It does my head in. Its as if we think Wan Bissaka is going to suddenly become prime Cafu or Maguire is going to morph into a latter day Lucio. Why play in a way that invites pressure onto players who clearly can't cope with it? I can only think that they are amazing in training and this cons the coaching staff into telling them to go short from every goal kick. Cos in games none of our back four exhibits the technical ability to resist players getting in their faces.Honestly nothing I hate more than watching us fanny about with it at the back, just hit it fast and direct, avoid giving teams the opportunity to press us.
At Everton it looked like we had learned our lesson. We went into the channel fast at every opportunity until Everton dropped off, worried about the space in behind and what our pace could do to them. A much sounder approach with the players we have.
