Except Sane goes through a lot of bad spells especially when teams sit back and he has no space which is why he is the one that is chopped often.

Rashford and Martial would be better under Pep because Pep has an actual system. We have a defensive system and then it's up to the attackers to do things individually. Martail has more talent than both Sane and Sterling. He would be a monster under Pep. Same thing with Miki.
All ifs and buts that though isn't it. We can only look at the reality of what is in front of us, and that is no matter the tactics (which don't help at times I agree), Jose isn't playing for Martial and Rashford on the pitch and you cannot blame him for the inconsistent play of those two.

Talent doesn't matter a jot when you can't back it up on a regular basis, which unfortunately these two just don't.

Shit performance. Happens in cup competitions some times. Remember when Fergie lost to Leeds United at Old Trafford even though we used both Rooney and Ronaldo in the game? Can't read too much into them.

Saying that - Ibra scored but was woeful and I think that's more of an indication of how he is physically. Don't think he'll ever get back to a good enough level for United, though this season was all about his recovery for him anyway. Shaw offered more signs of encouragement, Pogba got a run out, Lindelof solid enough. So not the end of the world. We won the carabao cup last year, didn't really give 2 fecks about it this season.

Yeah I'm glad Matic got the rest but would have preferred if Lukaku didn't come at all. Pogba could have picked up a red today in this worthless competition and that would be hugely pissing off.
But he didn't. :)

The worthless cup pays a pittance. The revenue (tv and ticket) from playing in 1 useless cup match is actually much less than half a weeks wages of the match day squad. Meaning we make a huge loss to play.
Wow! Your really scraping the bottom of the barrel with that excuse. Would you have said that if we had beaten them 2-3?

Zlatan and rashford were very poor.

Lukaku and micky did well when they came on.

We were crap. Not too fussed that we're out

Rashfords impetuous flick in midfield led to their goal the stupid boy!! He’s gotta learn cause there was nothing professional about his performance, though NO way his fault, it seems all our players think they just gotta turn up to win, god we looked so lazy it was insulting to us fans really.

Really? Someone who just turned 22 and 20 and you're criticizing their consistency, despite them being productive as feck all season? They've been fine and very, very far from being any sort of issue.

Mou was spot on post match with asserting that too many of our players saw it "as another day in the office" and a day when they didn't really want to come in to the office. That ain't good enough.

How we are 2nd is beyond me.

Rashford and Martial has a poor performance but seriously, it’s just one game.

Ibrahimovic has just come back from a long term injury, he is not finished just rusty.

Darmian is shit and we all know it.

Romero is a good keeper, just had a bad game, poor guy.

Mike Dean couldn’t pull his shorts up any higher. I will provide the Lego if you steal his shoes.

At the end of the day, the mrs has just given me the nod for an early night so not all is lost
I hope she just wants to cuddle.

Top 5 teams is being generous. He probably wouldn't make first 11 of any premier league club apart from maybe Newcastle. Swensea have Ki and Leroy Fer in midfield!
Make you right, if he was wearing a Swansea shirt, would we or others be queuing up to sign him?

Because others are as bad or worse and we started well. It is not surprising. The PL top fights in recent times have been more of a competition on who plays more crap than others.
City this season is an anomaly.

Really poor performance tonight. People will blame this on Mourinho and lack of coaching, and I am not saying that couldn't be the case, but the players need to take responsibility. All of them were misplacing/underhitting passes, taking extra touches, not controlling the ball etc. There was a clear lack of professionalism and concentration on display tonight.
One of the issue is lack of experience and composure in our attacking players. Rashford and Martial are too inconsistent for us to put constant pressure on a team. Additionally, we really miss a prime Carrick in the midfield, a player who can stabilise the defence, and string the attack.
We need to bring in the reinforcements in the summer to provide fluidity and composure to our play. A playmaker and a right midfielder/winger are the priorities.

It's Curabao Cup. Who gives a feck. 3 games less in crowded schedule.
It would be nice if the players gave a feck.

And just because it’s not the premier league doesn’t mean we shouldn’t take note that we just played badly

Why do we never even try to control the midfield in games anymore?

Don't really care that we lost today, we didn't turn up and this cup is literally just a moneymaking event (it kind of lessens the importance of the FA cup as well). If we are going to close the gap on City in the PL the fixture list is our biggest ally.

The platform isn't there for them to perfrom. We saw what happened when Pellegrini gave Sterling no instructions and he had to improvise. Two of those players are coached whilst the others are told to run and imrpovise over 40 m. Give Mou Sterling and Sane and we would have the same problem.

Even the Madrid players complained about his lack of attacking structure.

It won't hurt us but it's more a concern with the way we play.
On another day, our attack would have scored 2-3. We weren't bad attacking wise, just sloppy and unlucky and in Rashford's case, idiotic.

Players won't be demoralized by a loss to a Championship side because occasional cup upsets are the norm.

Lack of composure in decision making at critical times, poor control, overhit and underhit passes and crosses. We look streets off the top teams in Europe.

Im so disappointed in the players, thats what really hurts.
They were so fecking poor, our attack was simply awful.Rashford and Martial making dumb decisions and everybody was so fecking static all the time.
No heart from the players,Pogba did okey atleast he tried things and seemed to care out there.
Romero was a fecking mess throughout the game.

Embarrassing performance.

Congrats to Bristol City, they wanted it more and fully deserved it.

I know some ppl can't be arsed about the Cup but professionals playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world, on the salaries they receive weekly (more than most of you make in a year), lost to Bristol City. THAT is unacceptable.

Absolute bollocks. This reasoning is so stupid really and it's all over this place. So tell me, how much of a chance did Bristol have of beating us?
It's only because the majority of this forum have a hard on for City.

Bristol played well and wanted it more. No excuses.

Why can't we pass the football like a proper football team? It's incomprehensible.
You’ve hit the nail on the fecking head! Most teams look like Messi’s Barcelona when they play us and we look like a Sam Allardyce team

Where the grass is greener.
People saying "who gives a feck", if you don't want us to win trophies, whats the point? This was a winnable competition totally thrown down the toilet.

Another game, another incoherent, disjointed attacking display. Not that the defense was much better, but our fecking attack! Jesus.

There is absolutely no rhythm to it. No coordination. No pattern.

Couldn't give a feck about the cup, about our performance again is just baffling.

A fairly strong starting 11 of Man Utd couldn't beat Bristol City. Just shows the sad state of our attacking play. Rashford was poor, Martial was inconsistent. Zlatan not there yet. Our midfield was bypassed by Bristol City, no control whatsoever. Romero was uncharacteristically shaky.

Mikhi at least showed some drive, happy for him. But I guess not enough to make the bench for the next league game. Hopefully we can rebound and the players have a good reaction against Leicester.

Reasoning based off the last time we played both teams in the league they easily beat us.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho: "They were a bit lucky but they fought a lot to be lucky. Everyone was waiting for our goal so they were lucky. We hit the post twice.

"But they played brilliantly, they fought like it was the game of their lives which probably it was. A beautiful day for football. A team from the lower division won. A big day for them.

"In the first half we lacked the intensity that they had. Physically and mentally. It was one more day in the office for my players, a day that some of them didn't even want to come to he office."

He's right. Also wonder if this isn't a little of the MK Dons moment, perhaps for Darmian, Mkitaryan, Blind?

Well he needs to change that like now. He could probably get away with it before but it doesn't work nowadays. It doesn't matter how many good players we buy, they'll still play like our current attackers because they're not being coached properly.
