Not really praising us not winning, but our tactics were perfect, the fininsing was poor, we created enough chance with our tactics but Ronaldo and Bruno were at fault for not burying the game in the fist half. If we took our chances we win the game. I just enjoyed the football we played , I haven't enjoyed our football in a long time. Yesterday we could clearly see Ralf's vision.
Maybe am seeing too much into it because the previous expectations. I don't expect much from this season, just hoping for top 4 and just better quality football, to get the fear factor back of playing against us
When we call a performance that brought us a draw against Watford "perfect" then that term has finally lost all his meaning. So I guess, you are "perfectly" right.
To be serious, I get that part with the expectations. Mine are pretty low as well. I think, that isn't necessarily a bad thing as we could use the time to really evaluate the squad, some youngsters and formations. But I feel we don't do that enough (I get it, the club needs results) which to me feels a bit moving sideways.
I am happy, so many are happy with what they see. This is a positive trend to where we came from. There is no denial that we look more organized, we try to play a bit more ambitiously and we finally are playing at a speed, where at least the occasional error is forced by opposition leading to chances.
Apart from that, there is quite a big room to improve. I don't think, we are particularly strong in defense, as soon as somebody ups the tempo, we looked a little shaky in the last 5 games.
In attack, it mostly looks like under Ole I'd say. Ole football with Sancho and a little less "verticality". But chances still either appear from individual moments - be it opposition mistakes (that we are slowly starting to provoke) or moments of magic. The verticality is still way too much for my personal preference as it feels unnecessarily forced and doesn't really achieve its goal: adding more pressure.
The builtup is the phase, I'd say we improved the most - we are trying to play the ball out using patterns and triangles, we make use of feints and a few dribbles. This looks a little bit more like a team with a plan. Distances between players aren't as huge these days, but it is still not great.
I guess, this is something to be happy about, but I won't deny that I am a bit fearful about the pace of this development. Still feel we made a mistake not adding a player or two in January, now the summer will come and we are not a millimeter closer to a better "take-over" position.... Even further away considering the possible dimension of Ronaldos form and usefulness, the continued "form" of Rashford and the Greenwood situation.
Lets see where we stand against better opposition. Last mentionworthy opposition was Atletico, and I think, they had us on a plate. I'm looking forward to how RR will set us up against the better teams. He has my backing, even if I appear critical of the performances.
