we don't perform. It's a bit too late for anyone to suddenly become important tbh. The league's won already.
I guess Scholes could yet play some part in our winning the FA Cup, but it's a big ask imo.

That too. I can see players thinking to themselves 'oh look, they think we've won it over there at RedCafe, let's lose to Sunderland, West Ham, Stoke, City, Chelsea and Arsenal and have the worst period in our Premier League history with relegation form'.Forget even that Sarni. How Cider saying we've won the league on the caf is going to lead the squad to bottling is what am interested in.
If Mario Kart has taught me anything it's that the race leader doesn't often spin out on banana skins. We're way too far ahead of City for them to hit us with a red shell; and even on the off chance that somebody picks up the blue shell as we prepare for the final bend, we've got a good enough lead so that we can take the hit and still cruise to the finish line laughing. We're throwing the fecking banana skins, not trying to dodge the cnuts.People like you thinking this way is exactly why we bottled it last year - there is still plenty of potential banana skins left, we could easily drop 15 points if we don't perform.
What an interesting metaphor. If Mario Kart has taught me anything it's that the race leader doesn't often spin out on banana skins. I somehow doubt the complaceny of some people on an Internet forum affected the title race. Call me crazy, but the two don't seem all that connected.People like you thinking this way is exactly why we bottled it last year - there is still plenty of potential banana skins left, we could easily drop 15 points if we don't perform.
If you can't see the connection of how our over confidence on this forum effected the team, then yes you're crazy...I somehow doubt the complaceny of some people on an Internet forum affected the title race. Call me crazy, but the two don't seem all that connected.
Sometimes from my mario kart experience, you can be miles In the lead, lose concentration and fall off the edge of the track. Suddenly that lead isn't quite so big, and a nasty red shell hits you in the ass. now all of a sudden a big black bullet is racing up your ass, your neck neck to the finish line!.If Mario Kart has taught me anything it's that the race leader doesn't often spin out on banana skins. We're on Luigi Raceway not Yoshi Valley; we can't fall off the fecking track.Sometimes from my mario kart experience, you can be miles In the lead, lose concentration and fall off the edge of the track.
