Manchester United 1:1 Celta Vigo

Post-match discussion

OMG that was close. Delta should've scored on that last punt but one decided to cross instead on shoot & the other couldn't get his feet right. Guidetti could have scored about 3 times but was as clinical as our forwards not named Zlatan.

Seems like the remaining EPL games is an open audition for CB

Well it was a bad start and it ended just as badly, and the less said about the middle, the better. But apart from that - excellent performance. :nervous:

On the positive side, the ref missed Valencia doing much worse than Bailly did!

Phew! Bailly and Valencia out would be a major problem.

Very poor team, and I'm doubtful we will win it. If Ajax can score twice that will be it. Only bright spot was Glazer was there and might bump the transfer money up considerably, now hes seen how bad we are

The last time i was this nervous was when I was watching City vs QPR.

Most disappointing thing is that we couldn't shut it down in the second half, like you expect a mourinho side to be able to do.

But we are in a European cup final so feck the criticism for the moment.

Again - we had number of chances to put this to bed but no - instead we let them back to the tie and give ourselves a nearly an heart attack.

To be totally fair - I don't care. We're in the final. And I'm not think about facing Ajax yet.

We need a miracle to beat Ajax. We're absolutely wank!

Nah, this was tougher IMO. Celta plays tough teams in the Liga week in week out (Atletico, Barsa and Real). We're the toughest game Ajax has this year.

Well yeah but.... those last ten minutes or so.

On another note, I detest these horrible dirty fecks.

Those last ten minutes were difficult because we did not take the game to them in the preceding 80.

I had called it before the match. If we only score one, it will be tense.

I know we are into the final but i cannot help but be frustrated. If that was Bayern Munich or Real Madrid or Barcelona or Man City, they would have had four in by 60 minutes. We scored and just sat back and made it difficult at the end because all they will do is throw men forward.

The final will be more of the same. We will score one or two and sit back. We will probably win but we will make it difficult for ourselves.

You do know Ajax were soundly beaten 3-1 tonight?

The hyperbole is overflowing in here tonight!

Yes it was an ugly hold on job at the very end, but we did basically coast for about an hour first!

Mourinho almost cost us the game. Fecking had enough of this clown. Sitting back and allowing Celta fecking Vigo dominate the game at Old Trafford, unreal.

Mourinho almost cost you the game or 90% of our players have no guts. Spineless bitches almost threw the game away.

We need a massive clear-out. Majority of the players in Man Utd don't have a clue of what a big game is. They are not even mentally strong enough to play in front of Old Trafford faithfuls.

Bottle-jobs - most of them.

In the final, but 1 off Bailly and Valencia won't be, depending on the outcome of the red card

On the positive side, the ref missed Valencia doing much worse than Bailly did!

Phew! Bailly and Valencia out would be a major problem.
Agreed he may still get a red retrospectively if the ref missed it, rather than seeing it and taking no action

Please please please Jose. I beg of thee on everything that is good and righteous. I will give you my firstborn if you stop with the sitting back and inviting teams to score when we are one goal up and dominating teams. I can't take anymore of it.

Bailly out is a massive problem.
Jones and Smalling have a 3 game audition now.

Odds on them both being injured for it?

Wrap them up in bubble paper.

Its got to be Jones/Smalling. Blind is fecking rubbish at the back. Not to mention the possibility of him being shit against his childhood club.

There is no way blind should see the field in the final.

I have faith in Smalling and Jones to recapture their form in time for the big one.

Mourinho being a prick again with cowardly tactics, inviting the pressure on....the guy never learns from his mistakes

he seems to have no confidence in our ability to win the game by taking it to the opposition and his tactic off being conservative has failed time and time again

wise up Jose... getting sick of his shite....

Bailly.... you silly boy

but yea! another final

Congrats from a Juve fan, would be great to meet you guys in the European Supercup! :D
That Celta chance with 10 seconds to go was surely a heart attack moment!

Relieved. Still, we are shocking.

It's getting hard not think Jose is a bit dim.

We have a side which is really, really, really bad at sitting on a 1 or 2 goal lead. Yet whenever we go 1-0 up in a match his tactics, substitutions and instructions seem set to see out the match in a conservative, defensive manner.

Once, twice or three times you give him the benefit of the doubt. But this is maybe 25 or 30 times this season. He knows the history of this club is to attack and he knows teams expect and fear being exposed at Old Trafford. How can he not do the maths and realise an attacking mentality is going to suit this club more than a defensive one?

What the feck was he thinking parking the bus?

A steaming turd of a performance but at least we got through, we are so unconvincing and so terrible at attacking that it's hard to feel much other than a sense of relief and now hoping we can muster a performance against Ajax.

We are shit, but bloody happy to be in the final!
Hope we get some luck there because feck sakes this team drives me crazy.

Anyway, on to the final. A few weeks left before 90 more minutes of hell:D

Too close, too fecking close. Costly win too now we're without our best defender. But feck all that, we're in the final! And knowing our past history with finals, it's going to be worst than today.

In fairness by the looks of things Ajax also stumbled horribly into the final

It might well be the worst final in the history of football

Ajax were terrible, I was watching the game and praying they held on because I don't think we would have stood a chance against Lyon. Don't know how they messed up the first leg but the better team really lost

Too many passengers. Full backs dont add anything much going forward. On the wings mkhi gets pushed around too easily. Lingard has some good moments but no real end product. Overall our wide play needs to improve tremendously.

We play anything like that in the final and we'll be beaten.

We need a complete clear out in the summer. Starters tonight like Lingard, Blind, Darmian and Fellaini should not be anywhere near the first team next season.

Not really sure what to say. The players looked a bit embarrassed at the end more than anything, no real celebrations. Inviting the pressure on for the last 30 minutes, asking for trouble against a pretty mediocre team. Seen it far too often this season.
In the final, but only by a ball hair. That miss from Guidetti looked even worse in the replays. Bailly will be a big miss for the final. I have defended him enough on here, but Blind had a very poor game tonight, but to single him out would be unfair as it was generally a poor display.
Bottom line, United are there. Just.
