So, people are actually saying, "Sack the manager, sell the players". After one loss?
Listen, I too am pissed off at beating the best team in the league one week and the following losing to the bottom of the table, but this is not a regular occurrence. We won 5 league games in a row before yesterday. We beat the likes of LFC and MCFC (historically, our biggest rivals).
The issue we have is that our players lack motivation against smaller teams and unless we go behind by 1 or 2 goals, our players struggle for motivation. This is what Jose needs to work on and I am happy to let him work on this. He is a top class manager and I would not be happy to see him give up and quit.
The other issue is that if he leaves, we won't be winning the title for at least 2 years, because the new manager will need to buy his own players and create his own team. This takes time. There won't be any quick title wins for us, I'm afraid. Jose on the other hand should be able to mount a title charge next season.
A lot of people want us to hire Poch. What if he ends up losing 3-4 games in quick succession. Are you all going to be shouting, "Poch out!" Then what? Hire another manager?
The definition of lunacy is to do the same thing and expect different results.
Woodward understood this, so after letting go of Moyes hired an experienced manager.
When LVG failed to work out and he understood that we needed trophies (otherwise we'd get left behind, like LFC have), he hired a serial winner who has a track record of winning. And this is the very reason why I want Jose to stay and win trophies for us.
Now, after Jose has won us the title, this would be the point at which if Jose wanted to leave, I'd have no qualms about letting go of him.
