Job done. Our qualification is secured now.

Fully dominant on the game and Benfica didn't look threatening to us at all. Our forwards weren't on their day so otherwise we would have created more than this.

Just a poor performance all round really. But didn’t have to step it up at all. Very easy for the most part and perfect for Lindelof settling in

Benfica look to be a very poor side these days

Three points. Job almost done. The type of performance that looked as if Jose had worked out the bare minimum the side needed to give with an algorithm.

Good solid away performance. Nothing special but was a professional performance and fortunately got the win thanks to bit of a lucky goal. Never really felt we were under threat but Benfica defended really well. Matic my MOTM, who was very good in the centre of the park.

Seriously considering watch paint dry instead next game. Depressing performance again. But we won at least this time, even if we didn't deserve to.

Thank God that kid made a howler. We could have gone on for another 90 mins and we wouldn't have scored. Poor performance, fantastic result. The team needs to have a hard look at themselves. Defence did well, but the midfield and attack was terrible for the most part.

Anyway, another away win in Europe. That's always great! Wasn't our away record terrible during the LVG era?

70% of our problem is in absence of Fellaini and Pogba, without them our midfield has zero attacking outlet and thus the performance drops even more. The rest of 30% is in Mikhi but his problem will be relieved a bit with Pogba and Fellaini back.

Nice touch from Lukaku consoling the young keeper

Was probably his best touch in the game...

Disjointed and leggy in thought. Poor Mikhi lad needs a break. That goalkeeper proves GKs are madmen.
Martial looks good for Saturday. Rashford needs to work on his close dribbling control, hope he recovers.
Lindelof had a decent night. Well done Smalling though some vital interceptions and headers.
Squad depth will really show over the next 5 matches.

How crucial is Matic?

It's not Jose, the lads look leggy. This won't be pretty I suspect until Pogba and Fellaini and Zlatan come back. tough Winter to come.

9 points in the bag, lets qualify and focus on the league.

Very poor first 30. Controlled from that point on but very little creativity. Mkhi has been terrible and needs dropping. Job done that’s all.

Poor sloppy display, but job done. Subsitutions were weird. Desperately need Pogba and Fellaini back.

Decent result against a poor team who might have been expected to pose the biggest threat in the group.

Dont get the reaction. We won and we are one step closer to advancing. Another tough away game dealt with ease. Can only bode well for the latter stages.

Meh performance. Comfortable, benfica is a bit shit to be honest. We didn't really create much and if their goalkeeper didn't have that clanger, wouldn't have been surprised if it ended 0-0. De Gea racking up the clean sheets this season though.

First half was shite from pretty much everyone, second half everyone improved but we still didn't really look threatening, just held the ball. Felt like a LvG performance pretty much.
Lukaku and Miki were pretty woeful for the most part. Rashford awful first half, much improved second half and our only threat. Mata alright, kept the ball as usual but nothing stand out. Midfield was fine, though herrera still far away from last seasons level. Valencia and Blind possibly our best performers.

Our two worst games of the season so far (played with a badly depleted midfield):

Against Liverpool away we got a draw: 0-0

Against Benfica away, we got a win: 0-1

Pissed off with the performances but I can live with those results.

A win is a win so il take it.

They were up for the game kept tight at the back and closed down any on the ball near there box almost defensive gegen we were bad at times but even bad i never thought we wouldn't win.

Blind is an awful LB. Crying out for somebody natural there like Shaw.

Mkhi is devoid of confidence it seems and it shows. Lukaku played with blinkers on.

Smalling was physically very good. Lindelof fine. Matic is streets ahead of anyone else. Rashford clever for the goal.

McTominay comes on and within seconds gets an opposition player sent off. Mourinho's dreams have come true.

We are now a Mourinho team.
Not particularly fun to watch (away from home), but we know how to not concede goals and shut up shop, after scoring 1 goal.
At home though, I am expecting 4 goals.

2nd in the league. Top of the CL group. This is what I expected from Jose and he is delivering.

We won which is more than I expected, but we were dire again. We're not going to win anything this season If we keep playing the way we are.

Job done, if van Gaal would be the manager, the clueless morons would be throwing the knives..

Feel bad for the kid Svilar, hopefully OUR team went to him after FT, cause his own definitely didn't..

Awful game. Benfica never really threatened, and we won because of an error from a rookie GK, but I don't care. This was the trickiest tie of the group stage. Such a shame about Rashford's injury though. Also hard not to feel sorry for their keeper, he's only a kid and was absolutely devastated at the end. Hope he recovers from this.

Mickey was the worst player on the pitch again. It's about time he was ditched in for Mata or Lingard until he finds his feet again.

Not much difference between this team and van Gaal's in terms of the actual performances. Now this team is at least winning at the moment, but that won't last if we keep playing like this.

Bread and butter Mourinho game. We are currently playing without our first choice central mid and his replacement, our best centre back pairing yet winning away at portugal champions yet it aint enough for people. I d be happy if we won all our games one nil and played this way. Very important to win this as we have them sandwiched between spurs and chelsea. Mourinho must have instructed rashford on the keeper, which is great research and a great job done. Onto the weekend where hopefully some of the injured start to return.
