Picked up Guardians of the Galaxy for £25 at CEX. It's actually pretty decent and good fun. A game like this could've easily been a by the numbers piece of crap but there was some care put into this.
It is surprisingly good and quite funny at times.

Kindve wish I hadn’t gotten it now though, this and loads of other games I picked up in the new year sales are now on this new service

I'm sure it will be great, and more of the same is hardly a bad thing but I find myself a little worried about Ragnarok and I'm not sure why.

Are we getting a Showcase or what Damo?
I'd guess either a PlayStation one in June/July or a dedicated God of War State of Play in June.

Could be a combination of things:
  • With this being confirmed to be the conclusion of the Norse saga, there's a lot to put in so concern it could be tough to execute
  • The mural in God of War 2018 potentially foreseeing Kratos' death
  • The sequel to The Last of Us being divisive. Different studio but they're two of Sony's highest rated
  • Your thoughts about it being potentially 'more of the same' and not a big leap over 2018

Yeah you covered it well! Saying that I loved TLOU2 (although the story was too long).

I think the showcase on it didn't do much for me as it looked almost identical. But as you said it's a great studio and September would be a brilliant release date. Me and my partner will be all over it!

I’m just playing through Days Gone, I was put off by its average reviews when it was out on PS4 but I just downloaded it off PS+ collection for my ps5 and what an underrated and under appreciated game it is.

I’m probably about 25-30 hours in now and its given me some very tense and memorable moments and that’s all I can ask for in a game. Nothing scarier than Horde chasing you down when you least expect it.
I really enjoyed Days Gone. Narrative had some missteps but gameplay was quality. I think LTOU2 had a lot of similarities in the feel of its gameplay which is a good thing.

yeah they’re very similar tbh. I like that sort of game so no surprises I enjoy days gone.

I've just faced the saw mill horde, it’s the biggest one I’ve done so far it took me 3 attempts.

1st time they chased me when I wasn’t ready
2nd time I fell in some water and drowned by accident.
3rd time Did it quite easily.

How hard is it overall? I feel like a bit of a cruise after doing Elden Ring.

I’m playing on normal difficulty and it’s easy enough the larger hordes are Virtually impossible to tackle early on in the game but when you’ve got upgrades and better weapons they aren’t too bad in general.

very good game. Could really have done with a bit of reduction in length though. Becomes a grind eventually

Agree with that. Also they got the last area totally wrong for me.

But I still had a very good time with it.

Sorry to ask a ridiculous question but can someone explain to me the deal with the updated PlayStation plus??

I have PlayStation plus - think it was £49.99 for 12 months. On my system it says that PlayStation Now is changing soon and merging with PlayStation Plus…

Do I have to pay for a PlayStation Now subscription? Feel like I am missing the point here, but don’t know if I have to pay to subscribe or whatever to get access to new games.

When your region changes to the updated PS+, you'll be put in on the lowest tier which has the same features you have access to now at the exact same price. You'll then be given the option to stay on the lowest tier, or upgrade to Extra (adds up to 400 PS4/5 games to download) or Premium (provides benefits from previous tiers plus up to 340 PS3, PS2, PS1 and PSP games as well as time-limited game trials for certain games) and you pay the difference between the price of those tiers and the £49.99

Thanks mate. Reading the thread title I assumed the new PS Plus had come in in the uk already but doesn’t look like I’ve got option to upgrade yet.

My gaming time is massively limited at the minute tbh so little point in upgrading subscription just yet.

The scale of those hordes are actually insane. I don’t think there’s many feelings created like that in video games!

Not that hard. If you go in unequiped or unprepared then it’s near impossible but you are pretty much at late game by the time you tackle the hordes so they are mostly okay. I think for me personally they were the right kind of challenge, takes a couple of attempts but doesn’t grind.

Yeah I've never experienced anything like it before. First time I faced one I was panicking like feck.

Literally just finished the main story of the game this morning and I am really happy with how things turned out. Just going to try 100% it now and clear the side stuff. One of my fave games I've played

I just wish there was a DG2 announced.

The hordes were exhilarating. Shame they left it on a cliffhanger - must have been confident that doing that would lead to a sequel but can't see that ever happening now with Bend moving on to a new project and the directors leaving.

I thought Sony shot down the idea of a Days Gone sequel not too long a go.

IIRC it was the worst performing Sony exclusive of last gen.

Yeah, the sequel got rejected I think, and the director of the original said he's "moved on" (I know they don't need him to make a sequel, but it's very unlikely they will make one)

On the sales front, there were reports that the game had sold at least 9 million copies. But it turned out that number came from the director himself, and the website he used to get that figure no longer exists, and I think a lot of people in the know questioned it. I really can't see it being that high. I know it did decent sales, but not sure if it's more than GoT.

Hopefully they give us a price & release date for PSVR2 and also release date for God Of War: Ragnarock.

Wishful thinking but gameplay of Wolverine will be great.
GoW:R will probably be saved for the Showcase. Wolverine I don't think we'll see anything before next year at earliest, possibly 2024 with Spider-Man 2 releasing in 2023.

Can Sony remove games from the new PS plus service? Do Xbox do that with gamepass? The idea of having a growing library to play is great but if they suddenly remove a game you've been planning to play, it would be a bit ridiculous

That's exactly what happens with GP games. I think first party titles are on there permanently though.

Stick with it pal. I was convinced I'd never crack it, but crack it I did. One of my most enjoyable wins in gaming in the end and more so because I just had to get good. There were no short cuts and no cheeses.
Yeah I plan to, I love hard games. The atmosphere is fantastic as well.

I remember why I lost in interest in Ghost of Tsushima the 1st time. The side stuff is rubbish, Im just focusing on the story stuff from now on.

Yeah side quests are mostly horrible and drag on for way too long. Main story is fine though, and the setting is fantastic. It becomes quite tedious towards the end but it’s not a super long game anyway, can be finished in less than 20 hours. I liked it overall.

Also, found out my favorites games store in Krakow is closing at the end of June as they cannot compete anymore with subscription services cutting into their revenue. Xbox games have basically become worthless and older PlayStation titles are about to become very hard to trade too. Switch does not have enough market share here to make it good business.

That's a shame. A store like that popped up around here a couple of years ago, specialising in retro titles, and it's still doing well.

Yeah some of the main story stuff is actually really good and now that I just ignore the 29483 fox dens I enjoy it a lot. Some of the side stories arent even bad, but they all amount to, talk to X, ride somewhere, kill dudes, profit.

Well that's rubbish. So play in order of preference then
Decent rule of thumb is that the "bigger" the third party game the more likely it will only be on there a few months. So stuff like RDR2 will probably be there 3-6 months, while smaller games are longer. There are some exceptions to this - like the Yakuza games have been on Game Pass for a long time and I expect similar with the Final Fantasy games on PS+ that were on Now for a while.
