Good second half. Rashford and Fellani coming on made the difference. Matic and Smalling were excellent.

We can't compete at that level with Fellaini, Smalling and Lingard on our books. We will do well in the PL that's about it.

We need an attacker with magic in his boots. Not Martial - someone with passing, vision, composure and superb decision making. What Isco did tonight, is what we are screaming out for.

Feels like our attack disjoints at the first sign of pressure.

Often when we attack, a midfielder walks with the ball, our wings are behind a fullback, and our striker is between two cb's, the other two midfielders are walking next to, or behind the one with the ball.
When other top teams attack, they have fast players running in all directions, to create space for each other, and the one carrying the ball, is actually running too.

I find this very frustrating to watch, do they not want to get forward and score?

How can professional footballers not know how to take a fecking throw in?
It is not hard at all....

Ref blew the whistle before time in both halves, would probably not change the result, but it is annoying! "Minimum x minutes of injury time" - it's supposed to be.

Anyone watching RTE? Did I just hear it suggested that we should replace Herrera with Oxlade-Chamberlain?...

Rode our luck a bit until they scored their second. It could easily have been their 4th by that point. But afterwards we started to fight back. Got a bit fortunate with our goal, but it was the kick up the arse we needed. And Lukaku should really have scored with his earlier chance.

Rashford should really be burying those chances. He never looked like scoring it.

Better team won. Real are a much better side but we were ok. There are specific things we need to improve and boy we really need to be more incisive in the final third against top sides. Well done to fellaini, smalling and Matic. Mkhitarian pisses me off by being invisible for large parts of the game which is a shame. Real season starts in a few days.

Are you watching closely?
Great management to keep the one player who created a goal during the pre-season game on the bench.

Other than that, and a shite first half, we looked pretty good in that second half. Fellaini changed the game for us.

Awful first half after the first ten minutes. Got dominated.

Did way better when Fellaini and Rashford were introduced.

Best team won obviously, but our finishing is still so bad. We could of nicked it.

Matic was great.

Micky T is a liability on the wing. When he came central he was better and Marcelo destroyed him on the wing.

Could easily have finished 2-2 if we had take our chances. Not being clinical enough.

Good fight shown in the second half. There was an awful period in the first half when Real scored, but other than that ok.

Positives are:
- Matic
- Rashford
- Fellaini
- We won't play a better side again this season
- Hopefully that's the end of Lingard as a starter

MOTM: Matic
Worst: Lindelof

Not sure if Lingard got off the bus.

Shows that utd can match any team if they show some ambition going forward. First half was poor due to utds cautious approach which lost them the game. Matic was awesome.

Not bad in the end.

Still had chances.

No team in the Prem is near Real.

Pogba was absolutely shocking, worst player on the pitch by a distance. Lindelof poor again. Mkhitaryan waste of time. Lukaku shambolic. Matic our best performer. Smalling decent. Darmian poor defensively. Fellaini did quite well when he came on.

Pretty obvious we need Rashford on the pitch and playing well, otherwise we're terrible. Shame he lacked the quality today, his pace was a real threat.

No shame in losing to the best team in the world. At times they did look a level above us but overall we did well and there are positives. At 2 0 they could have slautered us but we fought back and created a few chances ourselves, we could have leveled it too.

Best team won on the night. Sundays game is more important.

Encouraging. Yes, we lost, but there were some positives in that game.

Real Madrid are the best team in the world and we looked dead and buried, but Fellaini and Rashford nearly brought it back. We deserved a draw in the end IMO but wasn't to be.

We'll be as good as them if we keep improving.

The most worrying thing is now that Pogba has been freed up, he is still making the worst decisions at the most crucial times; He needs to buck up his ideas fast, as does Lukaku who had similar lapses in concentration. Chances have to be put away too especially that first counter.

How crucial will Matic be to the team? Brilliant addition.
Rashford did good; looks sharp.

Martial has to be given more opportunities; but will Jose countenance ever dropping Lukaku?
Appreciate the fight by the team. Fellaini is a cult hero.

Reminded me a little bit of when we lost 4-0 to Barca with Romario; Gulf in class and the lads will have to improve collectively to even reach this level.

Had the chances. We weren't ever really going to match the best team in Europe, but we made the game competitive and had really good chances to tie or win the game. An offside goal is the difference in the scoresheet.

Nice to see where we stand against the best.

ROLL ON SUNDAY!!!!!! Glad this match is passed us and a good run out. A lot of work to do to reach the heights we want to reach again, but we all knew this going into this match.

It was the best team in the world that beat us. I compare us now to the team under Moyes and LVG and I can see the improvement that the team has made and I am super optomistic going forward. Still a work in progress, but farther along than we have been in a long time.

Can't feel too disappointed. Beat by the better team. Probably the best on the planet. Showed good grit to dig in and stay in the game. Main thing I've come away from that game thinking about is how many one on ones Rashford still misses. I'm one of his biggest fans but until he improves that part of his game, he won't reach the heights everyone wants him to. Bring on the real stuff at the weekend

rashford is not a set-piece taker and will never be one in his lifetime.

misses clear cut chances every now and then (more damaging in a cup final than anything else).

Why don't we need to purchase another striker this summer?

Lukaku and Rashford were garbage.

They were the better team by some margin. And derserved the win

It does annoy me how we stick with this 352 when it doesn't work. All it does is pull out cbs all over the place and give space to the opposition. Which our midfielders try and plug. So that 352 looks more like a 541...

Granted it may work against teams in the league but not against top teams like real. Their wingers had a field day exploiting the back 3

Pretty bad first half. Good second half. Wish Bailly could've played, but overall Real deserved the win. They showed their class on the ball and why they're the best team in the world. Missed some big chances, happy Lukaku got a goal although he missed a big chance and had that brainless offside decision. Matic and Fellaini were very good, Pogba poor. Lindelof making some more mistakes which is inevitable being a new member of the defense. Overall not worried by this, we showed some good stuff in the 2nd half. Don't thikn 3 at the back is right for us. Not upset at all tbh, the real thing starts on Saturday
