PL Gameweek 1 | 16/08/24 - 19/08/24

Was a penalty for me. Cash gets a minor touch of the ball but not enough to really alter its course, and then takes the attacker out.

The way I would look at this stuff is that after the contact with the ball it’s a new phase of play, at that point the attacker is still likely to get to the ball first, but the defender stops him - therefore foul.

This is different to something like a slide tackle where you make significant contact that alters the course of the ball, at which point the attacker would no longer be the favourite or the one judged to be in control of the ball.

Make the most of him while you got him I suppose.. how is he still playing football? What’s supposed to be happening with his case? Tonali was straight up banned when it came to light.

It's a bit like the Toney case, punishment will be announced near the end of the season so yes West Ham will keep on playing him until informed otherwise.

The Baily miss was special, nearly as bad as the Garnacho’s one. Did all the hard work only to fumble it.

Yeah needed to slow up and wait for Kilman to slide before chipping it over him.

I wasn't huge on Onana signing but already he's going to be huge for us at both ends for set pieces as defending them was a weakness last year.

I presume the definition of "good" is comparing either to Man. City, Arsenal or Liverpool?

That first 40 minutes was as good as anything we produced last year.
You were good at getting the ball forward but your forwards did nothing with them, Bailey being the biggest culprit with tons of over hits but Digne also made plenty of bad choices. Watkins were invisible.

I have 50 quids on you feckers so they better clean up their act this half.

Oh right we're in your accy, all is forgiven.

Two absolutely appalling teams playing appalling football

How do Jason Tindall and Austin MacPhee get so much screentime?

I don't even know who the assistant managers are for teams like City, Arsenal, Liverpool, but these two are front and centre, on TV all the fecking time whenever Newcastle or Villa are playing, more than their actual managers.

Where has this plucky villa doing well on a shoestring narrative come from?

They must be right up there in money spent over the last 4 years

What a goal and lovely pass from Matsen.

Love this Villa team.

Villa's squad depth is very good. For me they need a CB but I cant see them being too much behind the 68 points from last season. 3 or 4 points maybe around 5th

Hm seems like normal service resuming across the league. Gonna be a tough season for us, not that it wasn't going to be anyways.
