I'm a bit surprised that Sony weren't in for the parts of Square Enix that were sold off. For $300 million, the Tomb Raider and Deus Ex IP's amongst others would have filled out the catalogue of games, plus the types of games fit quite well with the Sony's style of gameplay.
It's possible that Square selling off the western studios is an attempt to make their Japanese studios on their own more of an attractive buy for Sony though.
