Post-match discussion

Don't worry people. We've only got a couple of years before Van Gaal retires. I'm looking forward to it really. As long as Wayne Rooney is undroppable, that's my stance on Van Gaal.

Rooney and Romero doing their best to make sure we didn't have a chance to win it, everyone else was decent - good. Swansea worked very hard and it paid off, you could tell they were knackered at the end.

needed to give a good game against a competent opposition but miserably failed to do so.

deserved win for swansea, little much else to day. disappointing.

Quite bad. All our weaknesses came out. Lack of a clinical inform striker, wobbly defending, less than assured goalkeeping. Disappointing. I hope we get an attacker before the window closes.

Played badly and deserved to get beaten. £230m spent and the only attacking change available from the bench is the Fellaini-Young hoofball/crosses combination. Dreadful stuff.

Those 2 goals were our own mistakes. Softly gave away the ball high up the pitch, countered twice with Shaw up in an attacking position we were out of shape.

Romero should have protected his front post better for the second.
Depay was non existent
Rooney needs to hit the feckin ball first time.

God now the commentators are wondering if Rooney is carrying an injury. The excuses are just ridiculous.

Given that everybody demanded Herrera to be in the lineup, we weren't that much more dangerous with him upfront, if at all.
Yet he still created 2-3 of our few chances with his layoff for Mata in the first minutes, his through ball to Rooney and his through ball to Mata.

The saddest part of the past 3 year is that the fact once we fall behind we seem to accept defeat

Disappointing result. Was always going to be a difficult game and letting them score 2 soft goals was killer. Both on the counter. Our midfield didn't protect the backline enough and as great as Shaw played, he was caught out on both goals. The midfield should be partly to blame for not covering.

Our attack hasn't improved at all and obviously the main talking point will be Rooney. He had chances to score and I count at least 2-3 legitimate ones. Seems like he has lead in his foot and cant pull the trigger quick enough. Doesn't look fit at all. Typical really and it looks like he needs another 2-3 matches before rounding into form again.

Top four is legitimately what we are aiming for again this year. Maybe we will get a good cup run if we can sort out our attack. Title contenders we are definitely not though.

At the end of the day, you have to send a team out that will beat these teams 9/10. We've played the same game against Newcastle at home. We should not be rewarding young with 3 years. We should be looking to improve the quality of the team because they're not good enough. Simple as that. Not good enough. We should not be in a situation where De Geas 'future' is up in the air. Where Blind is playing center back. Where we give young a new 3 year contract. We have spent what we needed to but that's only because we let other teams overtake us. Just a poor performance devoid of any heart. We didn't create that many chances, didn't have great width. Poor.

Absolutely terrible. Any team with title ambitions have to score their way to the lead. You can't expect to win titles at the back of a solid back line which by the way failed spectacularly.

Too much is being thought about playing in a certain way or playing with a philosophy and not enough thought is being put on how to actually win matches. Our play is so slow and so predictable that we would find it difficult to score against any PL opposition at the moment.

The only positive is that this result might jolt the people in charge of the deficiencies in our play and in the striking and goalkeeping positions. If nothing changes then we have another year chasing fourth place.

It's a process, we analyzed it and we found out we shall continue the process until full brain explosion.

We never looked like scoring after Swansea went ahead. As usual. There is no urgency at all. We'll win nothing this season.

LvG philosophy is all I need is Rooney.

I think LVG should buy a love shack somewhere in the Carribean, so he and Rooney can canoodle there.
How is Rooney undroppable - this makes no sense.
He is past his best and he needs to be moved on.

Shocking that LVG got outplayed tactically by Gary Monk for the third fecking time now. Shocking effort from most of the players, shocking effort from Rooney for the goal, I mean what the feck was he thinking, how thick can you be.

Our players don't seem to be fit enough.

Swansea is our kryptonite. Romero finally got found out. Rooney should have scored. Hate us hoofing it and crossing to Fellaini as our Plan B. Disappointing.

I thought Herrera was good today. Rooney was poor and doesn't have the striker instinct. Those same chances given to RvP would have at least resulted in shots and most likely one of them being a goal. I really don't understand why we don't have a world class striker and goalkeeper starting for us.

Rooney's best moment was when he didn't touch the ball so Mata could score.

Great start. Mediocre after that and terrible defending for both their goals. Well played Swansea.

Shocking second half from us after we scored, looked like they all soiled themselves after they scored. We lack serious tenacity and aggression in our defense and attack.
Should've taken Schweinsteiger and Memphis off, they constantly lost the ball, so frustrating.

Was always gonna be a tough game. Surprised at Rooney's lack of decisiveness in the final moments, is he hesitant to try trickier shots rather than set-up the perfect chance?

De Gea, focused or not, stood a chance at saving either of or both the chances they scored from, and the Fellaini dice roll didn't work out.

I reckon we look really accomplished and terrific in most stages of play at times, and the opposition team is supposed to have a few good chances. However, I hope we manage to find a way to carve out clearer chances, and to take the ones we get better.

Really disappointed with how we performed after going down, though. Seemed to get the better of us.
