Surely the end of 3-5-2. So much better after switching to a back four....

We look better with 4 at the back then 5.

In other shocking news, man requires oxygen to breath.

Didn't mind us in the second half. We made it difficult at times, but we stretched QPR around the pitch and created some very notable openings.

Wilson, Fellaini, Blind, and de Gea were very good.

Everyone else was shit.

Four at the back, camped in our own half for periods - lethal on the counter. Just like the United of old.

Really amazing how much better we were when we ditched 3-5-2 and played Di Maria deeper!

LVG should now wake up and accept his 3-5-2 experiment is dead.

As bad a first half I can remember, credit to LGV for changing things which made us more of a threat. Delighted for James Wilson, excellent cameo.

In some ways, best case scenario. We get the points so our top 4 quest isn't damaged. And yet no one's under any illusion that we weren't shit and don't need to improve. At least I hope.

Nice to get the win. Important.

That's about it. Ugly game, shockingly poor technical level.

Still far from convinced with LVG. 352 must die.

I'm not sure how important this is but our 2 goals happened only after we switched to 4-4(diamond)-2.
Is this coincidence?

3-5-2 fecks off and 3 points atleast.

Southampton and Arsenal could drop points, so could be a good week.

Hopefully that's the end of 3-5-2.

Poeple will read too much into the 4/5 at the back thing. We looked more dangerous with 4 at the back because at 0-1 QPR had to attack and take more chances.

Either formation, we need more cohesion and comfort on the ball.

3 points!

Whenever we've played 442 this season we've looked great. Granted at the back we are a bit exposed in it we look so much more comfortable on the ball.

PLEASE LOUIE DON'T PERSIST WITH THAT 352 RUBBISH!

352 should be used if we want to kill the game off. Went under too much pressure at the end.

4 at the back was as clear as day, we were creating so many chances as soon as we switched. Hopefully this is the eye opener for LVG.

I really can't credit him for failing to realise a mistake that has been ongoing for 6 months. Let's see how he sets up next match before giving him any credit.

It might have been four at the back change or Mata going off and Fellaini coming on which allowed us to actually build up from the back.

Carrick played deep at the base of the diamond, it looked similar to 3-5-2 anyway, Wilson's pace up top complimented Falcao well.

Angel di Maria dropping back also helped however Rooney gave them a lot of chances, I'd prefer Blind and Carrick in the centre and Rooney further up.

Who votes for Rojo? Seriously? Abysmal.

As always though.
Other than the mix-up with Carrick I don't see what he did wrong today? Austin and Zamora are a handful and he was never renowned for being overly strong in the air. Did well on his return to the starting line-up and looked comfortable in a centre back pairing.

I missed the first hour or so, but thought we looked pretty good for the final 30mins. Sounds like I missed the worst hour though.

To his credit. ...he made the appropriate change and we improved. Time for him to make the formation change permanent.

Nothing is so common as the wish to be remarkable.
Even the fans start chanting 4-4-2 after watching that dire first half. 7 months in and such terrible passing.
Just go back to back 4 and get a midfielder (or a defender) in this window at any cost if he wants a more solidity and protection for the back.
Get Rooney back upfront or in the hole.
I don't even know what to say about Jones taking corner or CBs in wall.
Wilson did well coming on. Happy for his first goal of the season.

We got the first goal when we switched from the 352.

Editing my own posts.
Apart from some brain fart passing, I thought we looked pretty good 2nd half. Can't think why though, it's truly baffling.

We looked more vunable at the back with 4, but looked better up top. Overall it was a frustrating game to watch but I'm happy for Wilson and I'm happy the way Falcao played and should have scored the header but it wasn't his day.

disagree

our passing was more productive, our movement much better - we got in behind their defence with Falcao and Wilson at least twice

4 at the back and playing in the diamond is just a more dynamic formation and players like Di Maria and Falcao obviously improved
