Great 3 points, jumping away from dippers, good performance overall I think, three great goals.

Comfortable. Played well but never looked like getting out of 2nd gear.

Didn't need to.

A bit laboured, but deserved. Herrera is one of our best buys over the recent years.

Daylight between us and the dippers now, looking good.

Easy win and we were in total control throughout the game. LVG just needs to remind Rojo and De Gea that siestas are not allowed when the opposition have a corner.

Fantastic result. We've ensured that we'll be top 4 regardless of the results against City and Chelsea and what Liverpool do in their next couple of games. Very nice cushion to have.

Got to push on and put in a strong finish, though. 2nd is well and truly in sight.

Good win in the end. Complete domination from start to finish, didn't take our chances in the first half and poor final ball until Di Maria came on (who did very well I thought, got another assist) really so that made it a bit nervy, plus the De Gea feck up.

Mata and Herrera together

not amazing, but pretty good. The Internationals took away something. I'm sure we'll look better against City, which will be needed obviously.

comfortable for the most part.....careless with the final ball too often is a good way to describe it

Villa were pretty poor there - we should have had them buried earlier in the game

Herrera superb

Brilliant performance I thought. Brilliant day overall for United. We just need 4 wins in 7 really to guarantee top four.

Can't wait for the City match.

I wouldnt call it comfortable, for long periods it was squeaky bum time.

Got the goals though without playing as well as we have done in the last couple (saving the good stuff for City I hope). Still, the goals themselves were good, especially the third.

I thought the defence didnt look very solid in Smalling's absence though, and I truly wonder what Rafael has to do for LVG to at least give him a chance.

Dominant performance. Could've easily scored 5 or 6 goals.
Bring on Man City!

Good performance and result. Herrera is coming into his own now.

De Gea was surprisingly poor and on another day it could have cost us.

What match were you watching?

It was as comfortable as a win could be.

Wasn't a vintage performance but another 3 valuable points towards a top four finish, Ander Herrera was superb!

Great first half. Second half not so good but we got the job done.

Liverpool lost and Southampton looking like they are going to lose. Almost wipes them from the top 4 race completely.

Still need to think about Spurs who will be 6 points behind us if they win. One loss could put them 3 behind us which will pile the pressure on again but we are looking good for top four and more.

That will do nicely. Should have killed them off sooner but we were by far the better side.

9 ahead of Southampton
9 ahead of Spurs (have a game in hand)
8 ahead of Liverpool

Can now look ahead, not behind.

Oh and Ander

What did Van Gaal say to the side at half time? We dominated the first 45 but sleepwalked through the second half. The passing was so much slower, and the intensity so much less in the second half that it allowed Villa to hope. We were comfortably better and are a far superior side, we should have blasted them out of sight within an hour. Fortunately, when we needed to turn it on again we could. Lord knows why we put the brakes on in the first place. Big result though.

Herrera and Mata together is something else.

Di Maria is better than Young and should replace him in the first team imo.

It's all about going for 2nd place now  Would be a colossal feck up if we let an 8 point gap slip

Plus goal differential so add another point for them to make up.

Shit goal to give away. Poor from De Gea. Can't remember saying that in the last several months.

Carrick was poor too. Gave the ball away under no pressure on a number of occasions. We missed Smalling's composure and dominance, but I think Rojo and Jones did okay.

Decent performance. Dominant but not too OTT. Impressed with how quickly we won the ball back after losing it.

Rooney was much better in the 2nd half. Great, great goal, and he was superb for the 3rd goal. 3 very pleasing goals in general.

Ander Herrera is just the perfect player. Classy and tough. Love him.

A little nervy at the end but but a good performance nonetheless.

Some end product from valencia and we'd be winning the league.

Good controlled game. Excellent first half, stepped off the gas a bit too much in the second half for me.

Rooney with a superb goal and Herrera is some striker of a ball. His technique is bordering on Scholes like.

Real shame for De Gea but it happens to the best of them. Young was excellent with Blind. Mata had a decent game.

Only saw the last 15/20 minutes so can't really comment. Two lovely finishes for our goals though and a shocker from De Gea, I guess this is the game for that to happen in though. A gif of the first goal would be nice. Great to see Ander get 2, really staking his place lately.
