Portsmouth vs Manchester United

apart from fletch, midfield and strikers are NOT what you might call tall.
is this the shortest attacking formation we've ever played ???

You might be on to something there, I think. Might be wishful thinking, as I don't like to see Evra as a LW, he vastly better with more space which he gets as a fullback. Also O'Shea might negate some of the effect of the physical players in Portsmouth's midfield.

I'm not sure what O'Shea would negate, he'd have to get near somebody for that to happen...

Probably the best side we could have put out in the circumstances, and Evra left wing is hardly ideal but there is little alternative.

I see Kranjcar is missing, so physically only Diop is a threat. He's pants anyway, so disregard that ;) (Damn, now Diop will score. Ah well, we'll score more, Flethcer's first hattrick?)
 
People seem to forget that O'Shea has played in mifield with good effect before. Him and giggsy were very good together the season before Carrick arrived. We really should stick to our regular back four, and let O'Shea do the grafting next to Scholes.

Yeah, the nice thing is that we can change the tactics around if things aren't happening. At least we have a striker on the bench in this match.
 
To be honest I hope and expect Fergie will start with:

Van Der Sar
Brown, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra
Fletcher, O'Shea, Scholes, Anderson
Tévez, Rooney

O'Shea isnt easy on the eye in midfield but he can help break up attacks which will important tonight as we'll be under pressure at times. If we need a bit more creativity then we have the Brazilian trio on the bench to bring on.
 
How many times will Diop fake an injury this time?
 
If we play O'Shea in central midfield ahead of Anderson and don't get the win Fergie will get absolutely slaughtered imo.
